Well in US a lane is usually 10 feet/6 meters so I think it's not that far off
If it's meant to be higher speed/freer flowing then it might be 12 feet wide lane

im making a map, and im referencing a specific real-world area. the area is a tilted square if we assume north is on top. can i move north on my map so it mathes the tilted square area and so i dont have to make the actual map any bigger just to place north in the right direction?

@ocean mauve I think metallic is either 0 or 1 I don't think anything is in between. Not sure if that's what youre changing with your various levels.
im not messing with that setting, but with the actual metallic maps
the white is the little tap on the top of the bottle, the black are things like the labels and stuff. the rest is shaded based on how metallic i want it to be

Yes there are. Metalic maps are grayscale
They are in grayscale, but the values should be either 0 or 1. From my small amount of texturing knowledge anyways
For physically accurate/full realistic, there is no gray
Something is either metal, or it isnt*
*there are things that are in between but 99.99% of the time your stuff isnt going to be made of that lol
there are also reasons to do it for stylistic approaches
Look at other beamng metalic maps
like I sometimes put a bit of metallic in my fabrics, because that can give it a nice fabricy sheen
but if you are just doing a metal bottle, you probably want 1 or 0, and make sure your albedo is in the right value range
even the 'no metallic' one is still pretty close to being white on the metallic map so eh

usually you want to start accurate and pull away from it but

Irl things are metal or not but every metal has a different look. Also paint can have any amount of metallic flakes
stuff like paint is a whole different ballgame
those usually use their own super special multi-layer shaders
clear coat/ carbon fiber/ car paint
all of those on items are pain
i've had this problem for ages with the ibishu signia full payed mod and wondering if anyone can help me out since i didnt get a real answer last time.
The race interior, roll cage and a couple other items including the wheelie bar, are invisible. They still seem to have their nodes but nothing else. Can anyone help me out?

because your material needs multiple layers
yeah it all looks kinda matte satin ish
it needs the carbon fiber with its own roughness and normal, and then a layer on top which is smooth and shiny for the clearcoat

A console telling you what mod is incompatible and which mod is currently compatible with such versions of beamng. Example: This mod "Mod Name" steering link is interfering with this mod "Mod Name" ..... Then could eventually become a cleaner of some sort. ?

Hello, I am unable to create BeamNG paint mod, when I put them on the car, all the color parts display but the black part of the paint does not display and the car has a terrible color with a huge watermark on top. Help please : (

Delete the .cs, and use the .json I sent instead. .cs is outdated and no longer used for beam, everything is .json now

That means it wasn't able to find you texture file, are you sure the file path is correct? So the "baseColorMap": "vehicles/vivace/TestMod/vivace_skin_TestMod.dds", thing in line 19

Also make sure you compress your texture correctly, should be BC7 (sRGB, DX 11+), made your file go from 25mb to 8mb (and using other compression formats can cause texture bugs)

by hearing the name and the beginning and end of the lineup you could almost always instantly tell what position the person driving it was in!

fun fact: opel kadetts (vauxhall astras) where build in my hometown (Bochum) and i would have liked to do my apprenticeship there but opel decided it was to expensive to build cars here.

set their slotType to wheel_F_5 and wheel_R_5 for front and rear 5 lug wheels, and wheel_F_6 and wheel_R_6 for front and rear 6 lug wheels
if you wanna see some examples, and find the names of the tire slots, check out content/vehicles/common/wheels, the .jbeam files in there will have them
the slots are right, i tried changing the slottype but that doesnt change anything

if its directly in mods then it has to be a .zip file instead of a folder. so instead of just a folder named modname, you'd have to have modname.zip, with your vehicles file in there

a lot of problems can be solved by restarting or clearing cache :P
and disabling other mods too. Mod conflicts n all can be accidental
you have to press ctrl r not just r

Hey! First timer here; I know this may be a little bit of an extreme case and i'm using a couple of mods combined so some issues are to be expected; but i was wondering if maybe some of you may know where some values are to remedy some of my problems?
Axles are a little too weak, causing the wheels to fly off. Sometimes while steering, The front wheels wobble quite a lot, Sometimes so bad that it deforms the suspension/steering geometry causing the vehicle to pull a certain direction under power. Sometimes also, while under power, the front left wheel will raise off the ground causing the vehicle to pull in a certain direction. I was also curious where i might be able to find the value for steering angle and track width. Thanks in advance!

Not sure about all of it but the wheel lift is the chassis and frame being affected by engine torque
It’s actually sort of expected if you’re running a big powerful engine, unless there’s a bunch of rigidity and reinforcements done to it

Offhand the wheels might be affected by the hub strength but I only have really spotty modding knowledge.
I did a quick google and apparently people tend to put in “torque boxes” or connect their frames in the middle to make them stiffer
I think vanilla has some bars to protect the drive shaft and undercarriage but not sure if they would make it a lot stiffer 🤔
yea i think hub strength may also be an issue as well tbh; i'm not that far into modding. i'd definitely be able to do some value edits though

Most quality mods have it, I don't specifically know any real-life ones since I don't play with those
Frankly I don't use irl car mods for the simple reason that they're geenerally substantially lower quality than lore friendly cars

Cool, what wheels are you using? I want to test with the same ones to see if I can overcome the breaking issue. The body twist under power is something I am working on as well
It has to do with hub stiffness, in Automation cars if the wheels break off on spawn the hubs are too stiff
i'm using 17x9 SP trophy 1000's on 48x18 masterbuilt rocktrax on wide 6 lug hubs
This is true, but in this case, I only changed the hub position and not much else.

What mod are those tires from? I had to make a few changes to bring the suspension to today's standards, but I haven't changed the hub connection beams and can't get the front or rear wheels to pop off. How much power are you running? I got over 1000 ft lb of torque with not even a wiggle on the front end.

The only real change I made was moving the rear swaybar nodes. Otherwise, it is nearly identical to the vanilla hub, minus being heavier to handle the wider suspension and greater beam spring

That's the biggest issue for me tbh, bigger wheels will cause them to wobble even more, and also makes it more likely they break off. i guess that's expected though

It is better to start with smaller mods, like making a single part, or a skin or something like that. Making an entire car is a lot of work and requires a lot of skill and experience

does anyone know why the scintilla gt3 mod has a v8 long block by default?
it doesn't make sense since the engine is a v10
and it changes the sound to be a v8

Have you double checked the slot name? Should be something like claria_engine, you'll be able to find it somewhere in the claria files
