#what was the process like? for new grad

I had one phone interview and then an on-site with 3 interviews
Mostly system-related questions, very open ended not like leetcode tricks
Definitely my favorite interview process, it was mostly focused on like making clean code and less on like meeting some runtime
I’m from CMU, interned at FB and google in the past
OP
can you elaborate on what you mean by "system related"
did you get the decision on the day of?
Yea I got it right after all my interviews, I hadn’t left the call yet
Like the questions were basically like “here is some class / system we want, figure out design and implement it” rather than “create algo to solve problem”. The way to approach the problems was pretty open ended I feel, many different ways to do it
None of my questions were at all leetcode related
interesting... you mention class does that mean you can use OOP in the interview? I hear they OCaml / functional paradigm so just curious
Yea all my interview sort of ended up using a class to structure it, but like I said it was really free form, u could just make a bunch of functions instead but I liked to make use of storing variables in self
U don’t have to be functional at all
would u say its on the same level of difficulty as the phone?
They were a bit more involved but roughly same difficulty I’d say
i can't believe they tell you right then and there, i'm surprised it doesn't go through a hiring committee for robustness
So after my third interview they put me in a q&a session for like 30 mins
I think they were discussing it then
Also had lunch break after 2nd interview so maybe they met then idk
