I was looking for some advice as I’m not too knowledgeable about recruiting as a whole. Was wondering what you guys would choose in this situation and why?

Principal Financial Group SWE Intern

Likely insurance-related

KPMG SWE Intern

Tax Technology

My thoughts are that KPMG is definitely more well-known, but my main concern is that it would be viewed negatively when I recruit next year for swe/qd since the company isn’t very technically interesting/advanced.

I don’t care about pay or location at all this summer, and my only goal is to build the best possible resume for junior summer recruiting (aiming for FAANG+ SWE or QD).

Also possibly of relevance, my other procs that I fumbled this year (so I’m pretty sure my resume is not currently holding me back):

Optiver QT Final
PDT Partners SWE VO
Palantir FDSE VO
PayPal SWE Final

idk what principal finance group is but I know KPMG work is dull

I believe principal will be java springboot if placed on backend and prob react js if frontend

Not too sure about the stack for kpmg tho

If it says anything tho, my interviewer kept referring about how they “use the latest and greatest technologies”

I think they have some migration teams or teams in general that work with react next etc.

I'm not sure the value of principal in terms of name, and that's hard to weigh out but team wise definitely take java spring boot
