The AI is frustrating, they keep crashing themselves

Man tgs on the forums. It's outdated but people have kept a few things working on it still and it's decent.

Semi Euro Truck on the repo, however you'll need to download a fix in it's thread.

Capsule bus is pretty good, same with any of the Dansworth buses on the repo.

Theres also a ton of skins and addons for the t series and wentward.

.PC files are just instructions for the game to load up a certain vehicle config, they are not 3D model files

Same thing with .jbeam files. They're just instructions for how the cars' physical structures are made, they're scripts

If you want to open a vehicle's model file, you'll need to find the car's .DAE file and import that into blender for example

You could use the mesh modifier in Blender, with vertices placed at each intersection and the edges being the bars.

Lots of parts are duplicated and arrayed, so it is actually not as complex as it first seems. It seemed daunting to me at first, but I decided to give it a shot. I am working on a lower poly version and another version with the internals as well.

for the engine as a whole, I searched for the particular engine (kamAZ 740) put on sale. In addition to that, saw a few videos to understand how the engine worked, and then finally searched for reference pics and technical drawings of the engine and its parts. I used old Soviet maintainence manuals for the technical drawings. I don't know russian so I used a python script to go through the pdf files, use an ocr library, translate the extracted test to english, and output the result as an excel file with two columns in order deduce what was written below the figures.

That's great to know. I love to do 3d modelling as a hobby and it is quite motivating to know that it is monetisable. 5$ sounds more than sufficient tbh, considering the mod is dependent on another piece of paid software to run on.
