I am on GTCEu Modern 1.4.1. I found out about the issue from using the coke oven.
I first tried using fluid pipes to get the creosote out. On 1.4.0 it worked flawlessly. Doesn't work on 1.4.1.
Second - when you use the barrel as a bucket - to scoop the fluid from the fluid tank inventory - it just voids it.
Don't know if it's some clashing between mods or something - can share my modlist if needed.

Also there's this weird graphical issue - the edges around the coke oven hatch look like glazed terracotta?
May be a problem on my side again with the mod clash.

Yes, just like a bucket.
And the oven also does not output the creosote out of the oven into the barrel. Do I need like a pump or something?

but again you're doing it from the GUI right, dragging the barrel and clicking on the tank in the controller to pull fluid

Yes, that is correct - same way as with the bucket. The barrel just empties the tank and the creosote is gone.
