Tips for lag mitigation in LVM clones

  • Try closing all apps, except the following:

    • the main Wrapper windows (browser, and CMD launcher, if applicable),
    • the browser window you use to access Wrapper if headless mode is off or if you chose to separately launch another browser for it (i.e. if you use W:Off 1.3.0 or below on 32-bit Windows and have to separately launch a compatible 32-bit browser).
    • any CMD windows associated with Wrapper, such as the NPM window if verbose mode is on, and;
    • your screen recorder app when recording
  • Try setting Quality to Medium (or Low on the video maker [NOT recommended on the player])

    • On Video Maker: Click the Settings icon on the top-right of the Video maker below the browser's title and address bars, then under Quality, select desired quality level
    • On Player: While the player itself is still loading (first progress bar), quickly right-click on the player page at the right time and find Quality. Under Quality, select Medium if you have to. If you only get a short menu without the quality options, reload the player and retry right-clicking at the right time.
  • Try decreasing your screen resolution before recording, or record in a smaller window.
    For instance, if your screen is FHD or 4K, try decreasing desktop resolution to 1280x720, or if making videos in 14:9 aspect ratio (isWide=0), if possible, use a custom resolution of 1120x720.
    You can also choose to resize the window instead of changing your desktop resolution.

    • Note for Windows 11 users: When recording from a window, snap the player window into a corner of the screen to bypass round corner cutouts. You may also use a 3rd party app to disable round corner cutouts.
  • In your screen recorder settings, try using a hardware accelerated encoder when available and possible, or try using a faster but less efficient codec, such as Xvid instead of H264. (You can transcode it to a more efficient codec in editing for final upload.)

  • Sign all other user accounts out (check Task Manager).

  • On a laptop, set battery plan to High performance, and/or plug in, especially when recording.

  • For a tiny FPS increase that's negligible but may matter with more intensive recorders, try forcing the browser you use to run Wrapper, or the Wrapper 2.0.0 executable, to use the dedicated GPU instead of the integrated GPU when applicable.
