Like ppl have offered to interview me/directly connect me, but I said idk yet
Wow! What do you think is special about your background that has people reaching out to you directly?
Idk really tbh, I think I just meet ppl, talk about the projects I work on and then somehow it relates to a specific team
By meet ppl do you mean at events or do you just do hella coffee chats?
Both, mostly events though
damn. I gotta start actually going to stuff
Most times I never actually ask for a ref though, they usually offer if we have a good convo
I try to only put effort into things I'll actually like
valid, they probably appreciate the genuine conversation as opposed to the desperation most people approach with
lets be honest they can smell it from a mile away
really cool man, thanks for the info
Lmao yeah, I think asking basic questions like what do you like etc are so overdone
its funny cuz a good engineer delves much deeper than surface level yet that is what everyone starts with in conversation
although with the scale of applicants it does make sense that people dont want to commit too much time to each interaction
hard balance to find tbh
Yeah, usually I do a good amt of research on the team, etc, and try to bring that to the convo
I'm gonna try that. recently I've been focusing on reaching out to engineers directly on linkedin and asking to chat cuz talking to HR gets you nowhere
Plaid is fine
Compared to everything else, does it have the same hmmph value as Uber for example?
Uber is better but plaid is a good internship
Yeah, ig I don't feel like continuing the rec cycle rn
Maybe I could push Uber to winter, idk how doable that it
go with plaid you’ll be able to recruit at a lot of places new grad
Idk what to tell the others, like I literally did an interview this morning w/Talos and BB called me yesterday
I don't wanna disappoint them and say no
Don’t forget me when you’re rich @heavy hound
how long did it take for you to hear back from plaid?
Lmao I'm finna tag you 🥰
1 wk
Plaid vs keep recruiting for summer 2026
How was ur round 1 can I dm?
Rd 1 was very pragmatic coding, like thing abt building something to do something, not the typical LC style
Fwiw, you don't have to get a perfect/solve all parts, although in my case it definitely helped a lot cuz they followed up next day, Plaid really cares abt if you show aptitude
I think I/others posted a bit abt what type of questions to expect, but if you truly have questions that you can't find the answer to sure, although I'm not gonna js give out the question outta fairness (and I signed NDA) for others
