(This post is to clarify some misconceptions surrounding the annual Mob vote, not necessarily about the mobs featured in the 2023 vote)
TLDR at bottom

It has come to my attention that many people across the internet are trying to “boycott” the current mob vote, as they don’t want to settle for just one of the 3 mobs (Crab, Armadillo, Penguin) and would rather have all of them.

I’d like to make it clear that the losing mobs and features from any Mob Vote will NOT be discarded, but rather be shelved to be implemented into the game later. People seemed misinformed about what will happen to the losing options, and seem to believe Mojang will discard them all, similar to the very first Mob Vote (the one where the Phantom won).

However, Mojang themselves have stated that all mobs and features shown in the vote will all be added into Minecraft eventually, but you, the players, get to choose which features get implemented first via the yearly vote. A great example of this are Frogs, Chestboats, and the Mangrove Swamps. They were first shown off in the 2019 Biome Vote, where they lost to the Goat, Powdered (Snowier) Snow, and a Mountain overhaul. But as we all know, they were eventually added into the game anyways in the 1.19 update, 3 years after it was announced.

While this may be quite a gap in time, there is no guarantee that other features will take this long to be implemented. But it IS a guarantee that past content WILL be added eventually.

So in short, we will be getting everything featured in any past, present, or future Mob Vote, it’ll just take time! So go on ahead and vote for whatever Mob/feature you like best! The winning Mob gets added First, with the other 2 coming later down the line

i have two thing to say

  1. they havent taken anything off that shelf since the frog
  2. china is gonna be voting, so boycotting wont do %&!#

the whole "theyve said theyll add the others eventually" argument doesnt work bc theyve said that for most of the previous votes, & they havent added jack shit

#

thats what i meant by "they havent taken anything off that shelf since the frog"

I did say it’ll take time

im perfectly content rn bc the losing mobs will be added by some mod down the road

Nobody said they wouldn’t

#

If anything, they explicitly said they would

tidal pendant
#

well they, by definition of the vote being a thing, already had all 3 mobs be approved to be added by everyone in the team

#

they're just not

#

when modders can add them within hours of them being annouced

I would like to note, that Mojang said they would add biomes that lost the biome votes in at later times. I have yet to actually find an official statement from Mojang or it’s employees saying that losing mobs will be added. The only thing I could find was a dev saying that the losers are added to an “ideas library” in case they may be added later on.

also, i believe they hold back info about the mobs to make it so that both

  • people dont fully know what they're voting for, to make more drama (yayyyy /s)
  • modders cant fully recreate everything about the mobs (they didnt say the crab claw can break blocks farther in the english annoucement, but it can according to chinese one)

Plus the dev’s tweet for reference

The goddam armadillo won

tidal pendant

  1. it's dog armor, and people love thems dogs
  2. it's it's mojang (and microsoft), ofc they didnt listen to their community's outcry
  3. china participated in the vote, so the boycott wouldn't have worked anyway
crude shard
#

Ya

#

But nobody is gonna fucking use it!

#

And when people are like “oooo a unique savanna mob” I argue that the stony shores for the penguin, “HAS NO MOBS AT ALL!”

#

The savanna has at least the default cow, pig, sheep. The stony shores has NOTHING

subtle urchin
#

Yeah, but I like armadillos

#

Who cares if nobody uses the armor, armadillos are the slightly less cool cousin to Pangolins

#

And I am content

crude shard
#

Content is content

#

Sometimes I wish it was better implemented though

tidal pendant
#

and also imma assume they're gonna reveal info about the mobs they didnt say anything about before the winner was revealed

#

ex: the crab claw gives you temporary creative flight after eating it

#

or smth stupid like that

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GETS IT

#

also

#

addition to be made

#

if mojang doesnt have to focus on addnig 2 more useless mobs, they can focus on adding new features to the updates

subtle urchin
#

I just wish they would bring old stuff back in a new vote

crude shard
#

It’s the perfect environment for them to find them in

unkempt forum

Like a room that shows you how to make them, and some aged statue versions locked in place

When I mention the room showing how to make them I mean like ruined nether portals show nether access, and desert temples show beacons
