He was by far the most popular, so his queues were always massive, he was the last one to sign and wrote "You saved the best for last!" because that is 100% what Astarion would say FingerGuns

I got everyone else on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday goals were very simple: 1) Critical Role panel, 2) get a couple of photo ops with a massive gay d20 I bought at the convention and some of the LGBTQ+ cast members ~~because I wanted them to bless it~~ 3) queue among the Astarion fangirls for hours to get Neil's autograph

So I'm playing Durge in Tactician mode at the moment and I'm having to be a bit more strategic in my battles. One of these battles resulted in my party with pretty low health and SH lying at Astarion's feet, dying. She was one roll away from possible death but Astarion also had pretty low health so instead of helping her, I told him to bite her

I went home for lunch and because there was no traffic I was able to power up BG3 and see my Chaos Durge file's Tiefling party aftermath, specifically ||what happens if Arabella dies thanks to Kagha's snake||.

I'm tempted to redo the Tiefling party just so that I can see if the scene changes at all if you reveal Kagha to be in league with the Shadow Druids after ||Arabella dies||.
Like ||does she still beg for mercy from Arabella's parents, or does she accept how badly she fucked up and let Arabella's mom stab her to death? Does she still cruelly taunt them for what happened, or is she genuinely sorry and remorseful when they confront her?||

I meta-gamed and preemptively ||knocked out Alfira|| as Durge to avoid a certain event. I feel like it was harder than the first time I did it 😅 . I had to ||cast darkness around her and then wail on her in turned based mode until she collapsed and then run out of the cloud and act all innocent because suddenly a bunch of other tieflings showed up all "what's all this then?"||

I think Wyll's an interesting direction, but given how he is about romance and how Karlach is by comparison I don't think they're a romantic match. Maybe Astarion? Or Gale? ||On my Shadowheart romance file my Tav (Helena) is a Druid, so I'm imagining if they adopted children and their children wanted to undergo the Selunite rite Shadowheart would be flustered and anxious about it, but then after talking with Helena for a bit she'd remember that their kids would be better equipped for the rite than others because one mom knows how Selune & Shar's disciples operate and passes that knowledge on to their kids, and their other mom taught & raised them to respect nature and how to navigate the woods safely||

||Tbf, I imagine the rite is a bit more complex than it seems. I feel like the parents (or maybe even clerics or priests of Selûne in some cases) are hanging out of sight in case something really wrong happens. After all, the rite seems to be about trusting the light of the moon maiden to guide you home, not trusting it to keep you from getting mauled by a bear. But that's just my take on it, probably missed the point tbh.||

But like, the game allowed me to establish that she was born in Menzoberranzan, so she's also spent time in the Underdark.
Would certainly be interesting to make an attempt at figuring out what her past is, and how she can be 1) Bhaalspawn 2) Underdark-born Drow and 3) Selûnite, because like, she must be at least a good century and a half old, as a Drow.||

||I thought that when the camera panned in front of the wolf in the true flashback with Dame Aylin, it was implying that Sharrans had rewritten her own father as a wolf in her memories, but apparently they didn't need to change her memory like that because her father was a full on werewolf and was in wolf form trying to rescue his daughter when the Sharrans showed up, so Viconia didn't even need to change the memory very much, only erase dad and change the narrative of the memory||

||If they live then they will all suffer from pain forever from what I gathered, but a nice argument for still doing that is that at least they are back together, and they can face it together. Also the pain doesn't seem to be constant. When she goes to the statue of Selûne, she does also start crying, and feels alone, but then her parents arrive and they have this massive group hug crey crey ||

I have an idea about how Helena will face the issue.
In our multiplayer campaign, Helena & Rhys are siblings who lost everything (we wrote that they and some other kids snuck out at night to catch some fireflies and other bugs in the surrounding forest, which they frequently did, and one night invaders struck and destroyed everything, so they've been orphans and vagabonds since they were like 11 & 6 respectively). We both modeled our Guardians to look like our dead parents ||(so you can imagine how little they like the Emperor when it's revealed he probed their memories and found the two most important people in their lives and assumed their forms to manipulate them)||, and I have a strong feeling that Helena would encourage Shadowheart to ||hang on to them for as long as she can.||

There's this amulet that I always get for Shart, and since you steal it from a holy place in Act 3, there's a consequence for taking it. Basically ||you go into the Stormshore Tabernacle basement and steal the Amulet of the Devout. When you steal it, you get Cursed. If you try to use Remove Curse, you are instantly accosted by a Deva. You can either use Command to force the Deva to drop its weapon, or kill it, go to camp, and come back and loot its corpse for the Deva Mace.||

The Deva Mace does regular Mace damage, plus an extra whopping 4d8 Radiant Damage per hit

When she saw my name, Jen asked where I was from, then she told me a French phrase she loves saying "je suis crevée", it's an expression that means "I am exhausted", but there is no real English equivalent that truly conveys the feeling implied by the expression (literally it means "I am punctured", like a flat tyre)
they found the quote I suggested for the Shadowheart print hilarious, I am still proud of it 😄
Aliona stamped two excellent lil squirrels on the prints, no notes, 100/100, Corinna is the main character after all

absolute delight, insisted on having the post-its with our names visible so that she could address us by our names (tbf basically all of them made sure to address me by my name!)

talked about Scotland (Tracy is Scottish), and how it influenced my accent a little bit (I studied there)
chatted a little bit about how darn cool Jaheira is when she spikes our wine
apparently one of people's favourite Jaheira quotes is just her saying "hello" when she responds to Tav saying "I wish people just said hello"
talked about prioritising the three actors that were only there on Friday, apparently they'd have been happy to come for more days, but were only invited for the Friday!

Samantha Béart

I was fully relaxed for basically everyone except them. Karlach is my absolute favourite and I adore Sam's performance so a sprinkling of nerves is probably allowed, as a treat. Does mean that I forgot to mention stuff I was hoping to talk about, oh well!
I somehow ended up first in line, was pretty cool!
they got massively delayed, so I got to just chill and watch Jen and Aliona interacting with other fans and talking about gay books and TV shows while I waited. May or may not have picked up a second gaycorn too 😇. I also interacted a bit with Amelia Tyler who was signing at the same table.
asked why her last name is French, apparently their real last name is already taken by another artist, so she had to go back up her family history to find a name. Their family were originally in France and moved to Ireland a very long time ago. Funnily enough my family did the exact opposite (came to France from Ireland), Sam joked that we're basically all cousins.
said Karlach is my absolute favourite, we talked about how fuckin amazing the ||post-killing Gortash|| scene is, how good the writing of it is and how much Sam was looking forward to doing it
Karlach is not on the BG3 poster print, but Mizora is, and we don't like Mizora, so I asked Sam to add a little funny face on her, she drew goggles and a moustache. 100% something Karlach would do.
Karlach is named after her mother Caerlack, both names are pronounced the same, Sam assumes her mother's name just had an older, archaic spelling.

told her I watch her streams while working out but they are so darn funny and chaotic I sometimes have to mute them because I am laughing too much and can't complete my sets, and I thanked her for it, she was amused
I mentioned I was planning a chaos playthrough, but will never be able to attain her level of chaos
was I the only person who didn't mention Bing Bong to the poor woman? Maybe I was...
when I couldn't think of a quote (this happened a lot), she asked me if I thought Lae'zel could consider me an Istik or a Kith'rak. As much as I wish it was the latter, let's be honest, Lae'zel thinks I am a weak istik for sure.

Theo Solomon

told him how much I love Wyll, because he's such a good person and I wish everyone was like Wyll
also mentioned that I really love his performance, the way he moves, and his enunciation when playing Wyll, very theatrical (I really love just watching Wyll talk), he looked really glad to hear it!
asked him to complete the defacing of Mizora, since she is the bane of Wyll's existence, he was very amused, and added the horns before signing

Amelia Tyler

talked about how tired we both were, but she insisted I had it worse since she got to sit all day while I had to move a lot, fair point!
mentioned I am doing my Dark Urge playthrough, but that she was fighting her urge and ||succeeded in curing it||, can't remember if I said it out loud, but definitely tried to convey that I love the dark urge narration
she talked about her Violet Dark Urge playthrough, and how she's afraid of the dice when making decisions
I produced the Giant Gay Die and mentioned maybe she should roll that one, she picked it up and held it, and I am considering this her official Blessing of the Giant Gay Die
I also mentioned that the dice she's rolling terrify me, how horrifying what happened to ||Gale's hand|| was and that I will not be able to handle it if anything happens to Karlach because of them!

Tim Downie

poor man, it was past 6pm and I was fully crashing, I literally said to him "I usually try to come up with something witty and memorable to tell the artist, but my brain has literally stopped working", he could relate
he also had pretty long queues and was second to last, I talked about my plan to get everybody's signature on the poster print, and that I was leaving the toughest people for last, we both fearfully glanced at Neil's endless queue

Photo Ops

those go really fast, so the interactions are very short!
so I bought the Giant Gay Die on Saturday, and really wanted to get it blessed by some LGBTQ+ cast members, so got last minute Sunday photo ops with Sam Béart and Jennifer English
Sam's op was 10 minutes after the end of the Critical Role panel, and literally happening on the other side of thr ExCel building. I have never power walked through a crowd of thousands of people so fast
made it just in time! They remembered me from the previous day "I know you!" "YOU DO?" (I default to assuming artists won't remember me, because why would they? they meet thousands of people, and continue to be surprised when some of my favourite opera singers still remember my face after several years)
Took an excellent back to back photo with the Big Gay Die, told them to "feel free to flex, you've got a good bicep"
Jen's photo op was the last thing I did (even after Neil's autograph), she also remembered me!
I produced the Giant Gay Die and mentioned it kinda looked like the Astral Prism (the Gaystral prism, if you will), she suggested we both hold it for the photo (excellent suggestion, and exactly what I had in mind!)

Neil Newborn

he was the last one, and toughest one to get, the golden goostarion, if you will
poor man had the longest queues and spent hours and hours signing, chatting, but always kept a smile on and was incredibly nice to everyone
I thought it was a lost cause a few times, since they closed his queue, but I just chilled nearby (saw Ashley Johnson walking by to go to a photo op!) until they unexpectedly re-opened the queue!
decided to make it quick and efficient for his benefit, thought of a quote for him to write in advance (for once!)
it's not an Astarion quote, but it's what he would say "You left the best for last, darling!"

||I'm kinda torn, because on one hand I love the fact that Minthara is a character you can just never know is a companion, a named baddie who's name you forget sometime in the middle of act 2 (like she mentions), and if you want to experience this character you've got to commit. On the other, I feel like they weighed the scale a bit too heavily, so it barely feels like a choice most of the time.||

||Do I want to give Karlach her upgrades, recruit Halsin, have a bunch of fun and emotional moments with the tieflings, and get some rad armor from Dammon in act 3 or do I want Minthara? I feel like most runs are going to go with option 1, it's just so much :/ ||

I don't think Minthara got enough Early Access feedback that might have changed Larian's direction with her. Most people only wanted to sleep with Minthara in Early Access because TEEHEE EVIL RUN HOTTIE!! but because we didn't progress past Act 1 none of her non-controlled personality was showcased, so Larian made her Genocidal Actions Only! when full release came out, which is a shame

It's when you first meet him. If you ||pull him out of the hole and talk to him shortly after he'll either confirm you're not versed in magic (i.e. not a wizard) or geek out with you for a bit about wizard stuff||

As far as my Warlock playthrough is concerned, ||I do not believe using tadpoles locks you in as a mindflayer. If it did, than many companions who also take the tadpole upgrades would be in the same boat and you'd have multiple mindflayer companions.||

||In the end, my DUrge couldn't let Orpheus turn himself into a mindflayer. He was needed, while Veris (my DUrge) was just a newly unbhaaled bhaalspawn, with few ties to the world. His friends would go about their lives, their duties, and he would have to exist in a world he had carved a great gash into in his past, and, likely, without the woman who'd kept him on the ground when his father tried to pull him off the edge. He ultimately decided if anyone should make such a sacrifice, it should be the one with the least to lose...himself. (No shade or judgement if anyone let Orpheus or Karlach turn btw. This is just how I envision my character thinking about it, and I felt like I'd share. for some reason?)||

Managed to complete the ||Steelwatch foundry and only lost one Gondian this time! Stupid dumdum decided to cast thunderwave on Minthara? Sure she doesn't particularly look like she's the nicest person ever, but she was literally completely demolishing Banites and steel watchers right in front of you my man (he got killed by the steel watcher). Truly she was an absolute menace in that fight: hasted + elixir of bloodlust + great weapon master + being a fuckin paladin = approx 50 damage per attack, and she had up to 7 attacks per round akiaArson .||
||I read that Patch 4 made the gondians a bit smarter, and I think it kinda did, but one of them still misty stepped into the blast radius of a steel watcher, thankfully, with a well placed Gust, Dav was able to get them out 🙌 ||

||Also after the pain of fighting Ansur, a sweet sweet double call lighning on the Steel watch big boss from Dav was so beautiful 🥹 took out 2/3rds of its health in a single turn||

I was looking into re-tooling my paladin as a dark urge run (cause the story is that good), but I couldn't think of a way to justify it plot wise...||come to find out that it's kind of already worked into the plot. If you break the oath as the dark urge (after finding out you're a Bhaalspawn) you can ask the OBK if you've met before (Basically just asking if you've broken your oath) and he confirms that you have broken your oath on multiple occasions, but you just keep coming back to it. Which is a story i like. Im imagining someone who wanted desperately to fight the urges, became a paladin and tried and tried to keep the oath but couldnt manage it, so they eventually just gave in and became the Dark Urge. But, now that all their past failures are wiped from their mind, they're starting the path anew.||

I have a new character idea

#

A frog who was polymorphed into a humanoid (likely a Githyanki) by an "evil" (well meaning, ignorant to the consequences) wizard and desperately yearns to become one with the mud once again, but she's got an intelligence of, like, 2, so she makes all kinds of bad deals and trades in an attempt to be a frog once more. Such terrible choices include:

Allowing the the hag to take her eye (not Volo), letting another "evil" wizard (Gale) die and then taking his body to some random place in Act 1 where it will blow up and possibly end the run if I don't make it to Act 2 in time, making a deal with Raphael, etc.

I was thinking either a Ranger or a Fighter/Barbarian. She wants to be a Druid because they can Wildshape, and in her little brain that means she gets to be in the mud once more, but she A) hates magic, B) is terrible at it. I think Ranger would be interesting because she's got survival instincts, can call upon other creatures for aid, etc. but Fighter & Barbarian are kind of funny too because when I think of angry frogs all I can think of is screaming frogs, so screaming and leaping into battle just makes sense to me

Thought popped into my empty head: half evil run. Basically a durge who's completely down with the urge until around act 2. By then, they fully realize how little control they actually have over the urge, and seeing Minthara in such a bad way despite her devotion kinda trips a few memories ||specifically of Orins betrayal. They dont know everything, but the situation feels more familiar than theyd like.|| which kinda makes him realize there aren't really many ways for this to end positively ||while theyre under the sway of Bhaal (especially since his end goal is the death of all things)|| In the end they're still going to be a self-centered asshat, but they're more capable of good than they were at the start and might be on their way to some actual heroics.
Probably not much sense there, but yeah, that's my brain in a nutshell

Ok so I can tell you how I had them both built in my Dav playthrough.
Shadowheart: buff/control cleric, got respecced into Life Cleric, maxed out her wisdom and gave her the resilient (constitution) feat, war caster works too.
Blood of Lathander + always at least one piece of (heavy) armour/shield that prevent crits on her and she had an AC of like 22.
She was mostly here to heal and control the battlefield, always packing buffs (Aid, freedom of movement, death ward, heroes' feast, sanctuary) and crowd control/disabling spells (command my beloved, hold person, glyph of warding, insect plague, daylight, planar binding). The few pure damage spells she used were spirit guardians (my beloved) guardian of faith, sunbeam (from blood of lathander) and the occasional sacred flame. Almost never used weapon attacks.

Dav: fuck shit up, deal a fuckton of damage tempest cleric 6/ storm sorcerer 5/wizard 1
Perks from tempest cleric 6: channel divinity for max lightning/thunder damage twice per short rest, healing, heavy armour + shield proficiency, high Wis, lightning/thunder damage pushes enemies back, best spells: command, hold person, create water, thunderwave, shatter, call lightning, spirit guardians
Perks from storm sorcerer 5: free flight as a bonus action, sorcery points (quickened spell my beloved), high Cha, best spells: shield, counterspell my most beloved, chromatic orb, magic missile
Perks from Wizard 1: can write spells higher than lvl 3 into my spellbook akiaArson , feather fall is a ritual spell, you cast it? Free flying from storm sorcery without consuming a spell slot! High Int (from headband of intellect)
Best spells from it: chain lightning (cast it twice in the ||Cazador|| fight via quickened spell, dealt about 850 damage), haste, knock, honestly all spells from scrolls!
Final stats: Str 8, Dex 10, Con 23(amulet)/14, Int 17(headband)/8, Wis 20, Cha 18
Her equipment included the super awesome staff with Kereska's favour (always on lightning settings), a shield and a cloak that each boost spellsave DC to make up for the non-maxed Int and Cha.

What I do is I give her the Armor of Persistence, Boots of Persistence, and the Reviving Hands. Then for a helmet I usually give her the Holy Lance Helm or Grymskull Helm, and for accessories she gets teh Amulet of the Devout, The Whispering Promise, and the Ring of Salving. Then I give her the Deva Mace (because holy shit that thing is more powerful than some of the legendary weapons!) a spoilery shield ||Viconia's Walking Fortress|| and just so that she has some kind of weapon attack that's long range in case she needs to reserve her spell slots I give her a Hand or Light Crossbow

I also usually give her Str 14, Dex 8, Con 14 (becomes 16), Int 12, Wis 17 (becomes 20) and Cha 10, then for AS+ I go Sentinel Feat, Resilient Feat (Constitution), Wis +1 & Con +1, then I use the ||Mirror of Loss|| to get Shart to Wis 20. I was doing Shart to Wis 22, but I realized she didn't really gain as much as I would have liked from it, and since most of her utility in battle doesn't require a Saving Throw from an enemy (since she's normally on heal/buff/controller duty), instead I wanted to keep her survivability up and increase her HP, so I swapped out Wis +2 for Resilient to allow her to keep concentration on spells for her allies.

Oh yeah and for cloaks I give her the Vivacious Cloak because it's really the only thing that really synergizes with a Controler Cleric. You could slap the Cloak of Protection on her if you like, or give her the Crusader's Mantle. I go wtih Vivacious because I get more use out of it, and Shart likes free HP

For Act 1 i give Shart the Adamantine Splint Armor (heavy armor) and the Adamantine Shield, which she wears all the way until Act 3

I have her do upcast Spirit Guardians. It hits them once, and if that doesn't kill her double instantly, once it's her double's turn she automatically gets hit a second time and she gets immediately done in thanks to the Radiant weakness

For Halsin I have him cast Moonbeam, and normally Moonbeam doesn't do much damage, but with their weakness to Radiant damage I just make him cast it at it's lowest level and it's the same deal as Spirit Guardians on Shadowheart: if it doesn't kill them on the initial casting, by the double's next turn they're out
