I have seen so so so many mutual aid posts on Mastodon. I'm sure there are more on other platforms. Just looking up "trans mutual aid" brings up this site https://www.iowatransmutualaidfund.org/
Pick your poison, plenty of options.
This group has compiled a bunch of stuff https://www.folxhealth.com/library/mutual-aid-funds
Also if you happen to be in the US yourself, call your representatives about each and every bill they try to put through.
(Same goes for the DEI bills because they're all extensions of one another)

- Getting word that we have another anti-trans EO tonight, this time targeting teachers.
It directs the federal government to work with state AGs to put teachers who use trans kids pronouns in jail through "sexual exploitation" laws or "practicing medicine without a license."

anybody know any good resources to support trans individuals in Australia?
I want to help a friend in Aussieland
we livei n dire times when the far-right want to actively, maliciously target the lgbt community and I don't want to sit idly by
Might be able to contact https://transcend.org.au/ and ask?
thank you!
I think in case of someone you personally know, make space to listen to them when they are struggling, reach out every few days. I have friends in other countries I do that with.
that is good
especially since in the US it can be especially harrowing especially in the South
but like for those in Australia, it is different
yeah, I agree
it is a dark time
doesn't help that the right-wingers have infiltrated the wh40k community and, despite the efforts of the community as a whole to ban those who are right-wingers from it, the scars and trauma those chuds inflicted still remain
the lgbt community aren't the hobby tourists, it's those right-wing chuds who are!
I will protect and help my friends

some more context on the trans passport situation
UPDATE (1/28/2024): Over the weekend, I was able to confirm reports that the Trump administration has expanded the use of a system that allows employees to see if a person applying for a passport renewal has EVER had a passport with a different gender marker. In light of this development, I recommend that trans people avoid even otherwise routine passport renewals until there is more clarity about the administration’s updated policies, an established timeline for the return of documents being held by the State Department, and a chance for litigation to move forward. If you are trans and have NEVER held a passport under a different gender market AND you have amended your birth certificate AND the document is not marked as amended, it is likely safe to apply for a brand new passport.

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Acting Chair Andrea Lucas announced a set of policy changes inspired by President Donald Trump’s recent anti-trans executive orders … The press release clarifies that Lucas cannot unilaterally rescind prior EEOC guidance… that affirmed protections for transgender people under Title VII… the release states Lucas’ intent to push for the revocation of these protections and to establish transgender bathroom bans in workplaces.

extremely disturbing discontinuation of gender affirming care for under 19 year olds by NYU-Langone (which is a generally high quality NYU-associated health system w/ several hundred locations) https://bskye.app/profile/hellgatenyc.com/post/3lh3metdd522o
NYU-Langone is cancelling appointments for gender-affirming care for young trans people, parents say. The cancellations come after Trump's order directing institutions that receive federal funding to end gender-affirming care for patients under 19. hellgatenyc.com/nyu-langone-...
I've heard a theory that the unusual under-19-years-old age cutoff in the executive orders comes from the executive order being based on various state-level gender affirming care bans, including one from Alabama. Alabama sets the age of majority at 19 (unlike most of the rest of the US, where it is 18). the idea is that they just put the most restrictive age cutoff from any of the state-level bans into the executive order, without realizing the basis for that age being used in Alabama’s ban

Just popping in to say I have contacted this individual, and provided they continue with the interview will be doing an investigation here. I've sent interview questions already.
One development is that the passport agency in question caved, and invited them to come get their passport after all. I believe that meeting is tomorrow.
Until it is resolved they are doing daily proof of life check-ins on TikTok, and I think it's really disturbing that's necessary (but I agree that it is)
Here's a quote from them which is already in the public record:
“If I disappear or anything happens to me; it wasn’t me. I’m not going anywhere. I will continue posting to ensure everyone of my safety every day until the situation is resolved, or figured out at the very least. If I’m going to take a break, I will announce it for the safety and sanity of everyone in the world who has expressed concern or worry about me.”
- The EEOC acting chair, Andrea Lucas, has announced that a private business transgender bathroom ban is her top priority.
This comes in the wake of a slew of anti-trans executive orders.

Regardless of the availability of federal funding, we write to further remind you of your obligations to comply with New York State laws, including those that prohibit discrimination against individuals based on their membership in a protected class, such as sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, creed, color, national origin, citizenship or immigration status, military status, disability, or marital status. … Electing to refuse services to a class of individuals based on their protected status, such as withholding the availability of services from transgender individuals based on their gender identity or their diagnosis of gender dysphoria, while offering such services to cisgender individuals, is discrimination under New York law.
So my friend was denied healthcare from a specialist last week because he’s a trans man. (Was told by the practice that they would only treat him if he detransitioned)
However, his post got around and I dunno if all the angry responses got back to the doctor, but today the doctor called back and apologized and said he would be treated.
An interesting window into the state of trans health care in Florida. There are definitely still trans-positive doctors but there are pressures for them to change their position.
Sorry if that’s not appropriate input for this channel, but I thought it might provide some atmospherics
If they have the apology in writing then it might be worth forwarding to Chase Strangio (ACLU). He's been suggesting that he would like potentially actionable information and/or evidence on socials.
I will ask, though I think everything happened over the phone.
Certain types of care are notoriously hard to get as a trans guy, like any type of sexual health and/or pregnancy related care.
All I know is that it was specialist care, not sure if it was even related to any of those issues but I didn’t pry.
No it's also none of my business, and being altogether denied care is perhaps more rare, but it being very hard to obtain adequate care can be complex in general and specifically for certain things.
Just saying this isn't new under this administration. Doctors being assholes is sadly an older problem.
Oh yeah absolutely. This same friend dealt with transphobia in the friggin ER a couple years ago. The variable here was that this doctor was recommended specifically as a trans-safe doctor.
If that is the case, I'd definitely forward that information to any local trans groups so they also know.
But yeah like a fair chunk of my friends down here in Florida are trans and/or nonbinary, so I’ve seen and heard a lot
One trans woman friend is a public school teacher. In a really red county. So navigating the transphobia of both the DeSantis and Trump governments has been unfun
Yes. Florida is especially bad
Most of my queer friends (I guess self included) have a pretty strong “this is my state and I’ll leave in a body bag” attitude
heyyyy I don't want to dissuade you from contributing, but the server is about open source information - information that anyone can find on social media, or through satellite imagery, etc. what you're talking about, where you have a contact who had an experience, might get more traction with traditional journalists who interview people.
everyone is here because they're interested in open source research (for example, coming across a review on Google saying a doctor doesn't treat trans individuals), and what they can do with that information. Once again, we do want you to be here and contribute! But I want to be clear that if you don't get a lot of people picking up on your information, it's because it's not what the server normally deals with, versus you personally.
Oh yeah, I know. I work a ton with open source personally, so I know what I just shared isn’t the main type of input you’re looking for. I was just offering a bit of context. But thanks for the extra guidance

Seattle Children’s Hospital postponed a transgender teen’s masculinizing top surgery only hours before it was scheduled allegedly to comply with one of President Donald Trump’s executive orders targeting health care access for trans people under the age of 19. Breaking news: State attorneys general from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Vermont, and Wisconsin advise Trump's EO banning trans care is unlawful, hospitals should provide care.

Unfortunately NCMEC was already somewhat heading in that direction due to how it's board was compromised with anti-LGBTQ folks over recent years
I hadn't noticed the glib "we don't have to anymore" at the end. I also do not believe the chairman when he says he is not "up to date" on whether the T-slur is offensive, because that's an old slur. Maybe older than he is.
Yes but he's probably also from a generation where all the slurs were in regular use by white cis het folks.

highlights shifting position of the NYT ed-op board on anti-trans stuff
Yes, they seem to be doing a bit of backpedalling in general, even though they are partially responsible for the situation the US currently finds itself in. They better do an actual acknowledgement of harm done at some stage (and not merely for LGBTQIA+ related coverage, for other things too)
I'm surprised to see that NYT criticism is allowed to stand here. I thought Bellingcat had decided not to call out other news orgs.
Sharing specific criticism via written from (from a blog, website, etc.) is OK because we can all read what is hopefully a tought-out argument, weigh the validity of the arguments and of the source, etc.
What I don't like to see is people giving general, broad criticism that is by definition fully subjective and unsourced because that only ends up with personal fights. So saying "I think CNN sucks because I don't like it" and leaving it at that is the sortta thing I don't like to see here
I also think this would be hard because then 1) you need to decide when something qualifies as a news org 2) it means that you'd never be able to notify anyone over any mis/disinformation published in any qualifying news org
Here's an interview with Ezra Young on the topic of narratives surrounding gender in the media https://fair.org/home/ezra-young-on-trans-rights-law-anne-sosin-on-rfk-jr-and-rural-health/
Just so I understand, media criticism is allowed if it is a link, and not just just my opinion, is that right? And am I right that each instance should go in the channel appropriate to the subject at hand because there is not one channel for media criticism? With perhaps #disinfo-and-propaganda as a default?
And/or #far-right-monitoring

Reem Alsalem (born 1976) is a Jordanian independent consultant and former civil servant. Since August 2021 she has served as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls. She is gender-critical, and has been accused of being anti-trans.

One FULLY INTENDED effect of transphobia is to remove Black and other racialized women from the category of "women" and restrict womanhood to cis white conventionally attractive women who can bear children. It's all part of a white supremacist project.

For reference, this is the order. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/03/restoring-public-service-loan-forgiveness/
The title of the article is kind of confusing to me bc my brain initially read it as “Trump makes trans people ineligible for public [civil] service”, but it’s saying orgs that focus on helping trans people might (or in some cases, will) not qualify as public service for the purpose of the PSLF program. Technically, this needs to be done by rulemaking, per the National Council of Nonprofits.

- Eligible personnel will receive enhanced benefits including double Voluntary Separation Pay and waiver of bonus repayment obligations; after the deadline, involuntary separation proceedings may begin.
- All previous exceptions allowing members to conform to standards different from their DEERS-registered sex are immediately revoked, while prohibiting identification of affected personnel through medical records unless directed by DOD officials.

The ruling was in part based on a 2011 Amendment in the state guaranteeing healthcare freedom, originally meant to challenge Obamacare.
‼️ Recently HHS filed a document in the Federal Register regarding proposed rule changes to be made, on page 44-46 contains a national trans healthcare ban.
This would ban coverage of transgender healthcare for all policies in the marketplace as either individual or small group policies (special policies for small businesses). Larger employer self funded plans will not be impacted.

Vandalism spree in downtown Portland. Police say people break windows all the time, shrug, and a shop employee said it was just some "unhoused person having a rough day." I haven't asked at the drag bar, but I seem to be the only one calling this a hate crime so far.
This was one individual, in one night. I don't know if it's worth pursuing the police report and interviewing staff at the drag bar, but I thought I'd stick with Portland area incidents like this. Any advice to make these kind of reports more useful, I'll try to follow.
do you have primary source documents please?

It sounds like Downy is describing an event to which they were a witness and for which no police report has been made so it's not the sort of thing for which you can expect to have "primary documents" at this stage
not from police. From our own sources

America's variant of Cass report but worse?
They won't get very far, there have been studies into this and the regret rates for any type of gender affirming care are many times lower than those for any other type of healthcare.
I know, but I'm worried about like deliberate data manipulation or whatever
Perhaps that's conspiratorial, but I also have no faith in the ucrrent admin
Since the NIH had much of their funding pulled, I suspect they won't be looking too kindly on this administration. They might end up firing all the relevant researchers under duress, and then making up some bad faith report like the Cass report, you're not wrong. But if they would -actually- look into regret, it's like 2% (and even then it's generally procedural and not identity related regret)
what do you mean exactly?
NIH researchers have had many millions in grants pulled by the current Trump administration (e.g. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/04/02/health/nih-grants-funding-lawsuit/index.html ). This means that you have to wonder who is going to do this research if there is no one left to do that work. The cass report was a bad faith, using bad statistics and erroneous measures among other problems, report by a biased individual (e.g. https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/endocrine-society-and-american-academy). There have been studies into transgender regret rates and they are very low (e.g. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8099405/ )
In short: You are not wrong about the administration, but the chances of independent NIH scientists who are qualified in this subject area to do such a study not only having a job but then additionally finding any (non existant) regret rates is small.
So yes, they can force the NIH to hire some shill to write some bullshit, but it will be quite clear that that is what it is, as with the Cass report.
(apologies for the language)
Nah, I think you're too soft on the Cass review actually

The details and excerpts from the document in the thread.
This is an odd one: On one hand it attempts to accurately portray the work of doctors and care workers for trans people, as well as the pressure they are experiencing due to misrepresentations of their work. On the other hand phrasing of the article often borders on false balancing, not shying away from repeating transphobic rhetoric without contextualizing it. I know Bellingcat discourages personal opinions on such matters, but I think it is important to note that the article is probably not an easy read for everyone.

Statement from Trans Iceland regarding the deportation of a trans woman to the United States:
"The board of Trans Iceland strongly criticizes the decision of the Icelandic Immigration Service to deny an American trans woman and her son international protection and to deport them back to the United States. The mother arrived in the country just over a week ago due to the worsening situation of trans people in the West due to the crackdown on their rights, but as Trans Iceland and Samtökin ’78 have repeatedly pointed out, since Trump took office last January, trans people have had to endure, to say the least, gross persecution by the government. The US government has systematically undermined the acquired rights of trans people, as numerous examples show and organizations such as Human Rights Watch have discussed. The freedom of travel of American trans people has been abolished thanks to new passport and border control rules, while their rights within the country have been restricted.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently issued travel guidelines for queer people in response to these developments. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has also spoken publicly about the global backlash and the importance of Iceland using its voice to defend human rights. It is therefore wrong that the Icelandic government, through the Icelandic Immigration Service, should in this way refuse to face the reality that trans people currently live in the United States. The woman’s application for international protection was deemed “manifestly unfounded” despite reasoning and evidence that showed otherwise. To add insult to injury, she was then referred to the US embassy when she was deprived of services after a negative outcome was received in her case. This practice is truly incomprehensible and indefensible when it comes to an individual who belongs to a group that is subject to similar attacks by the US state as trans people. The decision to deport also includes . . .

The London trans rights protest was incredible. There were thousands of us there: trans people, intersex people, LGB people, and cis allies, with the full diversity of humanity on display. The police were completely outnumbered and just watched as we dismantled the barriers around Parliament Square. A passing bus driver stopped to ask if anyone could lend him a flag. We heard speeches, chanted, and marched to St James’s Park. (Photos are cropped to avoid showing faces of people near the camera.)

NHS is apparently planning to test all trans kids for autism. Only rightwing rag coverage so far though, Telegraph (https://archive.ph/sU08i) and Express (https://archive.ph/iCUyO).
And express one is a repost from telegraph, so might be disinfo, not sure
If they were to do that they would see some correlation since there statistically is. Never bothered to check myself, but even psychologists (anecdotally and mine) consider it during gender dysphoria diagnosis.
we had a whole thread on this ages ago when we still had threads https://ptb.discord.com/channels/709752884257882135/1028837452628103210
Oh, far before I knew, nvm, will check myself, thank you. If you remember conclusion please correct me now
I think the long and the short of it is that it's unclear at this stage how strong the correlation is (also compared to that with adhd etc) and whether it exists just because people who are autistic care less about the opinion of 'general society' and therefore are more likely to come out if they are trans. So afaik, some evidence for correlation, nothing yet on why the correlation exists. But may be more research at this stage. I've not seen it though.
Trans people are sent for general mental health evaluations in all places where a diagnosis is (still) required (even though being trans was removed as a mental health issue in the DSM-5). I am not sure whether that specifically includes autism testing, as far as I know that would only happen if people show signs, and even then it's pretty hard to get access to autism testing.
Another option is that because trans people are so much more evaluated than the general population, they are more likely to find things.
So could be many different things even if the correlation is confirmed
Well yes. In some places they have started to (finally) adopt informed consent
There's all sorts of paperwork issues once the change is made, like often countries that require a diagnosis (for a non DSM condition, so pretty wild) won't recognise people who have transitioned (even for a long time) through self id. Making moving between countries extremely hard
Absolutely
So let's say you move from New York State to Europe, you can get your prescription continued in Spain, but possibly not in the Netherlands.
(this is GP dependent, making it even more wild)
Anyway apologies. None of this is news so not so relevant to OSINT

attacks on protesters at the Mayday event in Seattle yesterday: https://bsky.app/profile/matthewdtaylor.bsky.social/post/3lpxyawuw7s2w
This is one of the most disturbing videos I've seen recently, so prepare yourself...
I'm going to try to give some context for what's happening here, and why it should have all of us concerned about the spread of far-right Christian supremacy in America. 1/
I heard about this, thanks for sharing.

6 arrested at trans rights protest. 5 released, one will be seen in court tomorrow.
More on the Seattle incident - the preachers have organized a rally outside the mayor's office today, and the Alliance Defending Freedom is talking about suing the city on their behalf https://x.com/charisma_news/status/1927198815880151504
The same organizers are hosting a similar event in Los Angeles later this week on the 31st
I'm beginning research on an anti-LGBTQ hate-group which I believe organizes under the larger banner of Her Voice MVMT.
They are currently organizing a "tour" of provocateur events called "Mayday USA", which some papers have erroneously attributed as the organization name. They use the branding "Don't Mess With Our Kids" interchangeably.
If anyone is familiar with the group, which appears to be based in either Colorado or Texas, I would love to benefit from your knowledge.
I already have the primary websites for each Her Voice MVMT, Mayday USA, and the "Don't Mess With Our Kids" event organizers, as well as the self-written bio of the President/Founder, so I don't need the primary sources. Just any additional experience with the group which may not be publicly searchable.
The allegation that I'm investigating is whether they misrepresented the purpose of their latest event, in Seattle Washington on 5/24.
The event led to the arrests of several counter protestors in my community (which is historically the gay neighborhood).
They will next be in Los Angeles on Saturday, 5/31, so if I can I'd like to complete my research before that date and give the city a heads up in the hopes they rescind the permit.
(I've intentionally withheld all of the above links and names in order to discourage traffic and/or doxxing, but rest assured I do have them.)
Also, quick fix, I wrote her story instead of movement just now, video games on the brain. lol.
Fun fact: I reported their next location while covering the court hearing yesterday and they have since removed the dates from their website! So they've definitely seen me warning about it, and I take some pride in that.
Seattle Times article for context about the anti-trans event here in Cal Anderson:
Worth noting that On Fire Ministries, headed by well known militia hate preacher Matt Shea, was one of the sponsors for the Mayday event in Seattle.
I did know he was involved but On Fire Ministries was not on my radar, so thank you!

The group I mentioned above held a follow up protest (for which they were allegedly not permitted) yesterday.
During the improv concert, they announced that the FBI had agreed to investigate Seattle for “anti Christian bias and violence”.
Crucially, I believe they announced that ahead of the White House doing so.
Deputy director of the FBI confirmed this via Twitter shortly afterward. https://x.com/FBIDDBongino/status/1927519097757093947
We have asked our team to fully investigate allegations of targeted violence against religious groups at the Seattle concert.
Freedom of religion isn’t a suggestion.
This is the human who made that announcement, and his organization. Still investigating the connection to Her Voice MVMT.
While this was happening, counter protestors were covering the north wall with claims that the speakers had a history of anti-lgbtq and misogynist misconduct. (Still on my list to verify these individually)
Setting aside that they may have the attention of the feds, there’s another reason this combined effort from Johnson and Her Voice MVMT is concerning; I believe their intent is to astroturf police violence.
This video, posted by Her Voice MVMT CEO Jenny Donnelly, was posted within 24 hours of the Seattle event. It’s basically arrest porn. (Spoiler tagged for content)
They have one of these for every step in the tour, each with a quick turnaround. So they’ve got a template for these ready to go.
"After today, nobody will ever be the same." These are the words I heard when I woke up Saturday morning. I had no idea we would experience something that would mark us forever.
We've done three Mayday events with perfect peace, but in Seattle, we hit Goliath. The worship team went to sound check at 1pm, and the protesters were already coming ...
Unfortunately, it does appear to be working. Local right-wing agitator and disgraced journalist Johnathan Choe clubbed a protestor at yesterday’s event on video, and the police instead arrested the person he assaulted. They refused to view video evidence or acknowledge witnesses.
|| https://x.com/choeshow/status/1927512072772026572 ||
Choe mostly focuses on antagonizing un housed people in the hopes of capturing contextless video of aggression, but this isn’t his first foray into an explicitly anti-lgbtq event either.
#BREAKING: I’m ok. Thank you SPD for checking my video and arresting the far-left activists who assaulted me for doing my job. @FrontlinesTPUSA
Since the event, Johnson has promised to return in August. And again, the eye of Sauron has now officially turned to Seattle, which was almost certainly the goal.
So I would humbly submit that these are groups to keep a dedicated eye on.
Their next scheduled event is in Los Angeles on 5/31, so this Saturday.
If anyone is an LA local, now would be a good time to check in with your Parks department for wherever they have booked. I’ve received credible tips, which again, still verifying, that they falsified their applications for permits.
The allegation for the first event is that they applied as a “haircuts for kids in the park” event to educate on human trafficking, and then when they arrived just went anti-lgbtq.
For the second, which was organized within 24 hours, it is alleged they didn’t acquire the appropriate permits at all, but still had the full force of SPD protection and violence behind them.
A FOIA into your local parks and recc may not be returned in time, but I’d be delighted to read the results all the same. (I’ll be doing so locally)
This made me feel sick when I read it

Has any legislation that defines this and/or to this effect been passed? (sorry very busy so might have missed it if so)
Only via EO and it's had TROs placed on it in a few states by federal judges.
I think perhaps more alarming is that the "big beautiful bill" bans virtually all gender affirming care for those on ACA plans, Medicare or Medicaid
thanks
Texas just did basically the same thing by forcing all insurance providers to cover “detransition” costs with no limit even for people who transitioned before they had said plan, most insurance policies due to the sheer costs will most likely just stop covering gender care for adults
I mean, the sheer costs of a tiny percentage of a tiny percentage of people seems low
It's messy, because the insurance comes from wherever your company wants to buy it from. So you might be in Texas, have Illinois insurance, and be completely fine. It isn't a two way street though because states like IL have shield laws that stop out of state insurers from denying care to residents.
It's hard to tell what the effect of a lot of this stuff will be. TX's laws are obviously hostile, I think we still have to wait and see to know what will come from it.
Well considering insurance companies have been eager to drop gac, and really all care to save money, I’d be quite surprised if they didn’t use this as an opportunity to say “sorry we can’t cover it it’s too expensive”
But I guess you’re right, best case scenario trans Texans will lose GAC in 2027 instead of 2026
Wait until they start requiring surgical mutilation for transgender people to get out of state mental hospitals.
to come to some kind of understanding it would be helpful to specify what kind of insurance - health insurance offered by employers, for example, doesn't necessarily cover only the state minimum requirements. additionally, insurance isn't free to drop whatever it wants - that's based on laws like the affordable care act which still stands, etc. so I think that specifying what exactly you are talking about helps the discussion along
additionally, I'd mention that speculation isn't something we look for in this server
In Texas it’s all insurance. Private, ACA, Medicare and Medicaid.
One sec
i'm looking for sourcing on "most insurance policies due to the sheer cost will most likely just stop covering gender care for adults"

the more i hear about this visit, the worse it gets
This framing is beneath contempt. The Christian right and MAGA launched an unprecedented assault on the civil rights of a tiny minority and successfully weaponized the pseudoliberal establishment - led by the NYT - to provide it with a medical controversy pretext that doesn’t actually exist.

They'll all have to be read out at TGDOR, I hope we have their names. 😢
This is a good point, I don't know how to get their names
via that lawyer, or the overseas community of Iranian decent I guess?
Is anybody investigating soyjak.party? Since taking down 4chan they have surged in popularity, and the sense of a concerted metapolitical 'vibe-shift' that has followed feels uncannily inorganic alongside targeting trans/queer content creators with swarm harrassment tactics to 'protect children from 'EPI'. It's giving me Internet Research Agency flashbacks.
Tangentially, does anybody have any resources network forensic material/logs etc from other known state-sponsored bot farms/weaponised OSINT sites that could be used as comparative case studies in an investigation?
I’m trying to find information on whether or not transgender health care clinics in Finland have collaborated with anti-LGBT organizations in the US and UK or elsewhere. There are several claims on social media regarding Finnish connections to the Florida Medical Board in the US as well as The Manhattan Institute. I am trying to evaluate claims from an academic view point (gender studies and political theory) and get a better understanding on what type of collaboration possibly has taken place and how serious it is / or isn’t.
Any leads are welcome! Thank you.
The source for the connections to Florida is this case in Finland among others:

Was this a deliberate target? They must have had intel on the fact that the prison housed trans inmates. Any sources on whether they deliberately targeted trans prisoners?
I have no idea how one would find that information using open sources
Keep an eye on Israeli journalism?
There are Human Rights and women’s and LGBT organizations operating in the area but of course there’s a language barrier. And then official news. The public statement from Israel’s side in the news is that they wanted to strike a symbol of oppression, which the prison was for the Iranian state. However, they did target a fully housed prison, without a possibility to evacuate the inmates, so technically a war crime.
It seems that most news cite the original NYT piece, the prison housed political prisoners who opposed the regime. And its ”trans ward” seems to have housed persons who had been charged and detained for very arbitrary resons.
This is from 2019, describing the ”trans ward”

I'm sort of distressed personally [by] the the lack of compassion that is sometimes there in the debate over trans rights um among a range of people. I think we need as a party to be able to have open conversations about contested issues…

Related to this, here is the speaker list of the 2025 SEGM-conference, which is listed as a hate group by SPLC:
This is from 2017, but of course still relevant. They’ve had years to organize.
Alliance Defending Freedom and its international wing has had a strong interest in Finland for a couple of years due to a high publicity free speech/hate speech trial involving a Finnish conservative Christian MP. When searching on this I found that ADF also has noticed the Finnish trans health doctor whose name keeps showing up in SEGM and related events and who has given a statement to the Florida Medical Board.
This is wellknown in trans advocacy circles. Erin in the morning, transgendermap, and others have been posting about SEGM, and Kaltiala for many years.

Thank you! I appreciate the sources.
In Finland it seems that academics and journalists for instance either do not know this or are unwilling to bring up these affiliations. Perhaps out of fear of defamation law suits. When lgbtqi+ or trans rights groups talk about Kaltiala’s connections, they are labeled as incompetent in medical knowledge and as activists. And of course ”gender-ideology” proponents.
I wonder what the connections are to The Heritage Foundation and Project 2025?
I think there's a trend where many countries and/or publications don't want to follow academic protocols and rather both-sides it from a political perspective. The money and attention that's thrown at the anti-trans hategroups by the christian right and certain authors really doesn't help.
Heritage foundation is probably bankrolling quite a bit, particulalry in the US, but all this predates 2025 afaik

removing titles from trans men who transitioned after earning womens-category titles, and offering to reinstute them on detransitioning, really shows this organization's true face
The organization will also remove some titles won by players who won in women's categories and later transitioned to male. It will also remove some titles won by transgender men.
…
Transgender men who won in women's events before transitioning will have their titles abolished. The titles could be renewed if a player detransitions and can "prove the ownership of the respective FIDE ID that holds the title," the federation said. Abolished titles may also be transferred into a "general title of the same or lower level."
Meanwhile, transgender women can keep any titles they earned before they transitioned.

Hospitals in Chicago started scaling back gender affirming care earlier this year after an executive order on Jan. 28 from the Trump administration.
…trans advocates and families are calling on Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Attorney General Kwame Raoul to do more to protect trans rights.
“So often we see elected officials say they stand with us in private, and in public play the neutral, and we’re seeing that now,”
…
Raoul has declined repeated requests to explain how hospitals in Chicago aren’t violating the law. In April, he told WBEZ he didn’t see Lurie or Northwestern as “a bad actor.” “You can’t (be) said to be acting discriminatory when the federal government is holding a gun to your head,” he said.
Dozens of families and advocates have written to Raoul asking him to enforce the law and demand that hospitals keep providing treatment.
…
Pritzker has defended hospitals, too. Advocates and families know Raoul and Pritzker support trans rights, but they want them to hold hospitals accountable. They point to how much these politicians have publicly supported abortion care, such as at press conferences alongside abortion providers and legally fighting to protect access.
“I think the frustration for a lot of parents is that Illinois consistently touts itself as a safe state for gender-affirming care,” said Michelle Vallet, who is Garcia’s mom. “And it’s not. Those words are empty.”
McMaher wants Pritzker to meet with trans families — Raoul has met with some — and stand alongside advocates when they rally for trans rights.

also, as best as I can tell from media coverage, it’s not even clear that the employee WAS trans? not that there would be any legitimate basis for a complaint if she was, but like…the text of the complaint by the mother just asserts that the employee was “obviously” trans because of how tall she was

Hate against straight people is crazy from dis thread
Which thread? Can you give an example?
That's a common cis supremacist claim, like that gay people are discriminating against heterosexuals or that they want to turn everyone else gay. It's the "gay agenda" to groom children, according to them, on the basis of takes like that one. But, maybe I'm reading too much into it because I'm frequently the target of such attacks.
no I’m reading it the same way
I am confused, what hate? Is reporting on "our harm" (on an opt-in thread) about these problems any threathening to persons not affected?
Hi all, I agree it sounds bad, but there is a small chance they meant something else, so I'm giving them the chance to explain.
Oh yeah, I'm curious too
People do come here with all kinds of language backgrounds, for example. They get a chance to explain and then we'll know more.
This straight person never felt hate from any thread in this server.

The UK is imposing a trans bathroom ban by fiat and it's being done by their equivalent of the Democrats.Trans men will be banned from all bathrooms and facilities because they're banned from the men's for being AFAB while being banned from the women's for looking like men and "causing alarm."

Sean Feucht had an event in my city yesterday and I wasn't aware of it at all.
Yea he's been going under the radar, booking in "churches" (not actual churches) or other people's names, it's been interesting for those trying to stay one step ahead.
It seems like for this event it was announced (on socials) just a few hours before the start, no advertisement in advance.
I see today he's supposedly back in the US, so it'll be interesting to see what happens at the border when he tries crossing into Canada for a show Aug 20th in Winnipeg. As a US citizen he can't just cross the border and accept money for his performances in Canada without the proper licensing and permits. And if he wasn't on the Canadian border watchlist before, he is now. https://www.bandsintown.com/a/371420-sean-feucht
Thanks! I’m curious too, since the event space he used last night is typically available by permit only. Maybe this was a case too where someone else’s name was used to obtain the permits? I’m going to set up a google alert.
Feel free to DM me if you want to see if we can pinpoint a story here with some OSINV.

your party ecosystem is defined not just by politicians or the party, but also some of the loudest voices online that in voters minds reflect and represent that broader coalition in a world where many voters get their news online.
When we have an environment where we've got some very loud people who are shaming and calling people who disagree with them, even in just rhetoric bigots, when we have those folks saying that to a wide swath of voters, including voters we could win, and we aren't explicitly stating something to the contrary, then a voter will then just paint us all with one broad brush.

More and more people reporting today that Stripe - the payment processor that Itch said were putting the most pressure on them - now have staff actively confirming that yes, they are censoring LGBT content, adult or otherwise. That this is official company policy.
This seems kinda significant.

You can find the TOS for Stripe here: https://stripe.com/en-de/legal/ssa
I am trying to verify if its official for Germany
In the official website in Germany the following is stated for the moment:
Adult content and services (see the FAQs for additional details)
In the prohibited businesses section:
"Businesses that engage in, encourage, promote, or celebrate unlawful violence toward any group based on race, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or any other immutable characteristic"
"Adult services, including prostitution, escorts, pay-per-view, sexual massages, fetish services, mail-order brides, and adult live-chat features
Adult video stores
Gentleman's clubs, topless bars, and strip clubs
Pornography and other mature audience content (including literature, imagery, and other media) depicting nudity or explicit sexual acts
Any artificial-intelligence generated content that meets the above criteria
"
So they would be in breach of their own policy
Archived: https://archive.ph/KY14k
Thus far I have only seen English-speaking users in the US and the UK complain about this particular problem. So it remains to be seen how Stripe will apply it to other jurisdictions.
Unfortunately the usual strategy in similar situations was simply to label LGBT+ content as "pornography" without further explanation of their definition of the term.
Its a good thing there are plenty of alternatives especially in the EU then. (I could provide a link but I am not sure if that is actually allowed. Anyone interested can DM me I guess)
The thread has been updated with more info and audio recordings.
For whatever it's worth, Stripe is claiming that it's all a big misunderstanding now...

Does anyone here have more sources related to the fossil industry claims above? ⬆️
Not directly.
A recently report of the European Parliamentary Forum has pointed out which US organizations are financially supporting Anti-LGBT+ politics in the EU. Many of the organizations mentioned in the report have direct or indirect links to fossil fuel billionaires: For example, the Alliance Defending Freedom has taken money from fossil fuel billionaire Charles Koch. The Koch family also funds the Federalist Society, another org fighting against LGBT+ rights in the US and the EU.
Though many orgs obscure where their funding is coming from (such as the Heritage Foundation) or have connections to various wealthy institutions and individuals.

UK politician having a real hard time being normal about trans people, despite joining the new corbyn/sultana party, where transphobia presumably is going to be a serious liability
Last Friday, Mr Hussain was asked about the position that the new party – which has the temporary name of Your Party – would take on LGBT issues and single-sex spaces.
The MP for Blackburn wrote on X: “Women’s rights and safe spaces should not be encroached upon. Safe third spaces should be an alternative option.”
…
On being accused of “trans hate” by India Willoughby, a transgender journalist, Mr Hussain said: “There was no hatred expressed, India, it’s a conversation that needs to be had.
“Agreeing with women on their need for spaces exclusive to them is not an expression of hatred to any other community. I stated the need for safe spaces for trans people, that’s not hatred.”
When asked by a prospective supporter of the new party whether he believed trans women were women, Mr Hussain replied: “They’re not biologically women, hence trans-women.”
And indicating his support for single-sex toilets, split on the basis of biological sex, he added: “We’re talking about toilets, most sane people want to be segregated in a toilet.”

coverage of longtime transphobe Graham Linehan being arrested on entering the UK for inciting violence
Linehan said he was taken to a cell and then questioned over the X posts, published in April.
One said: [CW transphobia] “||If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.||”
The writer said after questioning by police his blood pressure had reached “stroke territory” and he was taken to hospital and kept under observation, before being released on bail.

He then repeats 'I'm going to sue you into the ground' three times, adding: 'F***ing b****ds. How dare you?'
When told to 'calm down' by police, Linehan - who was taken to hospital over his high blood pressure - fired back: 'I won't calm down!'.

The House passed its version of the fiscal 2026 defense policy bill today … The 231-196 vote was split mostly down party lines due to the addition of Republican-backed amendments on culture war issues, such as several measures pertaining to transgender individuals.
…
Rep. Adam Smith, the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, announced on Tuesday that he would not support the bill if it included “problematic amendments included in the rule that focus on divisive topics rather than strengthening our national security.”
…
“We didn’t get any of the amendments or debates that we wanted. Not a single solitary one,” he said on the floor today.

background on the issues with this bill:
HR 4016 [bans] funding for gender affirming care for all active duty troops and their families. It also mandates that none of the funds be used to abolish or reconfigure Guantanamo Bay, the United States military prison in Cuba infamous for torturing inmates. Notably, Guantanamo Bay is also used to detain immigrants for years, including transgender immigrants as of earlier this year. The bill also bans COVID-19 vaccination mandates for soldiers and their families, while nevertheless granting tens of billions of dollars for all branches of the military and federal agencies.

This is referenced in the wikipedia article on the shooting, -without- the CNN disclaimer that " From January 2013 to the present, of the more than 5,700 mass shootings in America (defined as four or more victims shot and killed), five shooters were confirmed as transgender, said Mark Bryant, founding executive director of the Gun Violence Archive. Side note: My dad is a retired prosecutor and he told me the following:
The FBl cannot arrest people without probable cause that that they have violated criminal federal law.
So even if Trump announced this designation, it's essential to understand this fact.
No one is in immediate danger over this.
But that could change.

Alberta looks to use notwithstanding clause on its 3 transgender laws: memo
Rarely used provision allows governments to override certain sections of the Charter for up to 5 years
"Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's office has directed officials to invoke the Charter's notwithstanding clause in amending three laws that affect transgender people, says a leaked government memo obtained by The Canadian Press."

To note, something not mentioned in the article or by Premier Smith and often forgotten, is that Québec is the only province to have NOT signed the Constitution Act in 1982. I hope that at some point, someone somewhere remembers this and shares this tidbit in future reporting.

'stable gender identity' is such a weird parameter. Lots of people have a gender fluid or gender queer identity where their 'stable' is that it's never stable.
Are they happy I think is a far more important question?
Some people take years, decades to figure self out. Not all even are sure despite full transition. But are happy with route they took.
If whatever 'still questions / not stable enough' studies were to have much meaning, we'd see much more voluntary detransitions happening. Meanwhile they are rare.
What's stable enough? Who gets to define the "enough?"
I have not read whatever waas linked to, but am sure (I'm not) they quantify the metric. [/cynical]

The provisions are becoming a key sticking point in the ongoing fight to keep the government open.
-# ↩ Erin Reed (@erininthemorning.com)
2. On Tuesday morning, Trump took to Truth Social with a rambling post announcing he would refuse to negotiate unless Democrats “agree to the principles in this letter.” Those “principles” included a slate of anti-trans measures—from bans on transgender healthcare to nationwide sports restrictions.
His work has been cited not only by Trump’s HHS but in other prominent attacks on transgender health care, including an amicus brief in support of Chiles v. Salazar, the upcoming Supreme Court case seeking to overturn Colorado’s conversion therapy ban for minors.
In short, it was the prevailing assumption on all sides that Guyatt was not in favor—or at least quite skeptical—of transgender health care.
But in August, Guyatt and four colleagues at McMaster [University] made waves with a letter distancing themselves from SEGM and arguing that their work had been “misrepresented and misinterpreted.”
“It is profoundly misguided to cast health care based on low-certainty evidence as bad care or as care driven by ideology, and low-certainty evidence as bad science. Many of the interventions we offer are based on low certainty evidence, and enlightened individuals often legitimately and wisely choose such interventions.”
Using GRADE to justify bans, Guyatt and his colleagues wrote, was “a clear violation of the principles of evidence-based shared decision-making.”

Wes Streeting talking to the mumsnet transphobes
Streeting says, “I think this is primarily an issue about women's rights, voices, and spaces ... so we've got to make sure the guidance has real world application. I don't think anyone, for example, would think it desirable for a trans man, so someone who's born female, but for all intents and purposes—hairy arms, beard, voice, identity—[to wander] into women's toilets or goes to a women's ward or another women's space. I think that would be undignified and unpleasant for everyone concerned. I think we've got to try and find a way that trans women are in a space that is dignified, and safe, and inclusive for them, that doesn't impact on women's sex-based rights and spaces.”
“So that sounds like third spaces,” Justine Roberts helpfully points out.
“I think, for trans women, yes, that is where we're looking,” Streeting confirms. “I know there will be lots of people, probably some Mumsnet users and lots of people in the LGBTQ community and allies, who would say that that's outrageous, I can't believe you're even saying that, you're a gay Health Secretary, how could you countenance this? I'm trying to find a way through all this that maybe not everyone loves, but everyone can live with, and treats people with dignity and respect. I think where this conversation went so badly wrong was a lack of understanding of why, in a women's rights context, the majority of our population ... feels strongly about protecting [single-sex spaces].”

In French only, trying to find English language reporting that isn't so ad filled. Until then...
The CAQ (provincial party in Quebec, Canada currently in power) has decided via the linguistic office of the French language that inclusive language will no longer be used in any state communications to increase clarity. This includes schools, universities and provincial government.
Quebec was seen as leader in this realm (in the French language); French is very binary (masculine or feminine) as it is with many Latin based languages. So these changes to the language were welcomed by some, hated by others, and it's been a debate for a few years. Usually, the province leans very liberal especially on matters of gender and gender politics, so this decision came as a shock to many.
Direct translation of the title - Inclusive communications: Legault government banning the use of 'iel' and 'toustes'
(iel = used as non binary pronoun instead of il or elle, toustes = non binary version of all instead of tout, tous or toutes).
Nation piece highlighting the tendency in some U.S. Dems to abandon/ignore/join in anti-trans discrimination for dubious electoral reasons. for example,
[Searchlight Institute head Adam] Jentleson claimed in an interview with Semafor that he was actually trying to help trans people, saying, “The people who are throwing trans people under the bus are the ones insisting that Democrats take maximalist positions, even if it causes them to lose elections to Republicans who then tear up these rights.”
The implication here seems to be that Democrats can turn a big dial that says “transphobia” on it to some ideal level—that there’s a sweet spot of anti-trans discrimination that everyone can be content with. (Everyone, presumably, except trans people themselves.) But the events of the past year should have put that idea to rest. Democrats and centrists have been distancing themselves from trans people—indeed, top Democratic figures like Chuck Schumer will barely say the word “trans”—and the only forces that have benefited are the forces of anti-trans fascism. You can’t just play these kinds of games with people’s lives.

This is a London Review of Books (LRB) blog post on a spate of deepfake/computer model videos that are apparently doing rounds on far right telegram with the intent to disinfo 'migrants hurting white women'. Also discusses the curious phenomenon that the people partaking in the viewig of such content know it is fake while still thinking it describes reality, e.g.
"Everyone in the comments knew the video was AI-generated, but they engaged with it and shared it with others, most of whom also knew it was fake. ‘It actually does not matter if this is AI-generated,’ one user wrote. ‘It is describing exactly what is happening in Britain right now to a tee.’ Debunking would have been of little use when, days later, the real Musk was beamed into the march to say more or less the same thing. bitterness & bigotry from J.K. Rowling about Emma Watson & Daniel Radcliffe’s support of trans rights
(cw, transphobia)
In a lengthy post, Rowling writes: … “However, Emma [Watson] and Dan [Radcliffe] in particular have both made it clear over the last few years that they think our former professional association gives them a particular right – nay, obligation – to critique me and my views in public.”
…
||In her post, Rowling says she has “repeatedly declined invitations” to comment on Watson’s views, as she “didn’t want her to be hounded as the result of anything I said”, and describes a note she was given from Watson, following her 2022 Baftas remarks. “This was back when the death, rape and torture threats against me were at their peak, at a time when my personal security measures had had to be tightened considerably and I was constantly worried for my family’s safety. Emma had just publicly poured more petrol on the flames, yet thought a one line expression of concern from her would reassure me of her fundamental sympathy and kindness.”||
||… I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous. I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women’s rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges.”||
||Rowling had earlier indicated that she was unprepared to forgive Watson and Radcliffe for having “cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women’s hard-won rights”.||

Texas Observer with an article here on the new trans bathroom bill. Apparently it circumbents legislation to defend onsesself in court so the law should be unconstitutional. (again, am not in/from the US, so limited in my comprehension)
With anti-trans policies now openly backed by President Donald Trump’s federal government, it’s perhaps unsurprising that state officials feel confident passing more extreme measures. But beyond the harmful effects the law is likely to have on transgender and gender non-conforming people, it may also allow Republicans to weaponize transphobia against public institutions. The law enables the state to investigate and levy massive fines against schools, libraries, or other entities that they suspect of violations. In addition, it’s designed to be especially difficult to challenge in court, in ways that experts say are likely to be unconstitutional.

Bari Weiss new lead @CBS . Am expecting them to become significantly worse in their coverage of trans issues.
Newsom dismissed Assembly Bill 86, a measure that would have tweaked language about health education standards for kindergarten through 8th grade.
Republicans latched onto the legislation as an example of “gender ideology” at work in state government, with the Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones (R) demanding Newsom veto it.
The bill promotes the “theory that reproductive anatomy does not necessarily determine a person’s gender,” Jones wrote in a message to Newsom.
“For third grade students the framework states, ‘When providing instruction on sexual and reproductive organs, teachers can introduce the concept that gender does not always match the sexual and reproductive organs described,’” Jones said. “Teaching controversial gender theories to students as young as eight or nine years old is not a practice that most Californians support, nor want to see happening in our schools.”
In a signing message, Newsom kicked the can.
He was vetoing the legislation, he said, because the bill should be considered after a state study scrutinizing health curricula was completed.
Newsom has been under scrutiny by the LGBTQ+ community since March, when he invited young conservative influencer Charlie Kirk on his podcast and agreed that trans student-athletes competing with cisgender girls was “unfair.”

The pivotal moment [of the 2024 U.S. presidential election], to [Jonathan] Chait, was an ad cut by the Trump campaign using an answer Harris gave in 2020 to a question from the American Civil Liberties Union on the rights of trans incarcerated people, an example of what the pundit called an “edgy, leftist policy commitment in a campaign that consisted of little else.”
By citing the answer on trans prisoners, Chait is not talking about a tack to the center; he is instead making an appeal for the party to move right — the far right.
The idea that Harris’s position on trans rights was even a left-wing stance is a Trump campaign talking point, one hammered home by Fox News pundits day in and day out. It ignored that Harris was simply repeating established legal practice for the rights of those prisoners, policy that was in place at the time under the Trump administration. Chait bought it all hook, line, and sinker: making a case not for centrism, but for anti-trans demagoguery.

Vibeke Bergsjø Aas (photo) has written a report on transgender people and safe spaces in the Church of Norway. It gives an interesting glimpse into the challenges facing trans people in this cultural setting.
The report explores what the concept of “safe spaces” can mean for transgender people within the Church of Norway, and how church communities can contribute to creating such spaces.
The title, Visible and Invisible, refers both to the experience of trans people being simultaneously unseen and overexposed, and to the theological distinction between the visible and invisible in creation.
The Church of Norway is the largest church in the country. It used to be the Lutheran state church, but is now independent. Compared to, let's say, American Evangelicals, the protestantism of the Church of Norway is rather liberal and open minded, with - for instance - both female and queer priests and bishops.

A surprising shift is taking place in the gender and sexual identities of young Americans. so on the question in the graph is it just showing nonbinary folks?
The full thread frames it as less people reporting as trans, queer, NB. Which it separates from Gay, Lesbian and hetero
The "study" is by Eric Kaufman, a DeSantis supporter who left his post at the University of London citing "cancel culture." He believes that trans identity is a social contagion.
Here's what he believes his study proves.
i wouldn’t be surprised if a decline was seen in NB folks since that’s a more difficult spot to be in, vs a binary trans person who can live in stealth
like personally i don’t identify publicly unless its need to know part of why i moved was to blend in more
It's a "report". Doubt it's peer reviewed consequentially, link to archive of that ehterodox bla bla dept he published the report aat https://archive.ph/dhMOm

If you had read the Hex Andersen link you'd see the methodology is bunk and none of this is based in anything. I appreciate the sentiment of what you are saying, but this is disinformation about trans people, not an accurate stat.
Oh. So people haven't stopped identifying as nonbinary under the grinding heel of fascist idiocy?
I don't think any accurate reporting or reseaarch has been done, so at this stage the most accurate answer is probably "we don't know"

There are official police reports confirming that Aishat Baymuradova, a woman who fled Chechnya to Armenia with the help of human rights organizations, has been reported missing. According to information from human rights activists and neighbors, Aishat disappeared in Yerevan on October 15, 2025, after going to meet a friend whose social media includes connections to Ramzan Kadyrov's circle. Neighbors reported her disappearance to the police, but there has been no significant response or updates from law enforcement so far.
The human rights community suspects that she might have been forcibly returned to her family, considering similar past cases in the region. The police report has been filed, but public statements or detailed information about the investigation have not been made available.

“We acknowledge concerns that have been raised,” the researchers wrote in their August statement. “Our research agreement with SEGM ended in 2024. When the agreement started in 2021, the organization appeared to us as non-trans, cis-gender researchers to be legitimately evidence-based.
“We will no longer accept funding from SEGM,” they wrote.
Those assurances were welcomed by the university community as a positive first step and a rare win for student organizers. The researchers also claimed to have made an unspecified donation to Egale Canada, the country’s leading LGBTQ2S+ rights organization.

The proposal to condition a hospital's participation in Medicaid and Medicare on halting gender-affirming care for youth represents an "unprecedented" use of the executive branch's power to control what medical care is available in hospitals, says [Georgetown Center for Health Policy and the Law director Katie] Keith.
"Because Medicare is such a significant portion of many hospitals' revenue," she explains, the rule would essentially force hospitals to end their gender care programs for transgender youth. That would mean all of those programs' patients — whether they have Medicaid or private insurance — would lose access.
This is not how the federal government normally uses this type of rule, Keith says. She served in the Biden administration on the Gender Policy Council, and worked on some "conditions of participation" regulations for Medicare and Medicaid, she says. "They're so basic — it's like, you have to have a crash cart [with] enough medicine to help a pregnant woman in crisis."
Instead of health and safety standards, this proposal would instruct hospitals "to stop offering a certain type of care completely to a certain patient population," she says.
Law professor Katie Eyer of Rutgers University questions whether such a rule would survive a court challenge. "But if it were successful, I shudder to think what this administration would do with such a tool in their hands,"

I hope I’m never caught alive in an emergency in a catholic hospital, because I know I won’t have much of a chance of remaining alive if I do.
Doctors by and large already don’t understand much and don’t care to learn anything about our biology or health risks.
An outright refusal to learn such as in this case is a guarantee that any trans person will receive substandard care in any health related scenario.
But we’re creeping ever closer towards that line of “saving a life is against my religious beliefs if the person is _____”
Heard a lot of stories of I will not treat you because I don't know/can't treat transgender health problems when it cames to things not even related, like pneumonia, severe allergies or tooth removal.
In 'normal' healthcare around the world. Anti-trans policy in a hospital will make such even worse.
My local hospital was doing this as recently as 2010- at least as was last publicly reported.
Since then, they’ve gotten someone on the board in every department who is at least familiar with transgender healthcare/ biology
Though the changes haven’t reflected in the preventative practices
I am too early in my journey to have experienced such 'care' but I did have my taste of rejecting me referals to specialist once doctor found out what I am up to (again, unrelated).
There’s still a lot of “you’re sick because you’re trans”, “I don’t know how to treat trans people. You figure it out.” and “your sickness is in your head because you’re trans”
I’ve gotten a decent bit of it. I’m about 6 years in
Also count in This issue you have must be <hormone> related, go off that hormone for few months and return
Lots of “trans broken arm syndrome”
Yes this
I’ve been accused of everything from incompetence to maliciousness to explain away blood panel results
Over things like anemia even
I have literally no control over that
That's horrible, I'm so sorry it happened to you
Bar is very low and we are treated below that already. "Fun" to hear of extra bad policies
We’re doing decent for a third world country
Fair, healthcare for transpeople worldwide is very mixed
Yeah, I’m in a server for trans Scandinavians and a server for trans Germans and the care between our three nations is extremely varied
But Europe has our healthcare system beat by a long shot in the “a trans person is still a person” category
I'm in an international one and the experiences I hear... there is a lot.
It really underpins the argument of how much politics influences, and thereby dirties the practice of science
Also there are so many aspects there aren't really good and bad places to be transgender. Ok, more or less better/worse, and terrible are a thing.
But for countries with good care you will often find severe gatekeeping or other issues.
While expectations are to just... be treated like a cis person.
I mean, there are more needs. But challenge is to get normal, human, basic things.
The place I’ve found to be most forgiving from a purely medical perspective is Thailand, and even that’s complicated because they have much of the same problem of politics and religion being confused for science, just from a different perspective than the West.
But nobody is going to gatekeep any of your medical needs there beyond what’s proven medically necessary- like electrolysis before surgery.
Note that Thailand has different perspective for customers from abroad and locals, nationals, who have it worse. But I am not informed enough to state more than that
I’m aware, and that was accounted for in the phrasing of my statement about Thailand
I’m not praising Thailand with my statement
Oh of course, it did not sound like praise anyway
Im very disillusioned with the state of the people in this world lol
The people reinforcing these systems and institutions in particular
Because you know shits bad when the best healthcare you’ve got is the most cold, dystopian version of said healthcare.
Globally, the politics of trans healthcare is just another form of profiteering on human suffering- human suffering that those doing the healing are themselves incentivized to create, not unlike the Military Industrial Complex.

we’re in rough seas, niblings

I expect that the fed will be using perjury as the mechanism to invalidate the passports of everyone who obtained one/ applied for one under the attestation
It was painfully obvious what they were doing from the onset
I wonder if it's still worth it to do a name change on a passport or if that's also risky
