Cannot Create/Init Amplify App

While following this tutorial:

 https://github.com/aws-samples/aws-end-to-end-iot-amplify-demo

I get the following error when running the amplify cli command:

 amplify init

error:

 🛑 We are unable to process your request. Please reach out to your support representative.

 Learn more at: https://docs.amplify.aws/cli/project/troubleshooting/

in the project I've created.

Also, in the AWS web console, when I go to the Amplify console it says:

 Creating your AWS Amplify app failed.
 We are unable to process your request. Please reach out to your support representative..  

 Contact AWS Support 

When I attempt to create a new Amplify Studio app

Seems liek you have a problem with your AWS Account.

Are you able to deploy other AWS resources?

I deployed a couple of ec2 instances just fine

Are you able to interact with other amplify projects?

how can I test this? never worked with amplify before, that's why I was running through a tutorial

Make another test app in amplify.

Make sure you have required IAM permissions.

Turns out I can't deploy EC2 instances either, and it gives a more informative error:

This account is currently blocked and not recognized as a valid account. Please contact https://support.console.aws.amazon.com/support/home?region=us-east-1#/case/create?issueType=customer-service&serviceCode=account-management&categoryCode=account-verification if you have questions.

Now I can resolve this.

Dont use the “default” account because thats connected to your EC2. Create a new one for Amplify (IAM)
