(This post is to clarify some misconceptions surrounding the annual Mob vote, not necessarily about the mobs featured in the 2023 vote)
TLDR at bottom
It has come to my attention that many people across the internet are trying to “boycott” the current mob vote, as they don’t want to settle for just one of the 3 mobs (Crab, Armadillo, Penguin) and would rather have all of them.
I’d like to make it clear that the losing mobs and features from any Mob Vote will NOT be discarded, but rather be shelved to be implemented into the game later. People seemed misinformed about what will happen to the losing options, and seem to believe Mojang will discard them all, similar to the very first Mob Vote (the one where the Phantom won).
However, Mojang themselves have stated that all mobs and features shown in the vote will all be added into Minecraft eventually, but you, the players, get to choose which features get implemented first via the yearly vote. A great example of this are Frogs, Chestboats, and the Mangrove Swamps. They were first shown off in the 2019 Biome Vote, where they lost to the Goat, Powdered (Snowier) Snow, and a Mountain overhaul. But as we all know, they were eventually added into the game anyways in the 1.19 update, 3 years after it was announced.
While this may be quite a gap in time, there is no guarantee that other features will take this long to be implemented. But it IS a guarantee that past content WILL be added eventually.
So in short, we will be getting everything featured in any past, present, or future Mob Vote, it’ll just take time! So go on ahead and vote for whatever Mob/feature you like best! The winning Mob gets added First, with the other 2 coming later down the line
