#google vs databricks (hypo)

Talent density is higher, comp is slightly better.
I still think there’s a ton of things Google has going for it that you don’t find at Databricks
I would agree w this
Google benefits r unmatched by any other company in tech ngl
and WLB is reportedly p good at Google and reportedly not great at DB
though obv it all depends on team
so depends on where u would want to end up NG
imo I think it is more difficult to go to DB from Google than the other way around
but u should pick the place that u would like to end up the most full time
it’s closer than ppl here would have u believe
Even the most hardcore teams at Google aren’t working over 50 hours a week and ppl never work weekends
But in general here are the pros and cons of working at Google w.r.t.:
Pros: benefits and amenities (bf/lunch/dinner 5x a week, 401k match, mega backdoor 401k, snack bar on every office floor, communities, fitness, gyms, massages, etc).
Wlb: the often cited “Googlers work 20 hrs a week” has a little bit of truth to it. Many people come to the office at 10 and leave by 4.
Products/teams: team tbh doesn’t really too much at Google because there is usually a wide amount of scope in each org/team and you can easily transfer teams or orgs at Google. I’d say half of the ppl I’ve met so far have worked at different orgs at Google
Cons:
- work is usually pretty nice
- talent density at dbx is higher and ppl are more ambitious
- dbx has less variety of scope but you work on more comprehensive projects
Bk I thought u didn’t have a job lol
Wab google?
You’ll prob get an ro
Sure but generally Google is pretty chill
Compared to 996 at dbx
Which YT team?
So I know which one to join
Noted I wanna transfer to yt ads
I need 60 hr/week workweeks
Thanks
I just think my team
Most are kinda lazy
might be my paranoia talking but i would be wary of db
them hiring like crazy this yr + potential of ai bubble popping might be the perfect storm for bad RO rates
i'd go google here
Yea
