#Amazon vs Viasat
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
but
i would be kind and say take Amazon

anw, based on ur priority, take Viasat, push Zon to Fall
would i actually have the leverage to push zon to fall?
you should try
tbh best is do both
see what you like
it's internship at the end; not ft yet
honestly pushing zon to fall if i can do that actually might be the best of both worlds for me, but i assume i'll have to skip a semester unless i can somehow convince zon to do remote for me lol
u got zon offer?

not at all
supzon calm down
plz bro

u got zon @bright linden ?
see i actually feel so bad cause if i choose viasat i feel like im giving up an offer so many people would kill for
like my brains telling me take zon u idiot but my hearts saying i'll be happy at viasat
no no, that's people problem, not yours
but the thing is
lol fr
think about tradeoff
i would take viasat
i gave my thought based on what you want
do u guys acc know viasat cause usually many people dont and i gotta explain it to them
personally, if i MUST choose, i would go ZON
i know, it's a satellite company ?
yea lol im surprised
maybe u can pivot from Viasat to SpaceX ?
that was my goal tbh
work few years in viasat, then if i ever wanna pivot i'll be headhunted by spacex, amazon leo, etc
yea, do both
like aerospace stuff

i'll do remote from mars
anw, try push
i'll honestly see if pushing my grad date from spring 27 to fall 28 could actually work without conflicting with return offers and stuff
but i agree with you, recruiting is bad now
ye this is quite important
so unless u can put up another fight
or want to
that's also a consideration if you go zon
like even my friend knew a guy who interned at google, his entire team got 0 return offers and now hes working at all state insurance
you can write out the tradeoff and decide
if it was a fulltime 100% amazon but fr its just 12 weeks even my parents were like dont focus on pay focus on what it does for ur career
lowkey i think the answer here is amazon no questions asked
like lets say u intern at amazon but ur just so behind all ur other coworkers, do they just kick u out or worst case no return offer
nah amazon hires a lot of bums
as i said, choose your fight,
- viasat gives you better security not that good salary
- zon gives you better salary and learning - aka hard stuff, no security for ro
honestly another part of me was thinking i do viasat for summer, and if i thrist for faang or big tech, just apply for new grad roles knowing i have a safety net
ok hypothetically i get no return offer like guaranteed none. is it still worth to do amazon purely just for the resume name?
Yes viasat is buns ft
uhave to be so incompetent to not get ro
U can do both if u want and it don’t rlly mess w grad date but zon internship to ro is pretty free anyway
tbh im not sure if i can even do both cause i assume they base internships on specific team needs and the managers, it wouldnt hurt to ask tho that'd be best case
@unborn creek did viasat last year so can vouch for the experience, its a ton of fun and a good work enviornment and they treat employees well. not crazy company for growth or tc but if you want that enviornment its great
i accepted viasat so i'd have to renege, amazon expires later next week
omg wait can i dm u?
sure
i'll try
zon has a high return rate
r u concerned about layoffs?
also ye push to fall, lotta ppl did
apparently i checked my offer packet, it says your offer is only valid for the internship season (summer, fall, winter) and year you interviewed for. im not sure if i should still bother to ask for a deferral or just let go of it
if ur gonna choose viasat ask for push, otherwise ye j stick with zon summer
what does that mean
u don't even read what they do at Viasat heh ?
obviously not crudbob but also not ml/ai also
bro it is crudbob
I worked as an mle at Viasat last summer 🫩
why would you assume you're not getting a return offer at Amazon? a good majority of interns get the return offer.
zon ro was pretty high last year, i dont see any reason why it wouldnt be this year
