This one's an oddball suggestion but I was thinking, in the same way that barrels/chests on the locomotive itself already take coal and such as fuel, perhaps a dedicated block (call it a "Tender Interface" for lack of a better name)? Naturally, this would be attached somewhere on the carriage right behind the locomotive, but still allow for the same speed increase as would be if the fuel were given to storage on the locomotive itself. Obviously a realism thing, figured I'd throw the idea out there.

like fuel tanks?

In essence, yes. But not a container unto itself as much as a marker of sorts to glue onto the second carriage. As if to say, "Hey, take fuel from this carriage to speed up the whole train."

The container itself would be whatever onboard storage you glue to the same carriage as the block/device (barrels, chests, etc.)

Working on only the frontmost carriage would be borked on trains with leading, driving and trailing bogeys so if it doesn't work on any carriage it should

yeah, most of my locos have the fuels stored in the theoretical 4th carriage and they all run fine (realistic fuel setting on)

Hmm. Well then, I suppose I've been further behind on the updates to the Create mod and its add-ons than I thought. Haha sorry if I seemed daft😅

I thought the fuel had to be on the same bogey that was being controlled
