I recently discovered a mod called CompactHUD (https://modrinth.com/mod/compacthud1), which changes all bars to be numbers instead, I think it looks really cool, but the mod also adds some things that I don't want (mainly the smaller crosshair that seems to be cut off as there is no texture, plus the hotbar).
but with no config, I don't really have a way to disable them :/
I have zero skill with Spiffy, I'm mostly just curious if it's possible to remake this with the mod

Hi! Please first select which type of question you want to ask:

  • "Normal Question" is enough for most questions. If you are unsure, you should choose this mode. It provides quick and accurate answers to your questions and problems.
  • "Complex Task" is for very complex questions and multi-step tasks. For example, questions involving complex action script, requirement, or placeholder logic. Normal users will almost never need this. Getting answers takes much longer here.

It is not possible for anybody to send messages in this thread before selecting a mode.

Yeah, mostly yes 🙂👍

Spiffy should be able to recreate the idea of that HUD really well, especially the “compact numbers instead of big bars” part.

What Spiffy gives you that fits this style:

  • Single-Line Text for custom numeric readouts
  • Player Heart Health Bar, Food Icon Bar, Armor Icon Bar, Air Bubble Bar
  • Vanilla-Like Hotbar if you want to move/scale the hotbar instead of using CompactHUD’s version
  • Vanilla-Like Attack Indicator if you want that slot/cooldown style indicator
  • Eraser to hide HUD content underneath its bounds
  • On Forge/NeoForge, HUD Overlays Configurator can also help move/scale some mod HUD overlays

So the “compact numeric HUD” part is definitely doable with Spiffy. 💡

The parts I can’t promise from the docs alone are:

  • a dedicated crosshair replacement like CompactHUD uses
  • cleanly disabling/removing CompactHUD’s own hotbar/crosshair elements without extra help

That’s because Spiffy’s docs don’t list a dedicated crosshair element, and they also say that moving/deleting HUD elements from other mods is usually not possible. For Forge/NeoForge, the docs suggest trying HUD Overlays Configurator for some mod HUD elements.

So in short:

  • Yes: you can build a very similar compact HUD with Spiffy
  • Maybe / limited: the exact crosshair + fully removing CompactHUD’s own extras

If you want, I can help you sketch a super simple Spiffy setup for:

  • health
  • armor
  • hunger
  • air
  • XP
  • a compact hotbar

…and keep it beginner-friendly 🌷
