Had PCs ||getting people out|| while our 4 summons (my trusty boar companion, a Cambion and an Imp from Wyll, and a Djinn from Shadowheart) ||battled with the fishies||. ||Dimension Door came in super clutch||!

Imma just spoiler the whole strategy:
||So the most clutch things were

1. Astarion with his double dash + a potion of invisibility so the fishies don't pile on him, going towards Omeluum and freeing the two other people there on the way.
2. Tav, hasted via scroll going down the corridor with only 2 fishies but 6 prisoners, she used arrows dipped in drow poison (makes enemies sleep) to disable them, fully solo'd that room.
3. Wyll down the corridor towards his dad, staying in the corridor to cast well-placed Arcane Gates
4. Two planar allies (Cambion + Djinni) supporting Astarion and the prisoners by tanking the billions of fishies that pop up there and using up their opportunity attacks.

Extra stuff that happened:
5. Shadowheart freed the two people in the first room, then used the arcane gates to free the Duke and the other people there
6. My boar companion + Wyll's imp familiar supported Wyll down his corridor, tanking the fishies there.
Some extra notes:

• Everyone had one scroll or item that gave them dimension door just in case, but nobody needed to use them in the end.
• As I mentioned before, the prisoners are not dumdums and made use of the arcane gate.
• I cannot stress enough how good hasted Tav was, freed all prisoners in two rounds, giving them plenty of time to run away, with two actions she was easily able to both run around and attack enemies. ||

Of all the characters in BG3, the one person I follow on tumblr who is playing the game has decided to become obsessed with Astarion. And I mean sure, he is an excellent lil gremlin, but I wish I got bombarded with gifs of Shadowheart and Karlach instead 😅

I think my obsession with exploring everything may have negatively affected my Act 3 experience. The amount of times I have accidentally stumbled upon the later stage of an important questline just because that lil hatch over there looked intriguing or something similar. For example I found ||red dwarf murder man|| super quickly, then got lots of retroactive quest entries for the ||'Investigate the murders'|| questline even though I'd already ||stopped him||. Also from what I've read you're supposed to meet ||Raphael|| in Act 3 as part of ||Gale's|| companion questline? Haven't seen ||him|| at all and have reached the final entry in this questline. Gale actually got mad at me for apparently ||agreeing to a deal with Raphael??|| I never ||saw the man||!

Here's the thing. ||Lae'zel mentions that Voss is a traitor, she needs to end the hive brain and continue to serve her Lich Queen and that the evil Prince will be slain. None of this information is known in Act 1, yet here it is. ||

And when you're done with that conversation, ||she immediately goes back to Act 1 conversations about finding a Crech. ||

Including her promise to kill ||Voss with his own silver sword (Which she now has!)||

Yeah. Every enemy in ||the goblin camp seemed to automatically aggro soon as I recruited the druid man. And somehow, I don't even recall beating the priestess, though I apparently did.||

Also had a bit of a chuckle ||convincing the spiders to go snack on goblins. Fortunately, I'm playing a druid, so that part was easy 🐻‍❄️ ||

||That hobgoblin was rough to take down though. ||

Eventually, I'll go back and ||fight that orc or whatever that was guarding that one room I got the key to since that's where you apparently enter the underdark or whatever for the song whatchamacallit||

Also, I found Karlach!

I've been seeing glimpses of interactions with ||Minthara|| in later acts and damn, I'm gonna echo things already said here but I really wish we didn't ||have to be such horrible murderers|| to get ||her||. From Larian's update today they seem to have taken onboard some feedback about ||Karlach's epilogue - which I still don't fully know about because spoilers||, so I am hoping that one day they'll make it a teensy bit easier, like ||maybe if you go through the trouble of not killing her at the goblin camp - just knock her out, you can still meet her later||. I've seen people say that if ||you don't interact with her at all at the camp, and leave the grove situation mostly unresolved apart from getting Kagha to stop being an evil druid, then both the Tieflings and Minthara might survive? Needs verification though - and might have not been intended by the devs so might have disappeared with Patch 1. One thing for sure is that it's either Halsin or her.||

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks ||Minthara|| deserves to be around for the long haul. ||There is so much more to her than being an evil servant of the absolute. She actually sees admirable features in a ton of characters you wouldn't expect. And shocker of all shockers, she even has a sense of humor. ||

I think next playthrough I will test this ||neutral approach to the grove situation|| theory, see if it is feasible. Thankfully looks like you don't need the ||camp party|| to begin romancing people from what I've seen ||(had the cute wine date with Shadowheart long before the camp party in my current playthrough)||

Mature Topic! ||The loss of the camp party will be missed because it's pretty much the only way you can get Minthara's love scene in the game. It's definitely one of the better ones in the game as evidenced at how much the team storyboarded it. They even made sure to create alternate positions to acomodate the PC's gender.|| clears throat Thank you Peebee for that lovely memory.

Also, Larian confirmed that they used over 200+ actors in both voices and motion capture for Baldur's Gate 3. 200 really talented actors. Where the devil is Alix?

And you know who I'm talking about Kronk. If you want in that badly, I'll take it upon myself to made you into the game complete with voice work! 🙂

Well from a broad D&D perspective, given I am addicted to creating characters in DnD Beyond, I have 100% thought about what I personally would be in that world. The answer is Wizard, probably divination. I work as a researcher and have a PhD, so of course I'd be studying magic in that world

(Wyll's Act 3 quest spoilers) Holy FUCK ||Ansur||! What a ||meanie||, casting ||Globe of Invulnerability|| on ||Gale|| is the best idea I have ever had. Ever. Everyone was ||close to death|| and ||he|| was chilling in his ||lil bubble, taking zero damage||. And I was even like ||"Should I cast it? he's behind cover... I'm sure he'll be fine" for a bit before deciding to actually cast it - literally seconds before buzzy dragon boi's super devastating AoE attack||. Also ||that Baldurian reveal || 🤯

Oh I highly recommend that lil quest, it's a ||mini dungeon crawl|| with ||puzzles||, I found it all very enjoyable. Solved all ||puzzles|| without looking anything up which made me happy!

Huh odd, I believe it was specifically Act 3 and Baldur's Gate that they were targetting in the fix. I certainly experience lagging after a few hours of gameplay (have to reload the game every 4 or so hours to make them go away). Will investigate if I'm getting improvements when I load up the game!

I built both Karlach and my Tav the same way, Barbarian 10/Fighter 2. Bear hear, bear and eagle aspect

I'm wearing Horns of the berserker, cloak of protection, enraging heart garb, gloves of dexterity and bonespike boots

Accessories are surgeons subjugation amulet, ring of regeneration and killers sweetheart

My weapon is Nylruna

with this build my attributes are 20/18/20/8/12/10, which means I have 21 AC, and when I rage I am resistant to all damage except psychic.

My role is running in, tanking and whacking everything in sight

Then Thief/Fighter Astarion can sneak in from behind and sneak attack for big dmg, Tempest cleric Shadowhart buffs, CCs and keeps everyone alive and then I have a flex slot depending on what I think the fight will need or if its someone's personal quest

• As you know, I am Beastmaster Ranger, do an absolute fuckton of damage with Sharpshooter feat, and all my pets are the best bois, absolutely amazing in combat, very good tanking, control and damage abilities, I've been causing chaos through the ||House of Hope|| with TWO whole ass bears! - only downside of the beast buddies is that all except the Raven cause everyone to freak out every time I go to a crowded place 😅
• Shadowheart joined my party in the very beginning and has literally never left, I kept her as Trickery domain, and she's very good at controlling, but I do believe this Domain is more effective in IRL D&D, since Polymorph, Invoke Duplicity and Disguise Self are limited in the game, she got the War Caster feat and basically never loses concentration on anything.
• Karlach is there 99% of the time, Berserker Barbarian, hits like a TRUCK with the two items we just picked up (add to that a certain sword all her attacks have +18 to damage when raging, which would mean minimum 60 dmg if using all 3 attacks during Frenzied Rage! She also has the Sentinel feat for juicy extra attacks.
• The last spot is more floating, Wyll took pact of the chain, has some very useful spells (namely summoning ones, and Counterspell my beloved) and his lil familiars are also super helpful! Rather than ASIs I mosly levelled up his Charisma through feats so he has insane bonuses - if only I could switch dialogue to him when I need to roll a check 😑

Jolene got them instead for when she ran out of Spell slots. Since she has the legendary trident ||from tricking the Djinni in the circus|| all regular attacks with it also dealt Thunder dmg, which helped a lot.

I made Astarion a Gloomstalker Assassin, of course, and I tried the variant where I sacrifice 2 levels of Assassin for Fighter to get Action Surge, but honestly it wasn't worth it. Too many rests and short rests, and with Tactician mode needing 80 points instead of 40 per long rest its just not worth the sacrifice. I went 7 Assassin Rogue (starter) & 5 Gloomstalker Ranger, gave him crit gear, and he destroyed

Another fun build I made was with Karlach: 4 Wildheart Barb 8 Open Hand Monk. With the right gear she was doing a walloping 50+ per unarmed strike, so 100+ per turn of combat before bonuses, healing every turn (with special gloves), and when enraged she also has resistance to all dmg except psychic, so girlie literally could not die.

I went 4/8 because 9 Open Hand's ability wasn't worth it, so might as well get the feat instead.

7 Assassin Rogue/5 Gloomstalker Ranger (my Astarion build):

10 Evocation Wizard/2 Moon Druid:

• Sure, you sacrifice your 6th level Wizard spells, but that's what scrolls are for. Why be just a Wizard when you can also turn into a cat, hm? Cat or 6th level Spell slot? Cat wins, paws down.

6 Assassin Rogue/6 Shadow Monk

• Haha teehee teleport all around the room going stab stab stab stab stab stab-

5 Beast Master Ranger/7 Moon Druid

• Summons. Have a dog, have another dog, and turn into a dog. What more could you want?

Boy was so happy to be genuinely loved and wanted, and to return those feelings honestly. Very good stuff.||

I don't usually immediately replay games, I haven't done it in years, maybe even a decade, and yet I immediately itched to replay BG3 when I finished. And everyone here seems to have also begun a second playthrough not long after completing the first, has the same thing happened to you, or is that normal for you?

A game has to do something really special for me to want to replay it, especially immediately after finishing it.

The first and most immediate game that comes to mind is the original Resident Evil 4. I conquered (Earned and did everything) that game. And when the Wii edition came out (Favorite version), I conquered that one too.

I discovered a very interesting feature of College of Swords Bards. You've got "slashing flourish" which allows you to hit two adjacent enemies in mêlée, but also has a super strong ranged version where you can hit two enemies no matter how far apart they are. Well I am currently dual wielding hand crossbows, and when using the ranged slashing flourish, I have been hitting the two targets twice each, with both crossbows! yayy damage!

Except I didn't consider the fact that the ||Harpers|| don't wait for you, so while I was managing my team thinking I was being super smart, they were getting ||absolutely decimated||. Reloaded and tried again, going faster and making sure ||Jaheira joined my party because I ain't losing her||, but I was too slow again.
All the ||Harpers (minus Jaheira and the Quatermaster)|| are dead while my party barely broke a sweat....... I may reload and try again tomorrow 😅

So even though I know exactly how to get to the ||Iron Throne||, I was feeling super stubborn today and decided to do the ||Save the Gondians|| quest properly, stealthing into the ||Iron Steel Foundry|| and finding out where the ||iron throne|| is that way. Wellll stealth is an absolute fucking nightmare on the ||lower levels||! Next to zero places to hide, no stealth checks at all, the second they glimpse a teensy part of you initiative begins even if you're ||hiding on the pipes above||. I had to reload so many times! Went in with just Bav and Minsc as lil farts via use of Gaseous form and I guess they were stinky because that also did absolutely nothing. Only thing that worked was invisibility. I wish there were other ways!

I have been debating really hard whether I should do good or bad Dark Urge first, I think the "easy" thing to do is bad first but not entirely sure. Like I know that after my next playthrough I am going full evil (or at least trying, if I can stomach it 😅), but should I make my Selûne cleric (of all people!) a good Dark Urge first? Who knows!

How about a mix? Start out bad but later make it a good run? Redemptions stories work best when the bad acts are in the story itself. You can do the whole Minthara relationship from the start that way!

Also Act 3 isn't loading properly now. Like when I load into the city the walls and roofs don't load until I'm either inside of a building or standing direclty beside it. Otherwise the floors, furniture, and floating doors all load in. It's very annoying.

Like I just got the legendary Rapier and during that entire quest none of the walls in the city proper loaded. It's very disorienting walking around Baldur's Gate not knowing where the freaking walls and roofs are

I'm running BG3 on Medium to be safe (I can technically handle High, but I don't want to push my luck more than I already am on a very old computer) and it's so slow

By November I should have all of my computer parts in (it was next month, but I ran into problems 😭 ) and maybe running on an upgraded computer will let me know if it's a ME problem or a GAME problem

I have a solid 6 weeks or so before I can test it out, so hopefully in those 6 weeks Act 3 will be properly upgraded

Act 3 for sure has performance issues, but the patches have honestly worked very well for me on I think the highest settings (I have a 3070 Ti and 32 GB of RAM if you're curious). I'm sorry it's doing nothing for you! I did also switch from DirectX11 to Vulkan, didn't notice a change for the better or the worse, but Larian seem to want you to use Vulkan so I thought why not

I have created my Dark Urge Drow Cleric of Selûne (poor lady there is so much going on here) and done the Nautiloid with her now.... Am I gonna succeed in making this my tactician playthrough? 😅
I am really good on balanced, like most of the PCs barely break a sweat in combat and they very often go to sleep with over 80% of their HP left (like last time Bav went unconscious is when she got ||yeeted from the top of a tower||!), so maybe it'll be fine!

If you have a decent grasp of the mechanics and a balanced party, you'll be fine

balanced is too easy for me now that I've played on tactician a bit, and I wouldn't consider myself super good at the game

Managed to save all but two ||Gondians|| at the ||Steelwatch Foundry|| last night, no easy feat given the lil shits keep ||running into danger||. Had to ||dimension door 3 of them out of a steel watcher's blast radius (couldn't get to the two that died in time)||. Had completely missed the ||Ironhands|| on my first playthrough so didn't realise how clutch their ||steelwatcher-stunning grenades|| would be! Bav was truly flexing her crowd control spells with a triple hold person on the ||guards|| and Evocation Gale is such a must! Lvl 5 fireball with no friendly fire go boooom! (Took Halsin the first time I did it....didn't go as well)

Was this attempt before or after the ||iron throne||? I've heard doing the ||Iron Throne|| first sends all the ||Gondians|| into berserk mode.

Oh I've always done ||Iron Throne|| before, seems odd to me that they wouldn't immediately ||blow it up|| (like leave the party no time to even reach it) the second anything feels amiss in the ||foundry||. Like the whole point of the ||Iron Throne|| is to stop the ||Gondians|| from ||rebelling or being freed|| by ||holding all their families hostages||! The game just lets you ||kill every enemy in the foundry first with no consequences??||

Yep. That was my very first playthrough. ||I attacked the foundry first. The way it goes is that all the Gondians don't do anything out of fear that their loved ones will be killed. Even the blind Gondian won't do anything until he knows his daughter is safe. So if you attack the factory, the Gondians will stay out of the fights leaving you to just worry about the detonation devices||

||Once everything in the factory is cleared, you come across plans for a sub that will update your quest. ||

||And the iron throne plays out like it would have if you do it first. ||

The only thing that affects the Iron Throne pre-rescue are the ||detonation devices that the knights bring out. That is it.||

Yeah I ||found those by doing recon and stealthing through the foundry|| (with great pain, see post above). Damn that makes everything much easier. But it baffles me that it doesn't ||lead to negative consequences in the Iron Throne||!
Surely ||save hostages then assault foundry|| is what the devs intended (and what I've been doing!)

I wouldn't call it nothing. ||There is still a tiny fight in the foundry that the Gondians take part in, but it's nothing compared to what you would face if you did the foundry first.||

Gosh, them ||steering clear of the main fights is 100 times easier than them participating. Believe me, they have a death wish!||. Also the ||detonation devices|| are there no matter what
