Agreed but... Redesigning a second model requires a new animation set.
Will the armors have a feminine design?
If so, additional items and fitting/interaction animations are needed. etc... Still a desired addition non the less... I am just enjoying the game as it is coming along... FEMALE all aspects still very much a WANT less Male Hegemony in gaming 😄 females are gamers also!
I get it if you cant have female cch's due to issues like budget ect. well then, dont give the option at all. haveing a non option like that is just insulting.
did you check all the outfits? some have a more "feminine" shape, you could go with those 🙂
All of them look like a man in drag..
Agree.
I assume it's a "we're trying to avoid having to style multiple clothes / do additional animations" sort of thing. It's between a man, and a woman with an androgynous look. Which is cool too. But having more variety is always best.
The clothes could go much farther to give the appearance of a slender body if they really don't want to change the model itself. A cinched-waist look, for example, with a tucked shirt that pulls out slightly and a skirt with some A-line oomph can give a waist a smaller appearance. The bigger the skirt the less broad the shoulders will look.
Hey, i get it. Like i said originally, if you dont have the recourses for both genders, thats ok. Its understandable. But this is veaugly offensive. No im not an acavist, im not going to be carrying a torch or pitchfork, but im free to give my opinion.
Wait... they're not? lol... I agree. Just not a half naked sex object... I can't stand that trope.
I’m sure they have plans to improve the player customization choices in the future. Better to work on more important features before customization ones
The female characters still look... oof
I agree! The game was obviously designed originally around a male protagonist called Len, and then somewhere along the way they decided to allow a kind of character customisation but just failed pretty miserably.
I understand the HUGE amount of work it would be to create more body types, rework all the armor accordingly, but if that isn't feasible, I'd say get rid of the character customisation completely. No name, no gender - just Len, maybe you pick his hair and clothes and leave it like that.
Half assing the female character like this just isn't great and will definitely put off people that want to play as a female char.
Agreed, am, I used to playing a male character ofc. But if a female is going to be available naturally I'd go for it but I mean at least give me more than just a head change and even that's just not there
The option as-is and some people find it offensive. Not giving the option and some people would find it offensive not having the choice. Could go endlessly like this...
Even if you did want to play as a female character instead of the sexy Len, surely you can move past it to enjoy the game. Even Len is pretty low quality, Len doesnt even have animations for sitting or laying down yet. Dont bash the entire rest of the game because they havent put weeks into designing everything for a female character yet. Game mechanics and story should be prioritized over useless customization options
Yeah as someone who was waiting for multiplayer not having a smooth time either. It may be useless to you but for others not so. But hey I also wouldn't be surprised if you were represented in most games anyway so it might just sound useless to you 🤷🏽♀️
As a female gamer, trying to speak to balance, the male character model also leaves much to be desired. i dont think any slight was intended by anyone and tbh what about all the unrepresenting skin tones and body types?
While i understand a desire to feel represented. I also approach that desire with a bit of empathy and understanding for the state of the game overall. While hoping in the future we can then recieve the same empathy and understanding at a more appropriate time when glaring problems have been fixed and more attention can be focused on matters such as this.
I just bought the game for my daughter (13) to play with me. Her first comment when picking the "feminine" shirt was "Eww, look at those muscles." I think fixing some bugs like getting stuck in the floor when using a double bed, or crossbow disappearing off the ship are certainly higher priority. However, getting a nicer female model option would be nice before maybe moving on to more content.
I need thick goth mommy character preset for $4.99 plus tax and have custom voice noises when she swings her axe and stuff
Honestly, I wouldn't even care about sexualizing our characters so much as having some.... nicer clothes that at least make the females actually look... like a female and not a male. Like there's a few feminine looking shirts, but honestly it still looks like a guy just put it on and decided to call himself a girl. Maybe just some basic re-coloring so we can at least mix+match some of the outfits. Maybe just a VERY SLIGHT show that there's a chest there, like just enough that it's not a washboard. Someone mentioned their 13 year old playing and I thinking about it in a sense of younger kids playing this game, something with just very slight changes but nothing too crazy would be nice imo.
I was happy playing as a male, but as I went through the character creation process I had to agree; this game just doesnt do the female body style any justice right now. I dont think anyone really wants/needs super-curvy barbie dolls; just a slightly decent female form would be fine. Thats unfortunate.
Question: if there's a (feminine) female character, would they need... shoes?
😋
Never!
Shoes haven’t been invented and never will
To be honest as a female gamer, I prefer this vague female representation over the standard hyper-sexualized female aesthetic offered by most games. The only time I noticed the "masculine" body was in character design and I went with the tunic top+tight pants. Once I was in the world and playing I feel like my character looks like a woman compared to my partner's character. Though maybe more typically feminine hairstyles could be a compromise if it's easier to incorporate instead of entirely new character models?
This game is good as it is but yes there should be more character customizing options
