theres mods to make rainy versions of certain maps. i know a friend of mine has made a few but im not sure how many have been posted. theres hirochi rainway, but it has some issues i think. my brands hatch port has a rainy version too, which seems alright. theres also a rainy nordschleiffe out there somewhere. just gotta look for them :D

I remembered there being an option like that in the level editor when I was messing around with it a 3-4 years ago, but now I can't find it anymore.

The OpenStreetMap importer as it exists right now is only importing roads with no terrain or buildings. It’s in a really early stage.
But I can't find anything about it being a feature in BeamNG.drive whatsoever.
That does at least match with the funtionality the importer version I messed around with in 2019 or so had; that also only imported the roads themselves, however that was without a doubt BeamNG.drive and not .tech.

Cool idea i had: A bigger autobello stambecco truck that shares parts with it and has both military and super cheap civilian variations inspired by these trucks (AEC Militant, Mercedes L Series, Isuzu TX). maybe with a combination of an isuzu fascia/front end, mercedes bonnet/chassis/body, and AEC top half and windscreen etc and just for creative value adding some design ques from the stambecco

You said you cant use world editor to make roads, so I guess youre doing it the best way you can
one benefit of making it in blender is that it was easier to make the highway and other parts of the roads
like guardrails and gutters, this way i already have lines they follow
but, when i finish i will have to like split the road in like 10 pieces or so for LOD's 💀

people have done other NFS before, so its probably doable but i dont think its anything easy, u would probably need to port it inside blender somehow, then as dae for beamng,but i think u will need to split it into lot of parts for LOD's and such cuz itll probably lag

I wrote a script that tries to recreate flame tunes. The flames don't come out of the pipe quite right without new nodes in each of the exhaust jbeams, so this will have to work

Oh that's looking good, maybe some more randomness would help? Also, im comfortable but with lua but barely have any lua experience with beam, but i do know that you can just overwrite the particle stuff. I think its somewhere in the lua folder in your game install. Just use the same folder setup and slap your particles.json file in there and modify to your hearts content. I can provide some more detail tomorrow if you still need it :)

what i found help is if you clear the cache, you can do this by the menu that pops up before you click launch game. you can click on support tools and then clear cache. let me know if it works.

i combined the base and GTT fenders to make a gtt-width fender that accepts pop-up headlights. also made the GTT nosecone stretch a little to look better with the pop-ups. should i do anything else to follow up with this?
The rally spoiler fits the gtt rear perfectly, make that an option. I did that for one of my racing mods (with some added downforce admittedly) and it looks fantastic

yeah ive dabbled in making car mods too, but i cant justify the time and effort to make a refined jbeam. but the latest update of the scintilla gt3 parts mod is incredible. v2 was already a big upgrade for realism, and v2.0.2 feels a bit too slidey compared to other sims, but its a very minor issue and everything else about v2.0.2 feels incredible so its 100% recommended for racing with
e'x and his team have done some incredible work on that mod, its amazing. its genuinely getting close to gt3 cars in other sims, feels incredible to drive on wheel
And they planned to make more gt3 :D

Beam is getting closer and closer to a racing sim
not even close :p this tyre wear and thermals system will be pretty simplified compared to what they would do
i was looking at the methods that are already exposed to VE lua, and theres a lot of detailed thermals related stuff there. it looks like when they eventually drop the official implementation, itll be very impressive, but for now, i just really want a mod that mostly does tyre wear and has some thermals just for fun, because me and some friends plan on doing some endurance racing and this really could add some extra depth
hopefully i can get a v1 on the repo this weekend :D
good fun to learn all this stuff tho, my drafting mod was my first like, lua mod for beam so far, and other than lacking documentation, its actually very enjoyable to code within beam, especially as someone who really enjoys lua regardless

yes, if you are above or below the optimal temperature you will notice a lack of grip, and worn tyres have less grip as well

that is not possible
when you first load it you can have one you just have to make a custom preset then set as default

So, I have a diesel that revs to 2500 RPM. I cant get it to shift into second because the auto clutch just makes it ride the clutch so much in first.

is it possible to get the friction coefficient for a groundmodel in VE lua? if its only possible with GE lua, thats acceptable too, but i really would prefer VE lua. i have the groundmodel ID but i cant find out how to read the values for that groundmodel now
Depends on what quality you want, how much time you have, and what style you prefer.
I use mesh roads to fix the terrain, and to position my road decals. And then paint the terrain underneath the decals for the finishing touch.
Lets say i want to make a turbo kit , whats the like max amount of polys it should be? I use to be a fivem dev and wanna try this beamng stuff out I'm use with engine bays being like 200k poly lol
I'm not sure what the game engine can handle, but it will probably depend on your system rather than the game engine.

You should be fine, I wouldn't do hundreds of thousands poly just for a turbo kit though. Im getting 5mil poly in frame on my full map at 80fps 1440p on normal.

is there a way to output tire pressures thru outgauge? i made a script with python to interpret outgauge data and interface it to a 2018 nissan maxima gauge cluster, i got most of it working perfect but id really like to get the tire pressure system to work. i have it all decoded in the script and i can set the psi to whatever and it shows, i just dont have access to in game vehicle tire pressures with the stock lua script.
next is getting lda/aeb/bsm working but idek if thats possible with this engine
or if anyone has a clue where i could grab these values from thatd be awesome, i should be able to implement it into the original outgauge lua script from there i just dont know where they are lol

oh sorry, it just refers to vehicle lua, versus GE lua which is game engine lua, which is like, a global state.
ve lua is like, its own entire lua environment per car, while ge lua is global
i have no idea where the outgauge stuff falls either, i havent looked into it much, i just wanted to give you a pointer on where most tyre related data is hidden :)

Love it. Those Gambler cars are fun. I´m currently messing around with the JBX 100 using the Gambler 200BX as a base...and i really screwed the whole thing up....rear tires pop off when going in reverse and the engines goes kabloey after a few rounds. Might have something to do with the Diesel V10 i dropped in there 😄
Not sure but he seems very inactive, plus i think he got banned from the forums for stirring up drama and making alts. I asked him about his raindrop stuff but he didnt answer how he did it, but for the dynamic mud: its just an extra texture layer that he enables based on driving in mud

I tried doing the same thing with an animated texture, but its really hard to get it to be stable and high res enough. My beam refused to accept textures bigger than like 16k wide so its either very low fps or very low res
I might add it to my tyre thermals/wear mod, ive got the data needed anyway, but we'll see, long ways out + i might make it a separate thing
Actually maybe its possible to have multiple animated materials and switch them out at runtime or something, just to fake it at least

I can list numerous things wrong with the 2fast one.
- Theres no proper interior, it's the old bolide one.
- Major spam of material issues
- Ripped model whereas lucas scratch made everything on his.
- The jbeam is atrocious on the 2fast one
- Knowing them theres probably something stolen within it.
It may have the BTTF stuff but it is by no means good whatsoever.

It's likely as close to, for example, a Tesla Model S as you can get without crappy mods.

there is no such thing as "importing" a 3D model into beamng
making a vehicle mod can take months, because of the way beamng simulates them as the sum of their parts instead of just a solid block with wheels

since you need detailed underbody and engine models that you can't find on most models online
as well as a low-ish poly count to avoid spiking when the mesh gets deformed

How can I change muffling for car?
First is ETK I series, than goes R34. I must say right away that the sound of ETC is not louder than my R34, ETC can be heard further, it's in the muffling parameter.
I'm pretty sure that sound distance is embedded in the sound files and can't be edited

- import the cars DAE file into blender
- open the "steeringwheels.jbeam" and look for this line >
it may be named different as mine and all that, dont care about it
the stuff i marked is the name of the "mesh" (3d object which gets loaded)
check now the name of the steeringwheel in blender and compare it,
if it's not the same then just rename the jbeam and save it. it should work then
if not, there's another issue. hope it's understandable

Does anybody have any knowhow about possibly making a pit speed limiter? I have absolutely no idea how to make mods. It could be a customizable speed, likely in the tuning menu. A key bind could toggle the speed limiter. Throttle, brake and steering are all still done manually, like normal.

best solution is to use the Cruise control app, set it to your pit speed and it will drive at that speed

Not a bad call. In r&r we used to have a pit limiter but i think it worked with lua triggers and caused major desync, so i was planning on making something like this regardless
And it would fit right in with my wip tracklimits/lapcounter stuff :)
@whole geyser maybe in the next 1-2 weeks you'll something appear here or on the forums about an overall simracing mod/beammp plugin setup, once its mostly working. Cant promise anything when i have plenty to do on my tyre wear/thermals mod, but i really want to get this done in 1-2 weeks anyway for an 8 hour endurance race my friends are hosting. So keep an eye on the forums and the mod channel here :)

If you want some feedback, I suggest making dirt, grass, sand ETC create less heat. I was racing with the Dunekicker and the rear tires got so hot really fast in the dirt. Just a suggestion.

From a modder, you can use the GLTF Exporter to export the meshes of crashed cars and import them into Blender.
You can save the materials as PNG and put them into blender too.
