To find ready-to-use layout templates for FancyMenu, Drippy and Spiffy, please check out the #1234093433795383316 channel.
If you struggle to add templates to your game, check out this docs page and read the description of the template post.
I’m checking how FancyMenu templates are meant to be downloaded/imported so I can point you to the right steps 😊
Yep! If you mean a FancyMenu layout/template from someone else, the usual way is:
-
Download their file
Usually it’s shared as a.zip. -
Open your Minecraft instance folder
Use your launcher’s Open Folder / Open Instance Folder option. -
Go to
config -
Copy the template into
config/fancymenu
If you already have afancymenufolder there, back it up or delete it first so you don’t mix files. -
Make sure any assets are included too
If the template uses custom images or other files, those need to be insideconfig/fancymenu/assets/. -
Restart Minecraft
Then FancyMenu should load the imported template.
A couple of important notes:
- If it’s an old FancyMenu v2 template, it may also need extra asset files, not just the main config.
- If you mean a button template instead of a full layout, that works a bit differently.
If you want, I can also tell you the exact steps for:
- layout templates
- button templates
- importing from a ZIP file on CurseForge or Modrinth 📦
when i opened minecraft up after following those steps it brought me to the default home screen
I’m checking whether that sounds like the template didn’t actually load, or if it just loaded the default FancyMenu screen 🙂
Ahh, that usually means FancyMenu didn’t actually apply the layout to the title screen 😕🎮
The most common reasons are:
- Current Screen Customization is not enabled for the home screen
- the template is a universal layout but the title screen is blacklisted / not whitelisted
- the files were copied to the wrong folder
- the template needs extra files in
config/fancymenu/assets - another mod is replacing the main menu and FancyMenu can’t hook into it
What to check next:
- Open the Minecraft title screen
- Open FancyMenu
- Make sure Current Screen Customization is turned on
- Check that the template is really in:
config/fancymenu - Check that any custom images or other assets are in:
config/fancymenu/assets - If it’s a universal layout, check whether the title screen is excluded by a whitelist or blacklist
Also, if the thing you downloaded was only a button template, that won’t replace the whole home screen by itself. It only affects buttons in an existing layout.
If you want, send me:
- the name of the template
- a screenshot of your
config/fancymenufolder - or tell me whether it was a layout, universal layout, or button template
and I’ll help you figure out what’s missing 😊
how to open fancymenu
I’m checking the quickest way to open FancyMenu in-game so I can give you the exact keybinds 🙂
To open FancyMenu, press:
Ctrl + Alt + C
That toggles FancyMenu’s menu bar on and off. Once it’s visible, you can use it to open FancyMenu’s menus and settings.
A couple of handy ones too:
Ctrl + Alt + R= reload FancyMenuCtrl + Alt + D= toggle debug overlay
If you want, I can also show you how to open the layout editor or how to make the menu bar show up if it’s hidden 🙂
now that i have the layout installed and all. how do i actually make it show up to use. everytime it just sends me back to the default fancymenu menu
I’m checking the documented way to actually apply a FancyMenu layout, not just install it 🙂
Gotcha 🙂 What you want is not just the import part, but to make FancyMenu actually use that layout on the screen.
Try this:
- Go to the screen you want to change, like the Title Screen
- Press
Ctrl + Alt + Cto open FancyMenu’s menu bar - Open Customization
- Turn on Current Screen Customization
- Make sure the imported layout is the one for that screen and is enabled
A few important things:
- If the layout is for a different screen, it won’t show here
- If it’s a universal layout, check whether it’s blocked by a whitelist/blacklist
- If the layout has loading requirements, those can stop it from appearing too
So if it keeps sending you back to the default FancyMenu menu, it usually means one of these is happening:
- screen customization is still off
- the layout doesn’t match the current screen
- the layout is disabled
- something is blocking it
If you want, I can walk you through the exact clicks for the Title Screen step by step 👀
