#series a $30 mil 400k tc
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
is there a renege clause
US$300k cash is already very good for being fresh out of university
1/10 ragebait
keep recruiting
only detail u have give is the tc, what do you want ppl to tell here
odds are theyre not gonna dig through linkedin and find ur founders post
nobody can say for sure without knowing what ur alternatives to the startup are or what the startup is man
it would all be hypothetical guesses
at which point you might as well just ask GPT for its opinion
as an international and with how theyre saying to stop recruiting this would scare me
ii would sign it but keep recruiting lmfao
they cant stop u
how r tghey gonna know
theyre not gonna know
what in the fuck
as long as you have paystubs to prove it
Y Combinator shouldn't be taken seriously at this point
aren't they well connected tho
crowd of desperate pigs wanting to be founders
i feel like this isn't true but situational fs
the reason why you prob got the offer was because someone else recommended you
i think it's true for sure
startup space is pretty small
if the alternative in this situation is big tech idt it would matter
renege or perform badly, you're cooked
idk bro
i guess what you could do
is accept and just live with the risk of reneging
gl this situation is rough
im not sure actually
no?
why would they give up good talent because some random founder has a vendetta against u
why would openai do anything to you
and if the alternative to startup is openai im sure theyd just congratulate u and move on
its the industry
in my experience u just email and say u found an opportunity somewhere else and will be accepting that instead
obviously dont renege like 3 days before ur start date
but i think its fine to keep recruiting rn for u
can also ask for extension on offer timeline to decide
until u finish those procs
mayb they want you to work immediately?
idk but its a red flag
idk this startup has power on you
it's not good
they're in charge of your immigration process right?
ye im not familiar with this stuff
gl with this
I'm not sure this is the person I would trust with immigration matters
ask for 400 if they give just sign i'm ngl
sketch as an intl is bad
like if i was a us citizen i wouldnt worry abt this but like if u get fucked u r fucked
I'm not sure anyone can stop you from negotiating with it, although I don't understand why you are forced to go public on Linkedin
I'd have to know more details though. Search firms have put a handful of startups, at various phases, in front of me
Maybe I've seen the same one you are talking about
I wouldn’t be so specific on how much they raised lol doubtful founder is in here tho
I would j leave out anything that makes it too obvious
Like how much they raised and employee count already tells you what the company name is
decently hard imo
theres many startups
ur ok
i get reached out to by a random startup that had 20-40 mill series a every couple days
ya
this is my opinion so take with a grain of salt but basically:
I don't like their attitude. Recruiting after you get an offer is actually perfectly ok. Renegening is also okay but situational. I have renegd amazon and gotten amazon offer down the line. It's harder with smaller companies esp if uk the ppl personally.
If you are in late stages with other companies tell the other companies to speed up and push for a couple more days from startup.
The offer itself is really great and way above average for new grad. It depends what you are trying to optimize for.
but if their attitude is to be this pushy its a bit of a turn off personally if you think you might have more options
its also just a signal to how working with this particular founder might be like.
I kind of fucked up my last recruiting cycle and ignored a red flag. If he's this pushy about you joining the team, what else might he be pushy about when you work on a day to day basis
obv we lack context though but just make sure to think about it
with startups you are working with the set of 10 ppl like everyday for a while. You'd wanna really like them, and trust them
So this is 100% giga right lmao. If so, don’t feel bad about reneging based on the controversy over on twitter
