Doesn't really specify whether you have to actually showcase stuff with your advertisement just states that ads go in the showcase channels

interpreting the law against someone who enforces it is kind of a stupid idea but in my opinion the rule is titled "Follow the given channel topic" and the given channel topic is not self promotion but showcase and as the rule does not say "advertisements belong in showcase" but instead sais "Advertisements are not allowed outside of showcase channels." which in my opinion suggests that in showcase channels, while not precisely being the channel topic, they are tolerated

Well taking into account that within a forum channel type (like showcase is) I'd argue that each thread is a channel and the channel topic is determined by the person who made the thread, "showcase" is just the umbrella term, bcs in this case they would've been "showcasing" their advertisement
