#Stripe final experiences

could you share your experiences? i heard its kinda hard & they throw a lot on you
@slim belfry @vague hornet @frigid orbit congrats on ur offers!
is there anything you could share regarding this? how did u do so well
what was hard about it
u had it?
i thought there were multiple bugs
"How many bugs? I can’t tell you that (you’re not finding a million little bugs)"
"You’ll navigate a large codebase to spot (and fix!) bugs in the code."
these imply multiple bugs
i guess this doesn't really matter that much
i've been thinking that i would just go in, run the tests, see what doesn't work, and then bugs would be found quickly
lol i thought it couldve been a valid concern
it seems like this final will be pretty easy but u just have to be able to speak well
similar to the phone screen
although i felt i did terrible in that in terms of explanation
idk
paging successful people @slim belfry @vague hornet @frigid orbit
last time i pwomise
I think the final was pretty reasonable
One of those that you can't really prepare for though just gotta get a good nights sleep lol
i see i see. i didn't do that for phone so i'll be sure to do that hehe thank you
how many parts did you complete on the bug squash round? and in the other rounds?
i fucked the final cuz i was too nerves
i had a very ambiguous coding qn so it was weird to me, first time i got it wasnt expecting it
bug round just state ur hypothesis and the interviewer will try to help at times
integration was easy
@indigo seal have you heard back from Stripe after the onsite?
where did you hear that from? i never even applied
oh damn
i searched in 2022_grad_process for !process stripe and i thought i saw your name, maybe i got confused with someone else. my bad
i didn't do well on bug squash, only got thru 1 bug rip :/
integration and coding exercise were pretty positive tho I think
we'll see what happens
@ashen heath have you gotten a manager chat?
there were multiple bugs?
gl
I just had onsite a few hours ago
There were 4 bugs, but you’re not expected to find all of them
I think 2 would’ve been solid. Idk what the avg is
@brisk zealot the difficulty of the bugs I’m sure is also not the exact same across interviews
I assumed it would be the same, since you're working in a large codebase & i assume they wouldn't wanna put in all that work to make different versions for interviewees
i guess it's not that hard to make variations since you're just creating some bugs
have u heard things from ppl that make you think its different across interviews?
i guess it doesn't really matter that much
i mean all it takes is one wrong variable or line to create a bug that can take forever to track down
i guess I don't want to say too much but from my experience it seems like there can be many different versions of bugs you need to track down. i don't know if some are harder than others but I'd assume so
as a data point, i found the first bug during the last minute of our session (so I didn't have time to fix it) and still passed
holy shit
yeah that makes sense
omg you're giving me hope thank you 🙏
thats definitely true, i feel like i find bugs really quickly but maybe im just going to get shit on
i guess i will just see
when's your final? @fierce ledge
bugs in your own code or in code worked on by dozens of people that you were just introduced to a few minutes prior?
I wish Stripe hadn’t given me a manager chat, given that they’ll reject me anyway
yea lol the former
well that's a lot different
cuz you wrote everything yourself and you know how everything works
understanding other people's code especially in such a short amount of time is way different
yeah definitely i don't think my skill with smaller, familiar codebases will mean much
i think people will tons of large open source projects experience will be good
i guess more specifically im counting reading code fast & connecting stuff
oh yea i bet so
cuz you'd constantly be looking at large codebases and connecting the dots
i mean it's totally possible that you'll find it not that bad
i personally feel like it's a challenging thing to be able to do tho
i get ya, hopefully it goes well
