Yeah
It Mostly affects the loading of the vehicle selector
for me it takes maybe 1-2 sec
with the pack loaded
surprisingly enough it doesn't really lag the vehicle selector

it might have added like 1 second to the loading time
but like seriously its not noticible unless someone pointed it out
here is a video of me going and selecting cars without the mod and using safemode
theres def a little annoyance with cars like the D-series where i have 250+ configs for it but seriously it isnt like crazy bad or anything
also a BIG reason this pack is good is for beam mp. all of my cars can be used on any server and you dont need to worry about syncing mods or whatever. and its not even like tame cars like theres a 2400hp scintilla that goes 370mph and a more or less monster truck D-Series
also i just like being creative aswell

theres a large engine pack with a singular 6.5 liter (ENGINE TYPE CYLYNDER NUMBER AND POWER LEVEL NOT LISTED) engine.
it appears to be a 6V## of 8V##

Hi guys, I'm back to making mods for beamng drive, and I saw that there were some updates to the game, including a new plugin for blender, I'd like to know, what's the best way to create a mod for the game today?
Before, I copied the files from a car in the game, changed the name of the files, adjusted some parts in jbeameditor and created the mod...

height map is only used for terrain as far as I know

For some reason in game it doesn't look as 3d as in materialize and also its super washed out which goes away when clicking revert to v1 and then switch to pbr
I guess its because its not using the height map
you should have uhh .color in all your diffuse maps and .normal for your normals
so like for example your road diffuse map would be
road.d.color.png or smth
and normal would be
road.normal.png OR road.n.normal.png
But as long as you have .color or .normal it would give it a little bit more color
that's weird, the files are defined in the editor
just beamng stuff, just rename the texture files to those and see if it makes any difference

My questions:
- *What type * of mod could cause the flickering shadows all over trees?
- What files are responsible for shader/shadow/graphics configuration settings in BeamNG? e.g, which subfolder
On Italy my shadows are flickering like mad on trees. I know it's not AO, or anything else, as I disabled those. Even when im stationary they're flickering a lot.
Here's the thing - disabling all of my 204 mods fixed the issue.
To narrow down which mod was the cause, I re-enabled all mods, then disabled:
- All map mods (in the "Unkown" and "Terrain" category)
- All object mods (like CarPal's experiment stuff)
- All mods which replaced anything even remotely related to trees, shadows, shader files, etc via the "List possibly broken mods" option
- Deep clean of cache after that
- Verify game integrity after that
- Relaunch game after that
Even still, the issue persists. The only mods I have activated are some vehicle mods, and "List possibly broken mods" only gives me some vehicle parts and such. Not even a mention of a shader or anything anywhere.
There were also some map mods in my game mod folder which don't even show up in the UI, as mod names or zip names... I removed those and re-did cache cleaning etc... still persists!
I'm absolutely stumped as to how I can identify which outdated mod is the culprit. Is my only option extracting them all to a folder, and using voidtools everything to search for shader related files? I don't even know the file structure of this game, so am kinda lost.
EDIT: Just realised that if I deactivate all mods while I'm experiencing the issue in-game, the issue completely disappears without me having to relaunch the game.
Also a big detail: when I deactivate all mods, the flickering stays, but is only 5% visible compared to when I have the issue, and the shading/lighting on trees completely changes, its like they get much brighter...

I think its because I disabled the default Driver camera, and used Enhanced Driver Camera instead
So when I disabled all mods, I was moved to the hood camera instead of an Interior camera, where the issue was much less visible, as it was outside the truck, I can reproduce this rn too
But in reality the issue never changed fundamentally

its simply due to the way the shadows in beamng work
when in the interior cam the render distance for the shadows is shortened for the result of sharper looking shadows, in the game its called the logWeight

I think my only option is using SpecialK with DSR resolutions to make up for the lack of AA, or using some funky AA option in SpecialK... doubt my poor laptop could handle it though

it will always stay the same logWeight for the interior cam
so theres no point in attempting to change it
you can try increasing the shader quality, that would reduce the flickering but wont completely aleviate it

you cant get 4096x shadows for the sunsky because of the number of splits..

ive had that since i started playing beamng lmao even on ultra settings, just assumed its normal
quick testing, Ultra is probably like 2k, but between that and this 4k option, I drop around 5-10fps depending on the area
ill take it because its such an unreal improvement, almost completely solves the flicker, and im still at 55-60fps, and GSync can make it seem a lot less worse
well yeah it would improve it because theres a higher shadow resolution
ik, its just interesting how going from Normal -> High -> Ultra lighting quality, I can see the branch shadows improving on the floor/tarmac, but the flicker of trees when looking ahead in the Driver view basically doesn't reduce in intensity
the second I enable the 4k shadows in CK Graphics tho, its gone as far as the eye can see (almost 95% of the distance lol)
you wouldve thought it would be a more diminishing returns type situation
my AO is still completely messed up tho, idk whats up with that
only reason I want AO is because it makes vegetation look absolutely beautiful, and a small touch in the cockpit is nice too, makes it less flat

its like the second i click photomode, it applies AO to different objects, random stuff like the numbers on the odometer, instead of proper objects. have a careful fullscreen look at the images in the thread and it might make more sense

My question would be how to get the radio/nav screen working with the custom assets that the mods definetly include. In the mod folder the files for the custom logo etc. are there and configured as html and png but in every single mod car there is still the default picture and the default screen with the default navigation

Yup. Mixed with the dependency addon mod being removed from the repo and them not fixing the dependency issue, it’s a mess
So the race addon depends on the t series addon mod

I know updates break mods, but I didn't really think it'd break compatibility of a very large group of mods because they introduced a new system. All I really want is a guide or some form of instructions on how to convert older semi truck mods to the new system so you can couple trailers and such.

idk about connectors, but as for textures, you can edit the materials.json
as for the coupling, it might just be one thing that ths different between old and new (i have no idea how it works as I ahve never attempted anything with that, but we would need to compare it)

It's unfortunately not 1 thing. I tried, and there's multiple files needed and I have no idea whatsoever on what to do.
Apparently there's code for it all over.
So it would consist of changing and adding several jbeam files.
Which is annoying, especially if you don't know what you're replacing.

Okai, so, there's more of those dots just out of frame, I can tell, you want to select 6 of them, the two in the middle of the suspension, and the 4 just out of frame that are on same height, once you have them selected, push E, that will duplicate them and you can raise them up

how could i reduce torque on an engine while maintaining good horsepower? i want 190 lbft of torque and 200 hp, i got 200 hp but now have 260 lbft. turbocharged i4
power is just "torque * RPM", there is no such thing as increasing power and reducing torque if that makes sense
i mean yeah, but i still want to reduce the torque to a more 'realistic' number
you can adjust it in a way, by offsetting where max torque is on the rev range. If you move max torque up and down you might increase or decrease power

So i have this nice RX7 mod and i have the required mods for the rims but they are still being replaced with the basic steel wheels. i am confused on why this is happening, does anyone know anything about this? Hey I need help , for some reason when the new update came out . All my saved custom cars will not spawn in and this happens with normal in game cars and mods. And if I save a new car in a new file , and try to load it back in it just spawns in a normal basic car not my customized verison of it. Can anyone help me with this ?
