Menu music not playing

A quick check first: if you want to replace the vanilla menu music, make sure “Play Vanilla Menu Music” is disabled in menu bar → Customization → Settings. Otherwise Minecraft’s own music can still be active alongside your Audio element.

Also, for custom music to keep playing across menus, use:

  • a universal layout
  • an Audio element with your tracks added
  • Current Screen Customization enabled for the screens you want it on

If it still doesn’t play, please check these:

  • Are the audio files in /config/fancymenu/assets/?
  • Are they valid OGG/WAV files?
  • Does it work with only FancyMenu installed?

For broken audio files, take a look here: Fix Audio Files

For menu music setup, see: Menu Background Music

audio files are in the right path, its an OGG file too

Gotcha 🙂 Then the most likely missing step is this:

  • In menu bar → Customization → Settings, disable Play Vanilla Menu Music
  • Make sure the Audio element actually has tracks added in its playlist
  • If you want it in every menu, use a universal layout and enable Current Screen Customization for the screens you want

Also check the Audio element’s volume itself, not just Minecraft’s master/music volume.

If it still doesn’t play, I need a bit more context:

  • Which Minecraft version and FancyMenu version are you on?
  • Does the Audio element show up but stay silent, or does it not appear at all?
  • If you can, send a screenshot of the Audio element settings and playlist

im on 1.20.1, it still doesnt work

# hidden dagger im on 1.20.1, it still doesnt work

1.20.1 is supported, so that part is fine.

Please check these two things first:

  • Is it working with only FancyMenu installed?
  • Is your FancyMenu and its dependencies up to date?

If it still doesn’t work, I can’t debug the audio issue directly from here. Please send:

  • your <minecraft_instance>/logs/latest.log file
  • and use the Request Human Help button so a human can inspect it

The docs page for setup is here:

do i need an audio controller?

Yes — if you want to disable the vanilla menu music per screen, you should use the Music Controller element. 🎵

  • Add a Music Controller to the layout
  • Right-click it and disable the vanilla music you want blocked
    • Menu Music
    • World Music

If you want to disable vanilla menu music globally, you can also do it in:

  • menu bar → Customization → Settings → Play Vanilla Menu Music = off
