what do i do when i got the extension?
im trying to make a good looking road in the woods and idk how to make the edges look good
its my first time making a map
i dont particularly remember how its done, but i think its got to do with some layering/transparency on top of the road, take a look at a vanilla map to check i guess
The base color/texture should be from the terrain itself. And then you can add “road edge” decals to either side

so the order of the folders is supposed to be mods -> unpacked -> (your mod name) -> vehicles -> (your vehicle name, in this case the folder should be called "citybus") -> (your jbeam stuff)

did you do Ctrl L and then Ctrl R in BeamNG? Ctrl L loads any new detected mods, Ctrl R refreshes the game for any changes in the code
how many lines of code do you have in JBeam

I’m on ULTRA, WITH Dynamic Reflections AND Detailed Mirrors enabled, and it still happens. I’m not the only one, either. angel.lov reported the same LOD detail issue.

basically they are trying to get rid of whats left of the original Torque3D engine since its extremly outdated to then have a game engine of their own, meaning adding graphical, simulation content will be easier in the future, and also probably will bring some optimizations due to removing usless stuff

what defines where an exhaust starts muffling, because ive got an exhaust that when youre sitting at the front of the car, its unmuffled. But when you go to the back of the car where the visual mesh for the exhaust is, its muffled though as if im on the other end of the car to the exhaust

It's within exhaust jbeam. Exhaust is defined as "line" of beams coming out of engine exhaust node(s) with exit where you define it. Looks like this exhaust "physically" ends not on a muffler tip, but somewhere to the front of the car (?)

so here's the thing with automation exports. they don't actually have any engine sound samples, it's only exhaust. If you notice in the engine jbeam, there's only "soundConfigExhaust" and not "soundConfig"

wait so you want to add something to an already existing mod right?
- go to steamapps > common > beamng > content > vehicles > insert car name here> vehicles > insert car name here > name_engine.jbeam
openm that jbeam in any text editor, now go to your mod tab, find the mod and unpack then click open in explorer, find its engine jbeam and open that
the "slot_type" of the mods engine is what you need to copy and paste to the engine jbeam youre taking from the bastion
then save the edited bastion jbeam in the same directory beamng took you into after you pressed "open in explorer"
you need blender for this part which you can get here - https://www.blender.org/
go to the bastion directory where you took its engine jbeam from, and find its .DAE file, copy tohat to your desktop
then after installking blender open that bastion.DAE file by doing file > import > collada (legacy) in blender and navigating to the desktop, and selecting that file
now you can find the engine and all its smol bits you want and select them, then press CTRL+i and then X
this should delete everuthing apar the engine bits you selected

now press A and then go file > export > collada (legacy) and save it in the path your mod is in (again where the game took you after it opened the file explorer window)
and name the file like bastion_engine ig so it doesnt conflict in any way

anyone might know why when i change to my mod i made (chair) it changes the frame time to 50ms from 9ms fps goes from 120-20 (i5 13600k,rtx3060 12gb
the performance graph shows lua being mainly the problem i changed to the chair half way through the graph (its quite obvious)
modding engines, tried to change the node weight in engine file. Everything is fine with 11 (default) or above, but when the weight lowered, it seems to... not fit in the engine room?
10 would result in impact damage, 9 or below would cause the game froze paused for "instability detected", and once un-paused the engine and other components would be broken in a millisecond
its just the jbeam becoming unstable when the weight is lowered, engines and engine mounts are very rigid so they need a fair bit of weight in them

Maybe you can keep the engine in the front and have the transaxle in the back! But don't carry over the scintilla's engine too because then you just have a square scintilla

To add Custom Images as car decals
In windows explorer make sure you go to view and enable show file extensions
Add the image you want must be .png and create a blank .text document and change it to a .jason file, to the path below you may have to create the sub folders after 0.32 folder
C:\Users*UserName*\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.32\art\dynamicDecals\textures
Make sure the files are named logo_Name.png and logo_Name.jason The game will not read the files If they don't have logo_ in the name I tried
make sure in the .jason file it looks like the code below if you use \ instead of / the game will not read it even though windows uses \ for its pathing so make sure your using / and Enjoy your custom decal images.

In BeamNG Drive, choose "garage" and then "Decals", create new, add layer and choose decal. Now you can see your custom decal Under Logo tab.
If you add more images with the game running back out to Garage and go back into decals every time you add a new image You don't need to restart the game.
Here is a tutorial I written up as I figured out how to add custom images and it was hard to find a straight forward tutorial on how to do so.

You can adjust the idle rougness to make it chop a bit, but its not really the same. Otherwise you could just change the idle sound

You can look at their jbeam and see if the idleroughness or the idle sound are different. If you make a cam part that changes how it behaves you can make that a slot of the engine and change those parameters in there

there you'll find the common.zip folder, from there open the licenseplates folder and i think the rest is self explanatory.
maybe you need something like main.materials.json (located in licenseplates/default)

- 2017 Nissan Versa (S, SV, SL, S plus trim levels)
I've always wanted that feeling of accomplishment after finishing a mod. I'd release it for free (subject to change depending on how good it is lmfao) but yeah. It's gonna be hard but I'm willing to learn how to jbeam, and the file structure. That I can just study by looking inside other mods and getting specific programs. The issue I thought of however is getting the model. The authors I know made the cars are Spadie, with the Pacifica (but his gimmick is airbags in all of his mods, and the actual quality is dogcrap) and the A6 by I believe ringt0n and merveozbey, as I looked on Modland and a reupload made by merveozbey has pictures with the ringt0n signature license plate letters lol. The 2017 Versa Sunny was made by NZZ mods. I could buy it and use it as a reference (not gonna use ANY assets from these creators without their permission, to put it out there!!) but yeah. All of these cars have a decently close meaning to me for different reasons so I would hope to be able to create them. What's neat is I can also study the engine sounds irl and TRY to use the engine simulation software to be able to emulate those. The engines in the cars include:
The Pacifica:
LX: 3.6 L V6
Touring: 3.6 L V6
Touring-L: 3.6 L V6
Touring-L Plus: 3.6 L V6
Limited: 3.6 L V6
I believe the transmissions are the same (nine-speed) and only the Limited has AWD (others have FWD iirc)
The Versa:
S: 1.6-liter four-cylinder CVT FWD
SV: 1.6 L 4-cylinder CVT FWD
SL: 1.6 L 4-cylinder CVT FWD

Start with making parts. Make some bumpers and or engine swaps for vanilla cars

From there you can assess your abilities and difficulty of making a full on car
