Hi, I do a little bit of vfx on the side and I'm interested in making a Yosemite map for beamng. I have the lidar loaded into houdini and ready to work on, I just don't know the work flow for bringing it in (heightmap/tiling sizes, instancing, ensuring decent performance). Is there a tutorial?

There isn't really a single tutorial for that. Making a whole car requires a lot of modding skill and experience, it is better to start with a single part for an existing car, and slowly build your way up

good idea for that. I'm not a modder, but use the Hirochi Sunburst facelift hybrid powertrain. It's a 1.8L DOHC FWD Hybrid Inline-4, engine alone makes 137 horsepower. other than that, maybe start with a meshslap if they're easy? 🤷♂️

Back in the day there was this game called Streets of Sim City, in which you could load up a Sim City save file and drive around in the city. Sim Copter was another one where you had to fly helicopters and chase speeding drivers and put out fires in your Sim City saves. It was my favorite games to play back then.

i can make it a twin turbo by setting up different data in the jbeam but it still just has one turbo node, so it's phisically a single turbo
no wight gets added which would irl happen by adding second turbo and all that
sure i could give the turbo node more wight for the twin turbo part but then it's just a heavy one

The 6 rotor sound is exported out of Ange's engine sim. So it's not perfect, but better fitting then the 2 rotor sound from beamng

4rotor uses the same 2 rotor sound ATM, just tweaked a bit in beamngs sound Editor but yeah, still sounds more like a 2 rotor

then copy the wendover file into a folder that isn't important, then delete it from the game file until the problem is fixed
all i did was allow the "maliscious backdoor file" and the wendover worked again

Meh it only adds like 4 cars. Something with more
It adds a boatload of configurations, that's what it does really, and all are insanely high quality and lore friendly. As for adding vehicles, four in one pack is about as much as you can get with a relatively high quality. I can only think of Urbanlore's Bruckell M-body but that adds two cars riding on one platform and I'm not really a fan of them
I want lore friendly mods with vehicles that arent for customozing but just generally new

you can buy it for typically 40-70 bucks and you can assemble and paint it as long as you have the stuff necessary
a lot of the paint cost can be eliminated if you dont care about 50 different shades of black and grey and just mix it yourself
and the paint can of course be used on other future projects

Shouldn’t need much change at all if you add more weight
well this car is a few hundred kilos underweight
a decrease should be accounted for with a reduction in beamspring until it becomes stable again
idk why it'd get unstable with an increase either
Keep in mind that those few hundred kilos are going to affect suspension

if you scaled car up by 20% just find what 20% of nodeweight is and lower it
on the tire, wheel, brakes

where do i find the node weights for wheel tires and brakes
for tires its here and its just one number so thats two for front and rear
im pretty sure this same applies to wheels and brakes also
just go into the jbeams and find the correct parts
and it should be there
so the front tires or rear would become 0.144 to bring them back to what they were before
do this 6 times(i think for all parts) and car should now drive more real
it makes a difference for rolling resistance
and overall weight of car ofc
i just have to find the jbeam file with all that stuff
sometimes its included in car mod folder itself but most common is they are inside the common.zip
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BeamNG.drive\content\vehicles
then common.zip and then unpack that entire folder if you want into unpacked mods folder to be able to easily change and still have the old zip backed up unchanged

the thing i dont like is how you should be able to post the codes in those jbeams you like
currently its set up like you post it into body.jbeam and every jbeam gets affected
they need to split them up so you can manipulate it

or post it in body jbeam and if you post it again in wheels jbeam it will be different than all the others
but post on two jbeams now and it disables all changes
just amplify the volume of it in audacity if possible

i would imagine you could try that number too and go from there

0 is slick tires and 1 is offroad tires so it made sense to me 0.4 for these tires
i am willing to bet if you put 1.106 it will hit close to 0.95g
