👋 Beam
I hope they get this team to make another Metroid. IIRC, it's happening, they have a different game set for release in 2025 first, though.
By then we'll have Prime 4, surely it won't be delayed again... surely
panting
Itorash.
(That clip is even better with sound, only wasn't sure if i should post that here or in video-memes)
Putting off my immense frustration with Mr. Beak for a bit, to do that thing I always do with Metroid games...
Haven't gotten that far yet. It's a slow process.
Or checklist plus route itinerary?
Essentially.
Even more fun when you sequence break!
I have the doc open on one side of my screen, the IGN walkthrough on the other, and the IGN interactive map up on my laptop. The cardinal directions are to give me an idea of where everything is, so that hopefully, I don't get too lost in my next playthrough.
The big thing for me is just trying to remember the beginning, because damn there be loops
This will be a 100% item list, and probably will be slightly different than when I've played blind. (The first Energy Part and that last Missile shown in Artaria are examples of side trips that I hadn't considered.)
And all the fun Speed Booster puzzles.
Mmhm, some of which I still can't do. (But in the current playthrough I think I managed a couple more than previously.)
That horrid one in the cold room in Dairon, for example. Still impossible.
The game doesn't tell you this, but about Shine Spark: ||If you shine spark into a slope, Samus will continue to Speed Dash.||
I did have to watch a few videos to learn how to do some of those puzzles.
As for Raven Beak: ||The single biggest advice I can give to you is to not get hit. No damage taken at all. If you get hit, Samus loses energy. If you lose all your energy, Samus explodes. So don't get hit. Also, shoot Raven Beak in his stupid face. A lot.||
I did know that about Shinesparking, though I'll admit I also had to look it up. What I didn't know this time around is that you can do it in Morph Ball form. 🤯
You have to Spark Ball to get an item in Artaria. Room just right of the Giant Room where the Power Bomb Expansion is up top.
Right, not left. You have to destroy blocks on the left to set up the Ball Spark if I remember correctly.
Yuuup. And of course I had to look up how it's physically possible to Spark Ball one ball's height off the floor, and—oh FFS is that a Beam block in the wall?!?
The things you miss on a playthrough...
Just Sparkshine Beam Ball Blast Bomb through
As for Raven Beak, in seriousness: ||I'm guessing you can handle Phase 1 pretty well. I do like to Power Bomb the black spheres he shoots just to clear them quickly. Phase 2, stay on the ground whenever possible -- Slide or Ball under his horizontal tackles. Try not to stay near the walls; makes it harder to dodge the circular burst and a followup horizontal charge. He's a bit more vulnerable to missiles than beams here. Flash Shift to the side to avoid his dive. Phase 3, again try not to be near the walls. He likes to shine spark horizontally then vertically if you're too close to the wall or if you take too long in the air (keep it to one jump plus Shift). His giant Sun attack can be destroyed with a power bomb. As he's tracking you for the Hyper Beam, he will pause his aim just before firing. Be prepared for the melee counters when he's low on life.||
||A lot of it is just recognizing which attack he's using and reacting quickly.||
||And beams are good in Phase 3.||
To be fair, this time around I haven't even gotten past Phase 1. (Previous game I could get to Phase 2.)
Ah. ||Don't stay too close to him; he loves to melee combo. Jump away then flash shift over him when he tries it. Recognize when he's about to use the 270 degreen screen beam (he reels back then raises his arm cannon) and get as close to him as possible, then get ready to dodge his melee combo. When he prepares the red wave, morph ball, then prepare for melee counter. When he's in Gold armor, he'll warp to one side of the screen and taunt Samus. Walk up close to him and counter the attack (if you stop moving as he prepares the attack, he will hold back). Also, watch for his full screen punch dash -- it's counterable. When he's gold, you can only damage him during melee counters.||
||In Phase 3, he uses most of his Phase 1 attacks, plus the ones I mentioned earlier.||
Why can't Metroid be ballin 🤔
The true Dread: The Ball has been denied.
Pray that the cat doesn't find the Morph Bomb.
Now now, that's what the litter box is for.
Cat obtains Power Bomb.
One thing about Dread I didn't pick up on (SPOILERS) ||is how Samus gets many of her abilities. I'm so used to getting items after defeating bosses that I didn't account for how she acquires them. The X-bosses aren't a surprise because she explicitly absorbed them in Fusion. The EMMIs and Control Units though? She's draining their power right from the beginning of the game!||
||That makes sense in hindsight considering they do state the metroid dna kicks in after encountering Raven Beak||
Dread response to above message but minor spoiler for Prime 2 ||I do like how its similar to how you get upgrades or rather steal you stuff back from the ing in Prime 2||
Speaking of Prime 2, ||referencing the "Where's the Morph Ball??" art, the Ing are nice enough to let you keep it.||
On paper at least (*points upthread*), I just passed Drogyga again.
I'm starting to wish I had a Metroid OST playlist to listen to while I work...
(I can make one, but it'd take a lot of time.)
I miss U-Mos. I hope we get to see the Luminoth species again.
Passed the Screw Attack on the checklist. Now making sure I collect the (for the moment unusable) Power Bomb Tanks as early as is convenient.
Question, because I don't actually remember: how many Power Bombs do you start with once you actually unlock them in Hanubia? 2? 3?
(Oh that's right, you can get the one in the Artaria-Dairon elevator really early, right after the Grapple Beam.)
Aight, I have conclusively determined that, up to this point, only 3 Power Bomb Tanks are possible or convenient (i.e. without massive backtrack) to collect.
You start with 2. Each expansion gives you 1 (They learned their lesson quickly after Super Metroid).
Ah, got it.
Yeah, what the heck did we need 50 Power Bombs for, anyway? 🤣 Not for Crocomire.
I think anything above 15 is overkill in SM.
5 per expansion yay.
Then again, we're always getting an overload of regular missiles.
.....Oh, just read you get up to 74 power bombs in Fusion.
Which is saying a lot because you get 2 per expansion.
That's silly.
Anyways, Metroid Dread 100% item count: (spoilers) ||1299 Energy, 275 Missiles, 15 Power Bombs. That includes 8 Full Tanks, 16 Tank pieces, 13 Power Bombs Expansions, and the rest are either small (2) or large (10) Missile expansions.||
Whoops, I was wrong about the Tank vs Tank piece count.
Had to double check.
I forgot which item is where. I just know there's an item in a spot and I'm gonna get it (maybe).
I'll send you my checklist when it's done. Then you'll know what's where and when. (Not counting sequence breaks. ||Though I'd like to try the Morph Bomb break one of these days, to see how much easier it actually makes Kraid's fight.||)
||Bombs on Kraid make the whole second phase a joke. You do take damage though, so make sure you have enough energy. So it's not an option in Dread Mode.||
||That list doesn't count the two amiibo bonuses I'm reading about, does it? They allegedly give one extra Energy Tank and Missile+ Tank.||
||No it doesn't.||
Good, because that would make things more complicated than they already are. (Which is to say, my first draft checklist, as of Itorash, has about two dozen items uncollected, and seven of those are unaccounted for...)
||The Green Teleporter room in Burenia has some items in the bottom right. One easy to get, one requiring Speed Booster shenanigans||
||At least the game is nice enough to tell you your item collection% percentage in an area when you bring up the map.||
||I know, and I hate it. Never got that one.|| That one's already accounted for, at least.
||You have to Shinespark into slopes. Only way to do it.||
||Top Left of Burenia, just past the save room opened up by Quiet Robe, has a Large Missile Pack at the top of the screen. It's one I always pick up in my regular runs.||
||There's a Large Missile pack on the way down to the bottom of Burenia (it's to the left, just below the door). There's a Large Missile pack also on the way up from Gravity Suit to the Artaria elevator, but that's a easy one.||
It's been a while since I've done 100%, so I generally just remember the items I consistently get.
||From the Dairon-Artaria elevator, you know about the power bomb expansion. Just left of that room has a missile expansion on top requiring Grapple. And just left of that is a Tank Part above a lava pool.||
(Sequence Break) ||Remember that room with the Tank Part!! Shoot the bottom right floor after getting the Varia Suit and there's your path to the Grapple Beam. You have to do a slide followed by a late jump to cross -- twice. You're taking 200+ damage if you mess up the first one, and messing up the second jump is flat out fatal. There's a save point a couple rooms to the left. Save and practice.||
Started my third playthrough today. Defeated Kraid much faster than before because I was able to get the QTE timing down.
Drogyga first try 🤣 (Got the QTE again.)
Escue second try!
Z-57 FIRST TRY LET'S FREAKING GOOOO
Hell yeah!
Funny enough, I died a lot to regular Chozo Soldiers in my early Dread Mode runs because I was so used to fighting the Shield and Elite Soldiers.
(Specifically, in their Second Phase, regular Soldiers jump from the wall to always hit the center of the room, whereas Elites will lock onto your location)
🙃
Good Luck on Raven Beak. Let him eat crow!
minor spoilers (||All the teleporters you've found connect once you reach Itorash -- For the longest time, I thought you had to find all seven pair of teleporters first.||)
That might be helpful for the upcoming item hunt. I've run down my list of the items that should be remaining, and have accounted for all but 3 Missile Tanks. Now I need to come up with an efficient collection route.
One of the missile tanks is in that one section of that area with the things. Somewhere NESW of the elevator from the other level.
I'll report back once I've verified that there are no more flashing rooms or unexplored areas for there to be one.
All items accounted for - checklist revision later. 7 items omitted this run: 4 Missile+, 1 Missile, and 2 Energy Parts (i.e., the most difficult items to collect).
Are you gathering up items for the final boss fight or going for 100% run?
Yes and no. But as near 100% as I can manage.
I would like to see the actual damage modifier the devs used for Dread Mode. Did they put a multiplier of 42069, or did they just have everything deal 77777 damage?
Behold: my scribbles. 😅
That M Tank in Elun was not a M+ as I believed. The one in the horrid Speed Booster puzzle in Ferenia (earlier in the doc) is. That will be corrected in the revision.
(I can't confirm that one in Ferenia, of course, because I've never even seen it.)
The one at the Ferenia west entrance?
He's too fast. That may take a while to reach.
THIRD PHASE
||He just rips his leftover wing off?? Unreal...||
I think I'm close. Need to pause for dinner though.
||local bounty hunter too angry to die||
Hell yeah! Congrats!
Ty!!!
Looking back at the save game times for my three runs - I managed to do this run 5 hours faster than the one earlier this month, with the same item percentage!
I forgot that Rookie Mode also increases the missiles you start with: 30 instead of 15.
Some speedruns play on Rookie Mode because of it. The speed route in Artaria takes on Corpius before you get Charge Beam, so missing missile shots is no fun.
So, what, does that mean you wind up with 290 Missiles max instead of 275?
Yep.
Huh. Interesting.
Yoinkly sploinky pseudo wave?
Sure!
I swear, I keep finding things to add or change in this document 🤣
Context: the Dread checklist I assembled (loosely based off the IGN walkthrough, with a few alterations) became very note-heavy, particularly for the endgame items. Which I then expanded to all bosses (at minimum a short note reminding what QTE counter(s) to watch for), and a few early- to mid-game items that require a not necessarily intuitive trick to reach, especially if earlier than intended. And of course, a lengthy section on "Feathers". So all of these extra notes, even in a smaller font size than the main text, take up an entire extra page, for a total of 5 pages.
(Like my previous checklists for Prime and Prime 2, the pages are arranged in this manner so it can be folded in half like a pamphlet, for portability.)
Tl;dr: this is a 100% items checklist, with no major sequence breaking.
(The endgame items, by the way, include the Seven Items I Have Never Gotten, and the notes for those detail the theoretical manner in which they are collected.)
Now I want to play Prime 1 and/or 2 again.
I hope we get a Prime 2 or a remaster soon
Prime 2 Remaster would be great.
I still have Prime 3 to play. I really ought to before Prime 4 comes out...
Started a Hard Mode file. Wish me luck...
Good luck!
Welp, both of my attempts to reach the Bombs early failed.
(I did not look it up, wanted to try to figure it out myself. Then I saved in the wrong place...)
It would be wild if Nintendo doesn't release remasters of Prime 2 & 3 when Prime 4 is slated for 2025
I thought maybe Prime 3 reliance on Wii Motion controls could be a problem, but Skyward Sword is on Switch, since I'm not a game dev, I fail to see what the problem is
Dairon is pretty rough early on, especially on Hard.
Pre-Varia, everything hits for 120. 🙃
Out of your 299 Max Energy.
Well, not quite everything. 😅 Besides, it wasn't a question of surviving to get there, aside from avoiding the E.M.M.I. The northerly route through the room below the Ferenia elevator is blocked by Speed Booster blocks. And the southerly route, via the hot rooms and the big tall E.M.M.I. Zone room, has an obstruction that requires the Diffusion Beam to destroy, with the only other ledge just out of reach even for a wall jump.
And of course the Grapple Beam blocking the only other path. So, short of getting Grapple or Flash Shift early as well, how is it possible to get there?
||You do need Grapple to get to Bombs (the door to Bombs is Grapple locked IIRC). The earliest you can get bombs are Varia Suit > Grapple Beam > Bombs. I generally beat Kraid and get Diffusion before Grapple, but everyone should Bomb Kraid at least once!||
||But there's only two ways to get to the Grapple Beam: through the Speed Booster blocks and up, or through the giant lava room at the bottom of Dairon. And unless there's some way I'm not seeing, you can't do the latter without Space Jump.||
||Lava Room Indeed. You have to slide and jump at the last moment, at two points in the room. Take the save point a few rooms to the left -- It takes some practice to not give Samus a lava bath.||
||Yeah the lava room early Kraid morph ball bomb kill skip is SUPER tight to execute but it's very much possible||
||I don't even know if it's entirely intended but you can certainly do it||
||Pretty sure it's an intended skip because there's an intentional bomb slot boost in Phase 2 of Kraid, and you need Grapple for Bombs||
I'll give it a try.
||It takes some practice, and failure hurts. Missing the first slide jump will cause 200-ish damage, whereas you will definitely die if you miss the second one.||
||Hard mode does not increase environmental / lava damage compared to Normal.||
||I've wondered about that last part - thanks for the info!||
||You're welcome. Heck, environmental / lava damage doesn't even kill you instantly in Dread mode! -- But the flamethrowers and any attacks that inflict non-flinching hits (akin to environmental damage) WILL kill in Dread.||
||It's why I collected some energy tanks in non-100, non-zero Dread Runs. Because fuck Z-57.||
||You know that Energy Part in lower Artaria, on the other side of where you get the Charge Beam, through a cold room? And the one in the lava pool just after the Varia Suit? I get those early even though they're high-risk.||
Those stupid spinning electric blades in Dairon, on the other hand.
I'm really not seeing how it can be done...
pants Beat Kraid.
(I made a copy of the save file to try the impossible slide-jump of death later.)
||It doesn't look possible at first. After sliding off the edge, you can jump as you begin to fall. It looks like Samus is doing a second jump (think Spin Boost / Space Jump) when you do it right. And it oddly gives you enough height to grab onto that ledge on the upper right.||
||I'm pretty sure I was able to get past that point and got the morph ball bomb early to skip Kraid fight.||
||It took me a lot of tries to make it past that room but it's very possible. It's all about timing the jumps||
||Best thing about early Grapple is that you don't have to fight Crocomire!||
Is Escue faster on Hard, or was it just my imagination? (Took 4 tries.)
I don't think so, but I am so used to Hard vs Normal that I don't actually know.
You are taking double damage so the fight definitely can end faster.
Z-57 4, Samus 0
That sounds very Z-57.
5-0
I've been practicing my Shinesparking during the Flappy Bird part. Managed to get one off once, but poorly aimed.
Z-57 5, Samus 1
Time to Screw around.
Vroom!
I've played Super so many times, I know exactly where that is.
Long ass hallway in Upper Norfair with piles of Speed Booster blocks with some od those bugs hiding in them? (I don't know enemy names)
Correct.
Trying to remember - aren't there two of those?
(one on the way to Crocomire, one on the way back)
(They're called Beetoms. Nasty little things that suck your energy until you freeze or bomb them.)
That one in Red Tower always annoys me.
Yeah. One is necessary for that big ass Speed Booster Jump (not even necessarily Shine Spark)
No, both of these are strictly running. I think you're thinking of the one on the way to that item you don't usually get. 😝
Yes I am. I forgot the other running path then.
The one to Crocomire (the normal way, anyway) is past the shutters and down the really tall shaft with a Missile Tank in the wall at the top, then through the door at the bottom. The other one is further up, between the room with the bubble walls and the save station near the elevator.
I think they both have Beetoms hiding in them, but I am not 100% sure, and would have to boot up the game to check. (The maps in the Player's Guide, while accurate, don't show all of the enemies.)
How's the bird slaying going, @loud coyote ?
I, uh... set it down for a few days. 😅 I left off having beat the Elite Chozo Soldier, and was item hunting, including a serious attempt at some of the harder ones.
No, no. See, this is the other Norfair runway.
Alright, I have conclusively determined that the long tunnel between the save station and the bubble room is the only one that actually has Beetoms. (The longer one with the slope has Space Pirates and such.)
I've encountered them in the Energy Tank room that gets unlocked after you defeat Kraid. They showed up again later in Brinstar in the area leading up to the Etecoons. Buggers all of them.
I had so much trouble with that room once. Beetoms that early are a menace.
They deserve nothing less than 5 Power Bombs each. Just in case.
PEAK
Metroid Prime 1–3: A Visual Retrospective: The Official Art and Making of Metroid Prime 1–3 hardcover book announced from Piggyback. 212 pages for $49.99 https://buff.ly/3Zn37XI
It would pair well with Prime 2 & 3 on Switch, I'd be fine with simpler ports, tbh
Phantoom, my beloathed.
Phantoom is actually pretty easy, but time-consuming depending on what weapons you use. (Like if you turn off the Ice Beam, your beam is slightly weaker, but you can also get extra hits in...)
ew
Samus is confused
Yeah, but I am bad at fighting him early (i.e. before Kraid).
Nbd!

Even Gravity Suit won't protect Samus from Snowy Song Syndication.
Not even from Whamageddon??
It would be great if Metroid Prime 4 won, but GTA 6 is also in that category, so, yeah.
She looks really annoyed that someone has made dents in her armor
someone keyed her ship
Whoever it was has a bounty on them, it just hasn't been posted by the Federation
You got Speed Booster.
Lore accurate samus
Is that a little dish of X Parasites for the baby 🤣
Everyone in the cafeteria must be part-metroid.
I am actually curious what kind of cuisine she enjoys.
Purple Slurp Worm
Also noticed Samus has some metal or something on her shoulders and elbows.
That is interesting. She is a human augmented with Chozo DNA (||and later Metroid||), but maybe those have something to do with interfacing with the Power Suit?
But is that normal space food or a Chozo food?
neither
purple food
Porple
I guess it's common sci-fi space food, there's not much else to go on. Can't remember ever seeing the metal things in official art, so looks like a (fan) artistic liberty to me
They draw the best Samus
So, is there any doubt that Metroid Prime 4 is going to be a Switch 2 release, if not a version for both consoles like Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild before it?
I wouldn't be surprised. Except she'll be left-handed on Switch 1.
Oh geez, I hope it's not Switch 2-exclusive. Can't afford more new hardware...
It's been in development since like 2017 so it's probably gonna be a dual-launch title like Jeyl said imo
Especially since it was revealed in a Direct that was all about games for the Nintendo Switch, which specifically contained nothing about the Switch 2
So it HAS to be on the Switch or it's false advertising
I just want Prime 2 and 3 first bc tbh I'm still not sold on Prime
I much prefer 2D Metroid
To be honest, if you didn't care for Prime 1, you probably won't like the others.
depends if there's platforming
Some prefer Echoes (Prime 2), but generally Prime 1 is seen as the king of 3D Metroid, much like Super Metroid for 2D.
Prime 2 does have some platforming relative to Prime 1. But not a lot.
I hate it here #MetroidPrimeRemastered #NintendoSwitch
if it's anything like this then I'd hate it
like
first person platforming is awful Idk how people enjoy it
I need to see my feet and any obstacles that might bonk my head
Fair
Yeah, Prime 2 has more of that, and more difficult bosses overall.
Boost Guardian. All my homies hate Boost Guardian.
At least it will probably take less time than between Fusion and Dread.
Dread came out 4 years after Samus Returns and we're coming up on Dread's 4th anniversary
maybe.... they could do another Metroid game in the same year
Like they used to do!
Possible hot take, but I think they would have avoided that if they just waited a bit, the moving platform goes close enough so only a single jump is necessary
There might not be a 2D Metroid from MercurySteam this year, they are working on something called "Project Iron" and it does not have a release date yet
I couldn't possibly have seen the random metal bar sticking out of the ceiling bc of the visor hud
It's quite visible if you look up at the ceiling. Alternatively the ledge sticks out on the left side they could have jumped to instead of straight ahead
The 3D platforming in Prime certainly has a different feel than in the 2D ones, and it's not for everyone. Some greatly prefer the 2D.
it's me I'm some
I really enjoy both
Correctoin. The "QUEEN" of 3D Metroid
Oh snap! Does that mean (Fusion and Dread spoilers) ||Samus is a Queen Metroid?! Can she lay eggs?!||
The Metroid Species must have a very low birthrate. Their entire species on SR-388 was only in the double digits and there was only one egg after fighting the Queen.
This is likely why the pirates and Federation resorted to cloning because the species was too darn slow. Like Pandas.
I prefer Hatchling myself. I may be a tad mixed on that idea. The hatchling never evolved passed it's basic stage. It just kept growing and growing
Yet the ones in Fusion could grow into other phases
Gosh. That always scared me going through the same early rooms in Fusion with no X's and signs of a Metroid changing stages with it's former shells laying around
It was such a great way to explain how a metroid went through several stages in such a short amount of time. It had LOTS of food
Delicious X
I'd like to think that the other SA-Xs that were mentioned all met in the hanger to try and steal Samus' ship but were ambushed by the Metroid and a whole chaotic battle took place before it consumed them all to change into the stage we fight
Think the ending to Rogue one with all those rebel soldiers being the SA-X and boom, Vader (Metroid) comes in and just goes to town
Never played any of the zero games, but I did spend the better part of my life beliving that Zero was a girl.
Until I read the manual from the Wii shop. I was bummed
Ah, the bisexual sitting/sleeping position.
The baby Metroid nomming on her shoulder 🥺🤣
noodles are not for baby! ☝️
Legit watched the entire video to see if the baby Metroid would try to steal the noodles. 🤣
head canon
The bike is literally her suit
I would have the ball shaped shoulders be the wheels (Heck, just keep the ball shape)
Now that I've had time to think about it, I'd just stick with a very quick and speedy Morph Ball.
hard to look hot when you're a spherical can of chozo noodle soup
CHOZO NOODLE SOUP 🤣
That's why she'll pop out of the MP and re-enter it when the moment suits her.

I wondered which of you would say that.
Doesn't that mean she forgot to collect the AC upgrade 🤔
Sequence breaking has its price.
Like that absurd thing in Cataris that I could never pull off?
-# tl;dr: lava is hot
Which absurd thing?
||If you mean early Grapple, that's the Lava Pit in Dairon, near the Artaria elevator.||
Also, Metroid II GB music is on Nintendo Music.
This one.
(which I think is early Morph Ball Bombs...?)
||It's Grapple Beam, which also lets you get Bombs earlier than normal. In fact, I don't even remember the standard item collection route anymore.||
||Actually, you get Bombs right after Diffusion normally. Grapple can let you get it before Diffusion, but it's more efficient to go Diffusion then Grapple.||
I don't even remember what's where anymore. That was almost a year ago.
I recently watched a No Major Glitches speedrunning guide to try to catch up on routes, and to finally get an idea of Psuedo Wave timings.
Samus looks so done lmao
The Phantoon in the corner
Super Missile that Phantoon! ... Wait...
I do find it amusing that Phantoon has different reactions to each of Samus's attacks... including if you turn off the Ice Beam.
Didn't realize that. Hadn't tried other beams in a long time.
I just know Super Missiles make him mad.
They do, indeed.
I still think it's amusing that Dread Speedrunning is often done in Rookie Mode.

Blast through anything that stands between you and survival in #MetroidPrime4: Beyond on #NintendoSwitch and #NintendoSwitch2, available Dec 4.
YOUR OBJECTIVE:
Join Samus as she explores Planet Viewros and fends off the deadly encounters that await her.
#MetroidPrime4: Beyond releases for #NintendoSwitch2 and #NintendoSwitch on Dec 4. Pre-order now: https://ninten.do/6016tHyGm
With the game coming out soon, I think it's time for a bet.
Does Planet Viewros survive in the end?
I'm going to say... No.
I'm just surprised Nintendo hasnt remastered prime 2 and 3 yet
Considering 4 is coming out soon they should have remastered those 2 like they did with no more heroes back when 3 was about to come out grasshopper remastered both 1 and 2 before 3 came out
probably cheaper to just add them to NSO 6 years from now
You're probably right.
Yeah but the problem is prime 3 was never on the GameCube
Are they going to make a Wii online bundle next
I forgot about Prime 3
Yeah it's weird that Nintendo didn't make it for both GameCube and Wii like they did with twilight princess
Considering the GameCube was still supported until 2007
Imagine a flipped Prime 3 where Samus's arm cannon is on her left.
Rime, I'm already suffering trying to learn the dumbass motion controls of that game. Why would you curse me like that...?
-# (smh that Nintendo banked everything on Wii Remote/Nunchuk for Prime 3 and gave no other options)
You could play the theoretical Gamecube version on the theoretical Gamecube controller.
If that was theoretically an option, wouldn't I already have heard of it? I have an OG Wii, but even if I plug my GameCube controller in, it doesn't seem likely that it'll do anything.
Theoretically, you may have.
But theoretically, you may not have.
I sound profound now.
From what I've googled the controls are only the nunchuck and Wii remote
There's no GameCube controller support unless the prime trilogy disc supported it considering it came out 2 years after prime 3 released
I'm just assuming cause when the prime trilogy came out for Wii they updated the controls for Wii remote support for both prime 1 and 2
From what I've read, it seems doubtful, but I'm not planning on shelling out for the Trilogy disc anytime soon.
I do want to play Prime 2 again. I'm just too lazy to hook up my Gamecube again.
I am fortunate enough to have both the OG Wii and a GameCube to use. But I would probably wind up booting Prime 1 again... 🤣
I haven't played Prime 1 in a while either.
Thankfully I have the og Wii that's backwards compatible with GameCube controllers
The problem is I don't have the controllers for the ports lol

Oh no, Metroid's suit!
I'm putting this foward right now so that there isn't any misconception or misinterpretation.
I like that we're getting 'kind of' ||companions who talk to Samus in Metroid Prime: Beyond. I understand, respect and downright love the feeling of isolation that a majority of Metroid games instil on the player, but since this is a living breathing universe with many many races and civilizations, it's nice to have a reminder of that.
I am also happy that Samus gets to interact with another woman.||
||I hope we can romance them||
As I was discussing with someone on Twitter regarding this: ||I do like the addition of companions, but as it's a Metroid game, I'm not going to hold my breath as to their long-term survival. Because a very similar sort of thing happens early on in Corruption, and I'm not expecting that to last particularly long, either...||
||long enough to hit it and quit it||
||Maybe they die mid-hit?||
||Which brings new meanings to the term "Not lasting long".||
||can't handle the Samussy||
|| nice nice nice ||
||I do hope they survive. Having ANOTHER group of Metroid Prime characters die all over again is becoming too typical for the series. ||
December 4th is when you can preorder prime 4
And once again, the UK gets some KILLER items when you pre-order it. That 'S' logo keychain is so awesome
I thought December 4 was the release date??
10 days until Myles Mackenzie becomes the new Metroid man
And crawl
Alphas don't crawl
No, they fly around. Metroid PRIMES, however, crawl and dig and
Prime 5 when
As long as the release date between Fusion and Dread.
Yeah about that 10 years later at the time which was 2017 prime 4 was announced

so this is the second tall blonde badass this year for her now
Cool!
idk how much actual VA Samus will have in reality tho
I knew Nielnail was Samus coded
I will have to avoid Metroid websites for a while. Don't have time nor money for Prime 4 right now.
she voiced Lola Bunny in multiversus

Looks like Metroid Prime 4 Switch 2 edition is another switch game that includes the Switch 2 enhancements.
But is Metroid Prime 2 Switch 4 edition a switch game that includes the Switch 4 enhancements?
Poor Metroid being dragged into the aether.
Does it include the crawling Metroid
Crawling Metroid got their talons on prime real estate in Elysium. No waste or anything to bog down their sanctuary
Let Metroid cook crawl
Mmm steamedtroid
I would eat the fuck out of Metroid gushers
Our work vending machine has gushers.
Y'all ||I hate the controls in Prime 4 so fucking much||
||you get gyro OR stick camera controls, not both||
||okay nevermind you can enable motion controls on dual stick mode to have both on at the same time||
Come now, it can't possibly be worse than Prime 3's... right?
GameStop has disappointed me — my copy of Prime 4 isn't arriving until Monday. (But it's a Christmas present, so I'm not in a big hurry.)
o7
o7
Hopefully they'll update it? >.<
Recommend the edit feature.
Prime 3 is in a 'bad' category?
The controls, yes.
It's a prime example of trying to force system function onto the players without taking into consideration the benefit.
The tracking lied — it came today. Still can't open it till Christmas. 😆
Guess that means you gotta 100% Dread Mode Dread until then.
Then... okay, 0% Dread mode Dread.
100% kinda sucks to be honest.
100% Dread Mode I mean
it's always Metroid Dread
why can't it be Metroid Hope
Metroid Hope any% whichever speed you're comfortable with run
To be fair, I haven't beaten Hard Mode yet. So I don't think I even have access to Dread Mode...?
You're right. I didn't realize you had to beat Hard Mode first; I had to check a guide.
Looks similar to Mega Man Zero's art style. Nice!
||I'm happy that the Metroid universe has a character like Nora, seen here reacting to Samus who is merely walking into the room.||
||they should kiss||
Let's go full Mass Effect on this. Create your own character, romances all the ladies, expand the heck out of the Metroid universe and have a nice chat with Samus.
That'd be a fun bit of lore your character would uncover. In less than five years, ||five whole worlds have disappeared and/or been destroyed. All of which involved Samus. Dark Aethor because Samus turned off the dark, Phaaze due to massive withdraw, Zebes via self-infliected Time Bomb, SR-388 via station collision and ZDR... well, we're still trying to figure that one out. ||
Why romance other women in the game when you can shoot your shot with Samus (||Shot deflected by Varia Suit||)?
Because if Samus is going to romance anyone, it will be when we're playing as her!
Gotcha.
Nintendo explains how Metroid Prime 4's open-world desert gameplay came to be, and confirms its placement in the Metroid timeline relative to the rest of the series, including Super Metroid!

what if Samus turns into a hamster when she's in the morph ball
need her in my campsite
Woah... happy birthday Hamus Arin
QRT: knowyourmeme
On this day one year ago, @CrisppyBoat posted the “Hamus” fanart.
Plot twist, Samus' suit is a giant mech
Makes some sense, at least.
I don't think the game would have turned out any better if they did.
Like, I haven't finished the game yet, so far it's enjoyable, just doesn't hit the same highs as the great Metroid games.
For reference, I think those are Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Fusion, Dread and Zero Mission
I haven't finished Super Metroid yet, I'm starting Metroid 2 first via NSO

Meanwhile me, having still not played...
"Don't talk to me or my son or my son or my son or my son again, or you'll get a Power Beam to the face"
I've got fond memories of when they teamed up for the Subspace Emissary mode in Smash Bros: Brawl!
I vaguely remember that!
Run, don't crawl— songs from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System game Super Metroid are now available in the #NintendoMusic app: https://t.co/WvsAq8tOvX
...you mean Lower Norfair.
That's Magmoor Caverns
Lower Torvus Bog is Brinstar Red Tower.
Ohhh
I'd forgotten that Red Brinstar made it into one of the newer games.
(Tbf also, I've played Prime 2 many fewer times than Prime 1.)
I think I've played both the same, but I like listening to both soundtracks a lot.
I finished Metroid Prime 4: Beyond recently.
I liked it a lot, although it doesn't match the peaks of Prime 1 & 2.
Granted, that is a struggle for a lot of games in general, beyond just the Metroid series.
Well, it's not a very long game, unless one wants to track down all the items & scans.
Getting some missile expansions and such is useful, yet one does not need all of them, obviously.
Getting enough of the Green Energy crystals is essential, though. You can find plenty of them while traveling the world on Vi-O-La
Why is Super Metroid trending 👀
32nd anniversary was last week. 😅
Maybe Samus is going to be in Super Mario Galaxy movie and will be voiced by Brie Larson.
Ik it probably won't happen but with we got the va from the games
Well don't forget!
Granted she is voicing Rosalina, but voice actors are known for doing more than one role. 🙂
Prime 1, right?
I think I have beaten Super... six times.
The count is high for me because I was timing myself for 100% speedruns.
(After all, once you've gotten the best ending, there's no challenge aside from beating your previous times.)
(What was the requirement for bikini Samus ending? Hour and a half?)
It's 2:30 I think.
I've done it before, but not at 100%.
Apparently, it's under three hours.
Unlike later games where there's differences in endings in low% and 100%
Zero Mission looks at both time and completion (15%, between 16 and 99, and 100%)
Fusion probably had something similar. I remember the GBA games being picky.
