use the latex tech resume template and make it one page only

Hey, thanks for your reply. I have also done that, but it's useless. By the way, I have used the Deedy resume reversed format in Overleaf. After that, I have contacted some career resources people, who said it will be very difficult for people to read after that. I have changed into this format

yeah i agree with @rigid gulch. one page MAX. you could also use Jake’s resume template. i’m reallyyyy not a fan of this one that you’re using. i have also posted other resume templates in this channel before but you’d probably have to search and use the discord filters to find them because i don’t feel like posting them again

#

Education section should only have your bachelors and master degree

#

you can remove the profile section along with that title under your full name

#

don’t need the “Modules” tbh. only use if you need more space to fill in your resume, and if so then it should be 2 lines of courses MAX. and rename to “Relevant Courses” or “Relevant Coursework” instead of “Modules”

#

don’t bold anything in your bullet points

#

formatting of your overall resume is realllyyy off, but using the template i recommended will fix most of your current problems

#

put location of your positions… again, this will be fixed if you use the template recommended

#

rename your internships section to Experience and technology skills to just Skills or Technical Skills… again, all of this can easily be fixed if you just use the template recommended 😭

You don’t need to describe your technical skills with sentences or bullets, just list them. Using the recommended template will help you with that. It’s a good example already of how to format that kind of section

#

that resume isn’t good either

#

2 columns is not good

#

especially when they’re so close together

#

other things wrong with the formatting of it

earnest echo
#

how can i put my entire main things into single page

#

I mean, on one page and one column

ornate mango
#

well many of the stuff you have in there is not needed

#

get rid of the leetcode achievement

#

read my other feedback above

earnest echo
#

Can you tell me what those things are

ornate mango
#

you don’t need all of those projects. put 2 or 3 of your most impressive projects

earnest echo
#

i mean leetcode is an acheivement only no

ornate mango
#

i’m sorry but i am not going to review two of your resumes

#

that would take too much of my time

#

so im mainly going to give feedback on the first that you posted

earnest echo
#

That's not an issue, but can you tell why leetcode is not an achievement and btw thanks for your feedback, I will definitely modify my resume according to it

ornate mango
#

it is an achievement

#

but recruiters will not care

#

most likely

#

they care about your previous work experience out of everything

#

so listing that is wasting valuable space that you can use elsewhere

#

also you have publications which is cool so i recommend making a separate section for that

#

or just putting a few in your Experience section

earnest echo
#

I mean, some people say DSA matter most, no

#

Use Jake's template

ornate mango
#

yeah please just use it

earnest echo
#

yeah sure thank you every one

ornate mango
#

also do not start bullet points with “I…”

earnest echo
#

First, I made my resume like that, but my college people said that you should start with the First person like that

ornate mango
#

in total you should probably just have 4 sections: Education, Experience, Projects, Skills.

and optionally a separate section to briefly mention your publications or something like that if you have extra space

ornate mango
#

most recommend starting with a strong action verb

#

i would not take their advice on that

No summaru

ornate mango
#

many will not read it

#

i want to give feedback to others now. bye 👋 ❤️

also probably use chatgpt to help with fixing your resume. because i can’t say everything 😭

echo temple
#

The problem is gpt is suggesting generic statements if I want to concise which is making my resume look identical to 1000s who use the same gpt

ornate mango
echo temple
#

How do I make it real and concise then ffs

earnest echo
#

so, at last my projects, education, and achievements should be there in my resume, that's it, no and it should be in single pge

And also many are using AI for auto applying and if I’m 10mins late to the job posting I’m behind 500 already lol

ornate mango
#

you need a good prompt

ornate mango
ornate mango
#

wdym? you should prioritize those sections that i told you

#

recruiters on average spend less than 10 seconds looking at a resume

earnest echo
#

yeah okay situation is too bad to get an internship also 😢

ornate mango
#

they will mainly only care about your previous relevant work experience and check your education section to see if you’re eligible for the role (basic grad date / major requirements)

ornate mango
#

you have good stuff to put down

#

it’s just the way that you’re presenting the information. you need a good resume

earnest echo
#

i have been applying to data science-related jobs only, but still they are rejecting me

earnest echo
echo temple
#

Fix your resume and keep applying

ornate mango
#

but you also need a good resume

#

your current one is only hurting you

echo temple
#

Try doing some really cool e2e projects , deploy them and post it out publicly on LinkedIn

ornate mango
#

applying early with a good resume will increase your chances

earnest echo
echo temple
#

The FT market is very bad as well, getting an internship and converting that is your best shot

echo temple
#

And also depends on luck

#

Fix your resume apply early get consistent with apps

#

That’s what we can do

ornate mango
#

finding an internship that has good full time RO rate

earnest echo
#

What are your thoughts on networking events? Is it worth giving a shot

ornate mango
#

yeah you can try

echo temple
#

Yh I’ve given G and zon loops recently the bar is pretty brutal rn

ornate mango
#

i don’t tho

echo temple
#

Outside of your uni attend hackathons instead of just networking events

#

Some startups host hackathons and if they like your projects they call you for an interview directly

earnest echo
#

but i am not that good at building projects. Most of my projects are not completly done by me

echo temple
#

Start doing it

#

It’s not that hard learning and building in this gpt era

#

You just need to dedicate some time

earnest echo
#

And I also think I don't have that much potential to build a project i have been doing it with the help of internet GPT, YouTube and my friends

#

thank you very much for your guidance, guys. I hope everyoe will get a job asap

#

And one last question, how are you guys applying for jobs
I think I am using all major sites, and I am also applying through the company website.

ornate mango
#

that’s what im doing to

#

good luck
