Hello Everyone! Wanted to give back and share how I secured Duolingo and Microsoft offer for this season.

I became a member of ColorStack earlier this year, and it completely changed how I approached internship season. At first, I was just attending random events to see what ColorStack did, but I ended staying for the mock interviews, company chats, and resume sessions. Everybody was really chill and helpful, and just chatting with other students going through the process made a significant impact.

A few months later I began receiving interview requests, first Duolingo. The first interview round had me solve a LeetCode question, #674 (Longest Continuous Increasing Subsequence). I received a partial solution and introduced my logic and time complexity, O(n). The next interview round was more around how I would build small app features and think through design decisions. I then interviewed with Microsoft and they presented me with #349 (Intersection of Two Arrays). I used sets and talked through why I ran the time complexity at O(n + m), which seemed to make the interviewer happy with my explanation. Toward the end, both companies asked a few behavioral questions as well, more specifically mentioning my experiences with being underrepresented in tech; and how that's reflected in my approach towards teamwork, and problem solving. I found that those behavioral experiences were equally as important to address compared to the technical.

I would say don't worry about LeetCode, I'm in my last year and have solved only within 35-50 questions, it's not better than learning real engineering skills
