I play a lot of garage to garage deliveries and I installed 2 mods, a challenger mod and mustang mod. Sometimes I get the challengers as deliveries, but for some reason I havent gotten a single mustang.
How can you make it so you get custom cars too and/or how do you know which mods support garage to garage deliveries

Hi all, I bought beamng on steam (I know, what a dummy, I actually paid for it!) with the intent to use beamngpy (which does indeed work fine with the steam version) to create a sort of car hacking simulator people can use to get some experience with car hacking in a safe environment. From what I can tell this will work fine as python is able to both get and set parameters of the car. Then my plan is to write ECU simulators that turn BeamNG into a CAN bus linked system where people can see the CAN messages and then try to do various things to poll the ECUs, do attacks, etc. I think it can all work fine. I've already done several tests with AI controlled cars and reading / updating their parameters and things are looking promising.

But, I want to make sure I'm not about to reinvent the wheel if work has already been done along a similar pathway. Anyone know if this has been done? I'm using the Steam version instead of applying for the educational version for two reasons 1. I don't think I need lidar (at least not right away) or things like that and 2. If I do this with the steam version and support it that way then people need to buy it if they want to play and that supports the developers. So, should I start from something existing or is this path wide open?

well aren't you in for a treat... Open a powershell (win+r type powershell, hit enter), type python and hit enter. You probably don't have it installed so it'll offer. Let the windows store download and set up python 3.10 for you. When it's done "pip install beamngpy" which will install all the libraries you need. From there you should be able to download my script and run it with "python test4.py" which will automatically start BeamNG for you and then do the setup and have two cars on the test track

After that, you have to learn python 😉

Oh, are there tutorials! Probably tens of thousands of them. Python is an extremely common scripting language. Is it difficult? I suppose it depends. If you don't currently program it might be a bit of an experience but ultimately it isn't that hard to learn and it's so common that, yes, I'd say it's worth it

The first thing to do is try something already written then see if you can make small changes and see what happens
