velvet mortar
#

i woke up this morning with an email saying interview tomorrow 😭

prisma grove
#

That’s what happened to me yesterday morning

velvet mortar
#

Thats wild

#

Alr just to make sure cuz im a little incredulous:
Both interviews were fully behavioral?

prisma grove
#

Where’s urs at

#

Yeah both were

#

I thought I’d get a technical but ig not, tho I had that for my internship as well

velvet mortar
#

Cool cool thanks bro

#

Im lowell too

prisma grove
#

Hope to see you there

velvet mortar
#

u too man

keen wyvern
#

WOW

#

okok

#

To prepare, we recommend reviewing core technical fundamentals, practicing basic algorithms or coding challenges, and revisiting any academic or personal projects that showcase your skills and how you approach technical tasks.

#

Did you guys happen to get this sane scheduling email

#

@velvet mortar how was round1? Or did you not have it yet

#

Im just scared of getting a technical just because they mention it in the listing

#

And whod u guys interview with? A manager or an engineer

velvet mortar
#

barely technical

velvet mortar
#

it was a very chill interview

keen wyvern
#

Just like asking about your projects?

#

Or like conceptual

#

And rest behavioral?

velvet mortar
#

first part was an resume walkthrough
second part was a behavioral question (like what would you do in XYZ situation / tell me about a time where you were in ABC situation, what did you do)
then i got the programming problem
then yea i asked the interviewer a few questions

keen wyvern
#

Wow ok thanks man

#

Appreciate all the help

velvet mortar
#

No problem brother make sure to pass on the favor 🙏

prisma grove
#

Huh I didn’t get any programming problem

#

@velvet mortar @keen wyvern y’all’s are for the software developer position?

keen wyvern
#

Ya entry level sde

#

Mines for san jose austin tho

velvet mortar
#

Yeah me too entry level software developer

prisma grove
#

Yeah alr

#

I had high hopes earlier for getting the offer but I’m seeing other people saying they felt good too and I’m stressing a lot now

#

😭

velvet mortar
#

Do yk if its in person or remote
The job title says hybrid

prisma grove
#

Mines in person I’m pretty sure

velvet mortar
#

The eng that interviewed me said I might end up on his team and he lives in my state

#

I dont live in MA

prisma grove
#

Ig hybrid maybe a lil def not remote

velvet mortar
#

Hmm true

prisma grove
#

Alr I’m in MA

velvet mortar
#

home court advantage

prisma grove
#

I hope lol 😭

#

How was ur r2?

velvet mortar
#

Not scheduled yet

#

Interviewer said hed put in his feedback, then if I move on to the next round theyll ask the manager thats supposed to interview me for availability

prisma grove
#

Oh ok

#

How was ur r1

velvet mortar
#

Super chill

#

The programming problem was simple enough

prisma grove
#

That’s good

One of my close friends is in a PM slack p similar to this and they were showing me the amount of IBM offers for PM that were given out and it was definitely pretty high so Im just assuming that the SWE hc is larger than pm

Did anyone hear back after r2? Finished mine 2 weeks ago

prisma grove
prisma grove
#

Mine told me 7-10 days but I suspect around 2 weeks or more

quiet summit
#

@velvet mortar did you get scheduled yet for r2?

turbid coyote
#

Damn, I got my r1 on the 4th of Feb

#

Hopefully it's behavorial (entry sde based in Austin)

#

Any of y'all think blind 75 is enough for this in case I am asked technical?

high sluice
#

*We’re excited to move forward with your Entry Level Hire interview process. In this first round, the team will focus primarily on your technical expertise. You can expect questions related to programming fundamentals, problem-solving approaches, and your understanding of key concepts in your preferred language or technologies.

To prepare, we recommend reviewing core technical fundamentals, practicing basic algorithms or coding challenges, and revisiting any academic or personal projects that showcase your skills and how you approach technical tasks.

Wishing you the best of luck — you’ve got this! Here are some materials about IBM and IBM Technologies that you can use to prepare yourself: *

Could be lc or cs trivia, intv proc is not standard

turbid coyote

But, I am assuming everyone gets this same message, but questions asked during interviews could be different from one another

Representing over 320,000 square feet, the move is IBM’s latest addition to its Austin real estate portfolio following the termination of its lease as the anchor tenant of OneTerra, a 500,000 square-foot office project in The Domain.

turbid coyote
#

How much leetcode have y'all done?

frank path
#

Not much, I heard it's mainly bqs.

turbid coyote
#

I've only done the blind 75. I am just trying to guage where others are at

quiet summit
# velvet mortar u?

i was rejected after r1, entire interview was system design and a leetcode easy at the end, no behavioral or resume review. interviewer was giving me pretty good signs and told me hr would reach out for r2 but ig not LOL

high sluice

turbid coyote

ah, that is comforting to hear

#

Knowing my luck, they are going to ask me some crazy ass leetcode hard

#

5 mins for solution

#

Offer = no

quiet summit
#

i think he js ran out of time tho

turbid coyote
#

jkjkjk

#

So, it was mostly behavioral for your experience

#

also, I'm sorry you got rej

#

it doesn't make sense why they did, but who knows how they make these decisions 🤷‍♂️

#

Hey guys I just went through the entry level SWE for Lowell, MA interviews. I had two, and they both were completely behavioral with no coding interviews at all. I expected coding interviews, but both were behavioral style with technical questions regarding resume experience. I have not received any update since the second interview (its been 5 days). Does anyone know what the next steps are? Are there more interviews?

frank path
#

I had a friend still waiting for r2 since his r1 in mid December.

random robin
#

they scheduled my interview before i even submitted the info form lmao

#

i got an email for the info torm

#

then i was invited to the first interview

frank path
random robin
#

and r2 happened a week after

frank path
#

I know another friend who got both round in one day, and got an offer like 1-2 weeks after.

#

You should follow up with the recruiter if have direct contact.

random robin
#

oh really?

#

two interviews only with no coding?

#

thats crazy

random robin
frank path
random robin
#

mine was both pure behavioral

#

the first interview said at the end to expect coding challenge on the next interview

#

but the next interview was completely behaviorial so i was confused lol

frank path
random robin
#

ikr

#

i woke up and had two emails

#

one for info and the other telling me the interview day and time

turbid coyote
#

What kind of questions did they ask?

random robin
#

resume questions

#

a bunch of them

#

asked for technical details for experiences

#

and the rest was grinding "tell me about a time when..."

high sluice
# random robin asked for technical details for experiences

did they ask questions more like "how did you build this task?" or like "I see you used Docker in this project can you answer these random trivia questions about Docker?" or like "Can you regurgitate the syntax for these CSS properties?" smt like that?

random robin
#

they were specific enough to ask you what exactly you did but they didnt ask for your CS knowledge

#

basically your answers set up the follow ups

#

if you answer too technically i guess the follow ups might become more technical

high sluice
#

makes sense, most companies seem to be like that, only one ive had thats super anal is zon

random robin
#

also the whole process is so weird at ibm

#

some got coding questions some didnt

high sluice
#

sounds like its loc based?

#

you were lowell ma?

random robin
#

yea

#

i dont think its loc based

high sluice
#

guys above w sysdesign were san jose

random robin
#

my two interviewers were from diff offices

high sluice
#

oh wait true

random robin
#

system design is crazy

#

new grad sys design shouldnt be a thing

high sluice
#

yeah just oop

random robin
#

i got rejected from together ai cuz of that 🙂

high sluice
#

companies that ask entry level sysdesign are looking for experienced engineers at junior pay

random robin
#

tru

#

whens your interview scheduled

high sluice
#

this week

#

for atx

#

my interviewer is based in atx too

#

but like you said that prob doesnt make a difference lol

random robin
#

yea my r2 interviewer was in austin

#

he asked a ton of questions but was prettyt chill

#

he even turned his camera around and literally gave me a tour of the office floor he was in lol

high sluice
#

literally got an office tour

#

thats funny tho bc you weren't interviewing for that loc 😂

random robin
#

ikr

high sluice
#

do they get free food

random robin
#

idk

high sluice
#

or did the building look super chopped

random robin
#

he said though for austin

#

theyre moving to a new building

#

u shld go look at lowell office

high sluice
#

dang i can smell the free food already

random robin
#

it looks hella chopped

#

looks like a hospital

high sluice
#

bro why are they in lowell and not in boston

random robin
#

idek

high sluice
#

ig its like their hq is in armonk instead of nyc

#

temu suburbs

random robin
#

i rly dont wanna go there tbh

#

but i dont have choice in this beautiful job market

high sluice
#

i mean lowell is commutable from boston still tho right

random robin
#

i think so

#

but im so confused about this whole interview process

#

ive never talked to a recruiter

#

only received one-way interview invitations

high sluice
#

oh i got one cc'd on my gcal invite

random robin
#

without time coordination from my side

#

lmao

high sluice
#

yeah lmao no schedule confirmation just schedule forced

random robin
#

its so weird

#

like during r1

#

my interviewer was in lowell office

#

he said after this round you will get coding challenge

#

then i receive gcal invite the next day for r2 interviews

#

and says that its behavorial

high sluice
#

lmao they prob gave you the same interview twice

random robin
#

and my r2 interviewer literally assumed i alr took coding

#

i have no idea

random robin
#

during the email invite it said congrats on passing first round. the next will be behavorial

#

hellaa confused

high sluice
#

mine says this

#

technical

#

oh well

#

gl on the offer prayge

random robin
#

Wait r u getting into r2

#

Or r1

frank path
#

I think the mess is from they recently moved their hr to brazil.

#

And system design is crazy, I wouldn't expect it at places like IBM unless it is FAANG

frank path
remote spoke
#

for ibm ng, did they mention any start date?

high sluice
turbid coyote
#

Does anyone know who I should message for rescheduling? I emailed the "event organizers", both of the interviewers, and declined the invitation to interview with a message for rescheduling 😭 I have not heard anything back.

zealous cave
#

Has anyone heard back after r2? Its been almost 4 weeks for me

#

what loc are you

prisma grove
#

damn i had my r2 2 weeks ago

random robin
#

I had r2 a week ago for lowell i guess im gonna have to wait longer lol

prisma grove
#

i've prayed hard but i've never prayed this long before

high sluice
#

was ur r2 with a hiring manager? maybe they’re trying to team match everyone at the same time

zealous cave
#

Not sure if it was hm but it was a swe manager

#

Could be theyre still interviewing and waiting for everyone to finish

high sluice
#

yeah if so ig that’d be kinda weird tho if they draw this out until like march and expect everyone to renege their prevs

frank path
#

I think they want to wrap up with intern first, given ng can start latter

#

I got a friend still waiting for r2 since r1 in late nov

prisma grove
#

i'm p sure my r2 was a swe manager too

Atp this is a cruel joke

high sluice
#

thats kind of weird tho, like if they were waiting to get a HC of say 200, then how would they randomly choose 200 out of 500 applicants they are interviewing, esp considering that the interview was all behavioral 😭

#

wtv might as well just fly to brazil and find the rec's house atp

zealous cave
#

Beats me

prisma grove
#

I’m at 4 weeks after r2

prisma grove
#

I just got sent a form to fill out asking about my citizenship

zealous cave
#

Weird i thought I filled that out before I got my r1

prisma grove
#

I got the offer!

high sluice
#

LFG dude 🔥

zealous cave

Congrats! Is this for lowell?

high sluice

holy cow ibm is slower than my brute force leetcode solutions

#

when’s ur start date?

prisma grove
#

Thank you guys ❤️

#

I am going to be in Lowell, MA

#

Start date July 20

prisma grove
#

Barely

#

After r1 I emailed the interviewer a thank you

#

I had my r2 almost exactly a month ago

#

And two days ago I sent a follow up email to my interviewer and recruiter asking about the process and I got it today

#

Not sure if that was correlated or not, but guess it didn’t hurt 🤷‍♂️

glad sage
#

what were your recruiter initials?

#

I’m Lowell too

frank path

Congrats

prisma grove
#

Thanks!

waxen wigeon
#

R2 was 4 weeks for me

prisma grove

I’d keep a lookout 👀 but it might vary per person

i might hit ur move in a week or two
