Are a combination of Narrow, Standard, and Broad gauges, Trains of all types to go on one track. Could be made by throwing all three types in a mixer and getting 1 or 2 Universal Tracks.

Completely defeats the point of different gauges

vocal cave
#

Tell that to people who made this in Lithuania

tender perch
#

Hey people in lithuania, we likely won't be adding rails that work like yours

#

Seriously though. That just smells like a compat nightmare

vocal cave
#

The system isn't flexible enough I guess

tender perch
#

Sadly not

vocal cave
#

I know that you can place two rails really close side by side, due to their hitbox being a single block (at the moment of 0.5.1b, 1.19.2)

sonic lichen

like this

vocal cave
#

In fact, it's 1520mm and 1435mm tracks

vocal cave
#

Those look sorta stable enough, although some Z-fighting is present

#

Although yeah, kinda messy

half ridge
#

simple z fighting fixes then

fleet robin
#

aw why not

#

i see how this could be useful

#

also how hard could it possibly be

#

i mean we can drive trains on monorail tracks and vice versa

#

so shouldnt this be possible?

it already exist but you gotta make it yourself

#

lots of Z fighting tho

agile swift
#

theres still alot of space needed for the big one

agile swift
#

only the Z fighting...

plush gazelle
#

you could always make the models have little bits of height variation

#

so that they dont Z fight

half ridge
#

the z fightings a simple fix. just move the track position up or down by like 0.01

fleet robin
#

and doesnt work in the same way

#

we mean in the same block

#

have a dual gauge track

agile swift
#

Ik

fleet robin
#

it would save metal if you make them drive on the same track

agile swift
#

yeah

#

maybe to save metal on switches?

#

idk

sonic lichen
#

Yeah

#

"Gauntlet Tracks," as they're called, were used in regions being upgraded to 2-track, where two separate tracks couldn't be installed due to something that couldn't be easily moved/expanded.

#

So, to save materials and manpower on switches, gauntlet tracks were installed instead

slate aurora
#

So if I'm understand this correctly we're never getting tracks like these?

fleet robin
low bolt
#

I'm guessing the larger track is an insanely long s-bend

slate aurora
#

They're both going up a max length 1 block slope

#

I understand why they don't want to do double gauge with offset centers like the previous example, but why would they not do track like the example I showed?

low bolt
#

Would be great for stations that can handle more types of trains

crisp vine
#

phantom tracks is kinda this function wise as i remember
all sizes trains can run on it
so i can imagine the functions to this is there just not the model of the tracks for this

fleet robin
#

well i guess it takes time

#

but its something the community wants

fleet robin
#

it would be really cool having two gauges on the same track for stations and certain areas where two different gauges couldnt run together

#

say you have a mainline and a branchline with the mainline operating hourly and the branchline operating every 10 minutes. because the branchline is a windy mountain track, the branchline uses narrow gauge. the mainline uses standard gauge. on the mainline, theres 2 stations (that are of importance), and the branchline needs to go to both stations before branching off. using a dual gauge railway would be very efficient (and cool) in that scenario.

#

its cool af

I'm looking

#

And

#

Eh

sonic lichen
#

Maybe to make a double gauge track, you'd need to deploy both gauges as different tie types onto an incomplete sturdy sheet (after spouted lava), then press the whole thing twice

#

Meaning to automate it, you'd practically have to make two track factories and a sturdy sheet factory

slate aurora
#

The main, use I see for it is when you're using 2 gauges but you want to do a tunnel or bridge, it would permit them to share it instead of having to build two of them.

#

don't know if anyone would care but there is a thing in real life called a triple gauge which is pretty much what everyone is discussing already but this would be cleaner than overlaying all 3 types of tracks on top of each other

#

The only way we could do this is like squish the tracks onto each other

#

Since it'll still have to run on a graph

#

And that graph will be in the middle of the track

cyan obsidian
#

thunder when are we getting the SnR sex update

plush gazelle
#

Uh no

cyan obsidian
slate aurora
plush gazelle
#

No

#

That picture means there would have to be 3 different graphs

#

It'd have to be like this

#

Yellow being the graph and red being tracks

#

Or well half a track

slate aurora
#

Isn't that what's in my picture though?

cyan obsidian
#

yeah you had small inside standards i assume that is

#

you can already make standards go onto small rail (idk if it sbeen patched yet) and i also dont kow if its vice-versa
