Now, here’s what I don’t get. I still have the DFA pack that was on the repo ages ago, and somehow, it still works. I don’t know how it hasn’t broken yet, it I ain’t complaining.

i don't think it would be useful though, you can just press V to select ignition mode, but if you're learning, then it's okay (and i can't show that because i'm not good at programming things in beamng, only editing stuff.)

i think its just map editor, i dont recall there being many graphics mods, maybe some reshade stuff but i dont think so and i think the light bars are from the undeglow of cars, they look simmilar

this might not be considerd modding, but if i change values in the jbeam files, do i just need to respawn the vehicle or does the game need a restart to apply those changes in the .rar file?

just a question, how expansive can mods in beamng get? I wanna know if a mod that detects when police start chasing you (that being traffic police) and then sets the time to the slowest possible speed, turns the camera towards the nearest police car, pauses for a bit and then returns the time to realtime and puts a chase ui app onto the screen, yes I do want to convert BeamNG into NFS don't ask why lol

yes the flywheel and transfer case are now inside the racetruck jbeam
coded in with changed partname from bastion to racetruck
yea both flywheel and rwd transfer case are now coded into the same jbeam text file as the tr6060
but maybe im forgetting some linkage to front of engine?

look all im saying is that ive had experiences with both having all the body nodes being in one group vs having them be in separate groups and the deformation was so much better

for example when i use the "race" drive mode i want the speed limit to be like 120mph and when i take "comfort" i want the speedlimit to be like 60mph

This actually is a case where multiple groups help btw, but not just by the act of adding more
The body itself is on an _ext group with only the outer nodes
or so I thought because literally two nodes in the whole jbeam were also on that group erroneously causing weird stuff lol

the reason why i was saying groups helped was that i was working on a unibody and all of the nodes were grouped together when i would move the node the unibody would deform but would then cause other parts of the material to start deforming as well and it wasnt even the nodes moving so when i split it up into there own groups when i would move a node it wouldnt end up moving a random piece of the unibody

maybe the fact that tires are number of rays instead of perfectly circular wheel confuses my results. I tried now 46% higher grip than default on stock battlehawk and it feels more natural but in the end hard to tell what exactly it should behave like.
just the 305 35 30 sport tires btw. I am just trying to find constants.
you can adjust tread coef and sliding traction to increase base grip, as well as grip when sliding. messing with sidewall damping also gives a huge improvement for offroad vehicles.
because if it is for example 16 rays then if i raise it by 46% for example then that is only balancing out the wobbliness of the rays. If i had 46% increase on a perfectly circular wheel then maybe the tire grip would be supernaturally higher and unrealistic.
yea this is what i have been doing.
but in beamng a raise of a massive 46% just makes the hellcat feel more like a real car but in the end i am not too sure of the matter.
you can add as many rays as you want to make it more round. dont forget to adjust individual ray node weight otherwise you end up with 2 ton tires

biggest issue i think is the whole game is outdated. modern racing games and sims have dedicated tire simulation for inside, center and outside as well as like 60 individual contact points that can all be tuned. it also doesnt help that the game has no terrain deformation literally at all. despite adding the sandiest map yet they still havent added it. so disappointing.
yea and the number of rays tire model also makes it so contact patch is always wobbly and you cant ever approach realistic grip levels imo
you make it higher to try and stabilize the acceleration but then you flip the car when you turn
at this point im just waiting for it to finally move to unreal engine
or.... maybe im wrong again i am just trying to see what others have been doing with this tire grip levels.

this is what i have done so far with the bastion and its supercharger
i am chasing this realistic real life car feel and i am getting closer each time.
i've added the regen tags to one of my electric motor mods and it doesnt do anything and i dont know what i'm missing. no official documentation exists for this new regen in any way or how to implement it into older mods.
in real life, twin screw and centrifugal supercharger induction systems have a wastegate and blowoff valve just like a turbo, but you can't put them on any supercharger. if the game claims to be accurate, basic engine dynamics need to be overhauled.
the updates help alot but still lack of documentation and the secrecy is a little annoying.

I keep mentioning rfactor from 2005 but it is because it was such a huge success because the devs made the physics engine as realistic as possible and provided few sample cars and tracks to get modders started and modders took over and it only just in recent years lost its popularity because of newer simulations.

you see, just adding a sound is the lazy way. beamng does not do that. beamng replicates what goes on behind the sound as well

are the polygon triangles unevenly flat when tire is contacting road?
With it being uneven there's more chances for tire nodes to contact the road as it spins
The triangles themselves don't have static collision and therefore don't contact the road
(that can be seen here, no center collision)

it will edit for the cars that use the tires you edited but you have to copy the files and create new folders yourself in the mods folder
you have to make copies of everything you modify so the game knows its a new part

you can call it intentional but it's more so a limitation of what I could do. Hope it's not a big issue. And yeah, I love the sounds of the 7.1 too as the custom recordings ended up really really good, definitely want to do more of them
Yeah, the more custom sounds we have to work with on the truck the better. The fact that the main mod with 83 configs being released for free is a true blessing. Not many mods do that these days
my main goal is to make those 83 configs not be a box truck with 9999 different skins but rather actually new upfits to work with and more parts to customize things with
Yeah that's one of the things I noticed too. Those types of trucks arent outfitted with only boxes on the back of them. A lot of times they're used for flatbed purposes and even semi trucks which you captured very cleverly with those configs
exactly; that's my plan with the addon that will be released later. Custom upfits are not included right now because I didnt want to delay the vehicle for another year just adding things and restricting it to everyone. Instead I just made what's the complete basis for the vehicle and after the last issues are ironed out, the custom content will come flooding in
Yeah I saw at one point you had to put no suggestions in the title cause you wanted to focus on the main mod first before adding all the extra stuff on top of that. I don't know anything about modding but that's probably how I would go about that too
the whole "no suggestions" thing is because I know everyone who stumbles on the thread is going to just ask "can you make dump truck" or "can you make motorhome" and all that crap and because I'm aware of the vast majority of upfits for this truck, I just came to the conclusion that this is the best option since I'm probably going to be aware of the thing thats being suggested

Seems to have worked at least for the time being. I don't follow the thread much anymore so I had no idea it was gonna come out till I saw it yesterday morning. Took me nearly an hour to install it cause the repo was going very slow for some reason
I thought this was just because the mod is really big but maybe I'm really killing the repo with the size of this mod lol

there are a couple mods where you can do it, but its really unstable. You can manually make a mod but it will take a lot of modding to make it work.

Turns out a vehicle in itself doesn't have to be classed as a bus, BeamNG will detect if an individual config is as well

does it count if the word "Bus" or similar related terms are included in order to appear in the bus routes
also does it need air suspension for it to work fully (considering how the wentward in those missions need you to kneel and all that)

I modified a map on 0.26 and on 0.27 the changes are gone, but when loading the map back in 0.26 again (using the same file copied back), the changes return
so this is basically tire grip increase from 54% to 58% and inertia increase up to 0.792.
normal hellcat with 717 ps does 0-100 kmh in 3.4 seconds. This has 1072 ps.
@terse abyss the changes are not stored in the mod itself, its stored in your AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.2x\levels folder
