The electric stuff doesn’t seem to work for the expansion. Half the time reverse just goes forwards, sometimes it doesn’t move at all.
That's a known issue with using acrade mode for driving my hybrid setup. Because the game considers the generator to be a wheel arcade mode doesn't know when to use reverse.

Making custom paint designs using skins. Is there a way in the jbeam that I can have a skin set a specific color for Paint Color 2 as you would select in the color options, or is that only available via .pc files?
sometimes when i unsubscribe lower quality mods from the repository in the vehicle selector appears a car with no image(not missing prewiew, a black rectangle with the "default landscape little square")a random name such as "ei31a" and with many configs like "police_2" and when i sapwn it its the same car i was driving but white and it flies to a random direction.
for more info it happened when i unsubscribed the "ibishu 300bx"

You can also increase precompression if you need force higher up in the suspension travel
Precompression will extend the beams length after spawn
precompression seemed to break things
It could be that the spring is too stiff then
i was changing it by a large amount
so probably just too much
If you don’t have the precompressiontime it will instantly set it to precompression range
Also 1.2 precompression adds 20% of length
So if your beam is 0.5m it will become 0.6m

I suggest just thinking what you’d want that at least some people would like to see too.
Also, is it just me, or do some others also click Ctrl+Shift+T to toggle the triangle selection backwards and accidentally spawn traffic? (For nodes and beams, holding shift toggles the visualizations in the other direction, but for triangles there’s just on and off, so Ctrl+Shift+T is the binding for traffic)

making a good modern F1 cars sounds much more complex than making any other modern car(I may be wrong though), so even if one of the best modders started making one today it would take months if not years to come out. At least we have a F4 car for now thanks to LucasBE.

Sad thing is that you can't get everything right, because there's just too much classified information and technologies that is hard to recreate in BeamNG
Oh yeah forgot about that too, making automation cars is already a pain because of how complex everything is so making a mod from scratch must require a ton of specifications
If you are interested I'm making a WRC mod, for over 1.5 year now. Just think of this, a damper that can detect the load on wheels and release the rebound damping according to load, with pure passive hydraulics, also detects the direction of force, also passive hydraulics. Do you know how that work?
That's not even a BeamNG thing, that's before it starts become a mod
These 2 technologies are actually used by WRC for over 15 years, and we still don't have a clear explaination on both

I made the rebound release thing work
It's actually from F1 as well
Basically you have a mass inside the damper and a little spring
On F1, when you brake, the mass will move due to inertia and G-force
when the mass moves it close/opens a valve inside the damper
thus making damping force higher/lower
On F1 this is used for braking, where the mass moves forward and blocks a valve, so when braking they will have more damping force to make the car more stable and aerodynamics more effective
And this is only 1 technoloy on dampers, there are tons of technologies on dampers, and tons of technologies on chassis, aero transmission, etc....
What I've done is basically add a small node on the suspension strut, connect with a very low spring and wrote a Lua to detect the length
once it exceed a threshold it will change the damping values on damper, on it works 95% of the time great
but the last 5% is really hard to get, such as during a very fast bump that suddenly compresses the suspension, the little mass inside will not expand in time. But in real life they seem to get it right, that's the place you would never get right unless you work in their team
But I agree, yeah, making F4 is much simpler, just like making amature rally up to rally4 class
yeah, the f4 mod is pretty high quality compared to the f1
After some researching even rally4 is much more complex than I thought, it should be fairly low-level FWD cars but it's actually, well, not that behind rally2...
This is probably why I feel in BeamNG vanilla cars, those amature rally cars seems about right, but as high as you go like Vivace, everything starts to fall apart
the Vivace BRC is definetely not what a real life top level rally car would be like

Another thing is ground effect, there's no proper simulation (I get it because it would be to hard for consumer PC)
I have something that actually kinda works
I connected the downforce triangle to suspension nodes so that triangle changes angle of attack when the wheel moves up and down
Effectively making no downforce when the wheel is full droop, thus off the ground after tuning, but this is only a work around and things shouldn't be like this in real life
But the fact that BeamNG has the option is a big plus to me, games like RBR will never have this level of simulation. Like in RBR the downforce is fixed value no matter the speed or ground clearance

I guess you selected them with dragging the mouse over them? If so, it may select other objects as well, try to select the buildings one by one and move them to a new folder in the scene tree, so next time you can just select the entire folder and shift drag

and consdidering how many of these cars actually exist im actuallyt suprised that the covet only has one 1.3L engine and it performs so much worse in beamng than my 1.3l engine

Better torque than power but it’s a diesel so that’s expected
maybe its your transmission
my step dad's prado is a third gen with a diesel 3L/turbo but not sure what engine specifically. The 6th gear works between 70-~115kph (speed limit in west australia is actually like 110kph unfortunately) but its still plenty torque for cruising economically
but if I really pushed it based on the torque curve it has i reckon it would go maybe 160-180kph
my toyota echo on the other hand would struggle to make it to 140
it already sits at 3000 rpm at 100 kph and the torque drops off massively after 3500 rpm
apparently its suposed to develop peak power at 6000 rpm but that's most likely not the case with my engine, it likely develops most power around 4500 rpm
when I say torque curve is a little jank I mean it realy is like this kind of jank
toyota starlet's 2E engine is supposed to generate less torque/power but I definitely felt it's much better. Only problem is that I accidentally let the registraiton expire and effectively lost the car then and there (it was never going to be recertified with how jank the previous owner modified the car, the headlights was secured by a pvc pipe, live wires capable of causing sparks right under the drivers seat etc.)

Select all the buildings with ctrl+lmb, they will be also selected in the scene tree, just drag the selection in the scene tree over the new folder
yes but you have to find the nodes it attaches to the Dunekicker and remove the links there and add links to the D-Series frame
and make sure it knows to put the exhaust through the new muffler as it doesn't rn

@lime elbow toxic sand dunes has some really weird physics with certain tyres. IDK how to explain, I could upload a multi-GB video but here, just load this config in a quicksand area, 4th gear in 4wd the car drives backwards and "boats" left and right, going down the big sand dune with clutch in the wheels spin to 600 kph.
Technically this .pc has "Dependancies" on carp mods but you dont need them since most of the parts are vanilla anyway and carp specific parts are just carp hats and other minor stuff

yes
since it was going downhill and the terrain was bumpy i used mesh instead of decal
im using decal for pretty much everything else
It's just the way mesh roads work, you may try to increase their height, but no guarantee it will help, it's better to use mesh road to lay out the roads,then use align up/down to terrain tool (can't tell the exact tool name, not at the PC right now) to bring the terrain elevation to the elevation of the mesh road nodes and then smooth the road

Yeah, it's completely fine, but if the road turns out to be too bumpy, the common way is to build with the mesh road, then use it to make the road smooth enough
The decal roads are also used to make road marking, just remember to set the drivability parameter to -1, so the ai doesn't use the marking to navigate

Made a "functional" oil pressure gauge (it's effectively a tachometer that maxes out at 2400 RPM). I don't think it's possible to track engine oil pressure in the game yet, so this is a cheap hack that can bring some more realism to your gauge cluster.

tried it on the dyna, then I decided to also try it on the chaser and lastly im trying it on the r33, trying to get the refractions right for a realistic look

I suggest making a 2nd uv map for your actual light bake if it has normals
and don’t use smart uv project I prefer just uv unwrap

I'm trying to export a new model from Automation(fresh engine + body) and when i try to use it in Beam, the steering is stuck to the left, and throttle/brake and parking brake don't work, the car shifts and stalls when i let off the clutch, but trying to put Beam wheel hubs/wheels on it bounces them off into the stratosphere

Lower as in, make it appear closer to the ground?
The flame follows the direction of the final beam of the exhaust jbeam, so lowering that will also lower the frame

It takes a lot of time and experience to make a good car mod, it's not something you can just do without having any prior modding knowledge
If you wanna learn how to make mods, start by watching a few tutorials on youtube, reading the official documentation, and looking at how the vanilla cars work. Then make a simple mod, like a new bumper or engine part for an existing car
You can learn and go from there 🙂

@ocean mauve ive found the cause of the alpha error problem (at least for me). problem was i was ticking "apply modifiers" in the export prefs of the DAE exporter, with meshes that have no modifiers which caused the whole DAE not to work, hope this can help others and can solve their goofy alpha issue

just switch that material to pbr, find the original texture, assign it as a basecolor map, and that red texture assign as a roughness map i guess

If you try to change the files built into the game or add new ones, then nothing will change. You need to add it along the path: AppData/Local/BeamNG.Drive
