in finance, the engineers are second class citizens compared to quant/traders. finance as an industry in general is up or out. so if you dont get that analyst -> associate promo by end of year 2/3 then you will be a likely candidate for layoff. also in general for fintech you need to make sure youre on a revenue generating team. i worked at GS as SWE just my two cents
