#dbx vs stripe
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
observability is not a bad space to be in..?
i mean
i think you will not be passionate for the majority of teams at db
and stripe
do you know what most of them do? it's usually boring shit
tyshi
i like functional programming
i actually hate using python
i mean me too
but using it in prod is a nightmare
im mostly meming -- i think db is generally a better place to be at than stripe tho
orz
Probably databricks
I think dbx has slightly better brand name but it's closer than ppl think it is
stripe is probably more well known than dbx generally
Can I OE with stripe
Im gonna be on the same team next year for ng, dm me I talked to an engineer and it seems the internal perspective is quite positive and i had most of my concerns about being on observability (i.e. second class team) alleviated
they said rust for new components so im happy now xd
i was told at brickfest and when talking with the runtime obs manager before taking the offer
that they're moving scala -> java (because the scala ecosystem is weak) and new components are generally in rust
i was told that the scala specifically was getting ported because java ecosystem is better
and that new stuff is like supposed to be in either java/rust
and rust when possible
ðŸ˜
i was writing rust at roblox last summer (crazy pull because there is like one team that has a huge rust codebase and thats it) and that was a great time
love writing rust
i was on infra > storage > data access
but if you talk to someone at roblox
mention "entities as as service"
and they'll know
yeah basically
sick LMFAO
yeah i think our EM is from meta
i feel there may have been some inspiration there
it was fun though
wrote rust c# and go
yep
LMFAO
this thread is a ridiculous pull for me
wait do u mind if i dm
go for it!
