Make sure you know your resume in and out and just be very personable! Ask questions and show that you’re genuinely interested!
Thanks for the advice!
Ofc, when is EM scheduled for?
it's on Jan 7th
Ah ok good luck
all the dates until mid jan was available when i selected the time slots
how was the interview for you?
i think it went really well!!
my interviewer was really nice
it was purely resume stuff
why i did certain things, how i interacted in team dynamics
what decisions i made and argued for and how i approached it
was very behavioral
aww cute
I see. Thank you!
But that’s supposedly not the norm
Expect to go into more technical depth
resume drill and a system design question related to my past project
started with intros, then started the resume grill. he started asking me about my internship and what i did. he quite literally asked about every single technology on my bullet points under my internship. then dug deeper into it. asked about how it was designed, why certain technologies were used, what certain technologies do, why i made certain decisions, how i took feedback, and really tested for technical depth. then he did the same for my research project. asked about what my contributions were, how it works, etc etc
after doing a lot of research about em rounds, and going through one myself, i can definitively say that what they look for most is deep technical understanding, being able to talk about choices and tradeoffs, and being responsive to criticism. i also think having really strong answers for "why bloomberg" and "why cs" are really important. i saw how much they value culture, and how broadly they are interviewing. kind of safe to assume that they interview so broadly because they're looking for people who are both technical, and also align in personality
