It sounds like the layout either wasn’t saved as a “For Current Screen” layout or the screen still has its customization disabled. Please double-check the steps from the Getting Started guide:

  1. Open the Join Multiplayer screen, press Ctrl+Alt+C, go to Customization → Current Screen Customization, and make sure it says Enabled (see the “Your First Layout” section in the Getting Started page).
  2. Use Layouts → New → For Current Screen to create/edit the layout, right‑click the editor background, choose Set Background, pick your image/video, and confirm. (See the Menu Backgrounds doc for the exact background workflow.)
  3. Save the layout (Ctrl+S or Layout → Save) and leave the editor. The new background should now appear the next time the screen is opened.

If you’ve followed those steps and it’s still showing vanilla, please let me know what version of FancyMenu you’re on, whether you used a universal layout or screen‑specific one, and whether any other layouts are stacked on this screen.

Thanks for the extra info! Since the Join Multiplayer screen still shows the vanilla background, let’s double-check a few things:

  1. Customization is enabled for that screen – open Join Multiplayer, press Ctrl+Alt+C, go to Customization → Current Screen Customization, and make sure it says “Enabled” (the Getting Started guide shows the exact steps: Getting Started).

  2. You’re editing a layout “for the current screen” – while still on Join Multiplayer, open Layouts → New → For Current Screen (or edit the already saved layout), then set the background via right-click background → Set Background (see the background instructions at Menu Backgrounds). Save (Ctrl+S) and exit the editor.

  3. Verify no other layout is overriding it – if multiple layouts are active, the one with a higher layout index may be stacking on top. You can right-click the background and adjust the layout index or disable unwanted layouts.

If you’ve confirmed all that and it still shows vanilla, could you let me know:

  • The exact FancyMenu version you’re using,
  • Whether the layout shows under “Layouts → Manage” as enabled and for the Join Multiplayer screen,
  • Whether the layout’s index is higher than other layouts affecting the same screen?

That’ll help me pinpoint why the layout isn’t applying 🙌

If the Join Multiplayer screen still shows vanilla, the layout you edited is either not being applied to that screen or it’s being hidden by another layout. Please double-check the scenario from the Getting Started page: make sure customizations are enabled for Join Multiplayer, then open Layouts → New → For Current Screen (not universal) and set your background there via right-click background → Set Background (see the Menu Backgrounds page). Save (Ctrl+S) and exit to see the changes.

If that’s all done and it still shows vanilla, can you confirm:

  • The layout listed under Layouts → Manage is marked as “Enabled” for the Join Multiplayer screen?
  • No other layout with a higher layout index is stacking on top of it?
  • The layout isn’t accidentally global/universal (which would require extra whitelist/blacklist rules)?

Let me know those details so I can help you spot why the customization isn’t taking effect 😊

Thanks for checking all of that! Since the layout is enabled, not universal, and there are no whitelist/blacklist rules, here are a couple more checks that might explain why you still see vanilla:

  1. Background saved correctly?
Open the layout again (the “For Current Screen” one for Join Multiplayer) and double-check that the background is still set. Sometimes the background value resets if the file isn’t saved after editing—so press Ctrl+S or use Layout → Save, then exit the editor and reopen the screen to see if it’s applied.

  2. Layout index order
If there are other layouts enabled for Join Multiplayer (even if invisible), the one with the higher Layout Index wins for the background. Right-click the editor background → Layout Index and ensure your layout has the highest priority (lowest number). The menus in Getting Started mention how layouts stack.

  3. Customizations must stay enabled
Join Multiplayer requires customizations to stay enabled each time. After enabling them, save the layout while still on the screen, then exit. When you reopen Join Multiplayer, confirm Customization → Current Screen Customization still says “Enabled”.

If you’ve confirmed all that and it still shows vanilla, could you tell me:

  • What happens if you disable the background in the layout and re-add it?
  • Does the background appear briefly (e.g., during reload) and then vanish?
  • Which FancyMenu version are you on?

Those details help narrow it down even further 😊
