You can do this by making two layouts (one for your “day” background and one for your “night” background) and using the Is Real Time Hour requirement to gate each layout.

  1. Open the layout editor for your screen and set the day background/overlays you want.
  2. Right-click the editor background → Layout Settings → Layout-Wide Loading Requirements.
  3. Add the Is Real Time Hour requirement (see the Conditions/Requirements list).
  4. Configure the value to match daytime hours (for example: 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16,17).
  5. Save the layout as something like main_menu_day.
  6. Repeat the process for a second layout, this time configuring the requirement for night hours (18,19,20,21,22,23,0,1,2,3,4,5) and using your night background.

When the menu loads, FancyMenu will check the real-world hour and only enable the layout whose requirement matches the current time, so the correct background will show automatically 😊

You’re almost there! Setting the Is Real Time Hour requirement on each layout the way you did is exactly how this should work. Just make sure you have:

  • One layout with your day background and the requirement value set to the daytime hours (e.g., 6,7,…,17).
  • A second layout with the night background and the requirement value set to the night hours (18,19,…,23,0,1,…,5).
  • Both layouts enabled so FancyMenu can pick between them when the screen opens.

If you haven’t already, double-check the layout-wide requirements for each layout (right-click background → Layout Settings → Layout-wide Requirements) and confirm the values match the hours you want. The real-time hour requirement accepts comma-separated values (no backticks needed), and FancyMenu will only load the layout whose requirement matches the current hour.

Yep, the setup looks correct—each layout gets its own Layout-wide loading requirement based on Is Real Time Hour, just like the Conditions documentation describes.

To test that the right background shows up:

  1. In each layout’s Layout Settings → Layout-wide Requirements, temporarily edit the hour list so only the current hour is listed for one of the layouts (for example, set the day layout to 17 if it’s 5 PM right now). The layout whose requirement matches the actual real-world hour will be the only one that loads.
  2. Save and close the editor—open the menu to make sure the expected background appears.
  3. Repeat for the other layout (or wait until the actual hour rolls over) to confirm the second background shows up when its requirement matches.

Once you’re satisfied, restore the full hour ranges (617 for day, 185 for night). That should make the backgrounds switch automatically based on the real-world time 😊

However, if you ever plan to stack other layouts (like extra overlays) it’s helpful to keep the background layouts’ index predictable. The shorter answer: no, not required, but setting a layout index via right-click background → Layout Index keeps stacking order clear if you ever add more backgrounds or overlays later.
