Videos via MCEF can be heavy, so try these tweaks:

  • Use lower-resolution MP4s (1080p or less) and keep duration short—MCEF is not a video player, it just renders textures, so smaller files help performance.
  • Pre-load the video via Customization → Pre-Load Resources so Minecraft caches it before the screen opens (see the pre-load guide).
  • Avoid running videos on loading screens—they’re forced to reload and stutter; use an FMA animation there instead.
  • Check your MCEF build: make sure it matches your Minecraft version (for 1.21.5+ use the Keksuccino fork) and that the mod is working correctly.
  • If you’re playing with other heavy background elements (panoramas, multiple videos/audio), simplify the layout so fewer resources compete for GPU.

For more details and requirements, see the Videos (MP4) page.

Here’s how to pre-load resources so they’re ready before the video plays:

  1. Open the menu bar → Customization → Pre-Load Resources.
  2. Add your video file (MP4) from the local assets folder or a web link.
  3. Save and let FancyMenu reload; the selected resource will now be cached every time Minecraft reloads (e.g., at startup or when you press Ctrl+Alt+R).

This keeps the video from stuttering when the screen opens. You can include other heavy assets there too (images, panoramas, slideshows).
More info: Pre-Load Resources.
