imo u should not just be a regular swe like most cs kids, u gotta do research and get involved in a niche like ML or low level systems. take the hardest cs classes ur uni has to offer for the learning but also networking with other people and profs.

i had 2 F500 internships (solid names but nowhere near faang level lmao), open source project, and 3 random projects

good. i got mine through participating in class and attending every office hour in person (actually needed to cus class was hard lmaoo) . then the prof knew me and i applied to his research position and he selected me without even an interview

u can also jsut catch professors after classes and stuff and ask

or cold email from ur school email

but mostly u gotta find something u genuinely enjoy within CS. imo everyone should be really good with low level systems and ML cus that pays the big bucks with HFTs and ig ML is the future

nah that won’t matter too much. just get close to a prof in class and ask for research from him or her or if he could recommend u to another prof in ur uni. if u show u care, that goes a long way tbh
