#Uber SWE vs Palantir FDSE
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Uber is the obvious choice the fuck?
It's more so what does Palantir FDSE exit opportunities look like?
if u want to get into startups or vc its insane
But you can go into startups from uber SWE tho
if you want to stay in ic roles in tech stick w swe
what do fdses actually do
bunch of consulting + vibe coding bullshit
do u think switching back to SWE if I wanted to after a year would be possible?
well fdse is ppl facing
but how much do u care about the distinction
b/w fdse and see
SWE
but like I still want the opportunity to switch into engineering manager/product management in the future. I guess I am just worried about palantir being too much consulting and not find any jobs after i leave.
bc like they r like oh he doesn't have any tech experience anymore
btw its uber RO
I should have specified
Palantir is very consulting heavy
plus a lot of ppl go from senior eng to engineering manager
uber feels obvious here tbh
no chance op cleared delta process and doesnt know what the role looks like lol
I do know what it looks like bruh
I know exactly what the role is
I just can't find literally anything about what people do after palantir FDSE
like there are no posts about what people do after 😭
do u want to be a ceo someday
Bullshitting VCs into giving you millions of dollars
so p much if I am not interested in startups take uber?
what do u want billy
I want to be EM or like a somewhat technical PM in 5 years and i'd be happy
if ur not interested in startups why wouldn’t u just do traditional SWE
Then go with uber my guy
this isn’t a hard decision
ik i meant
Well deployment strategist
Isn’t that pm?
v young company
sorta
more of a less technical FDSE lmao
from what I've heard from friends who work there
thank u everyone
I wish I had more time to decide
so you’re signing with uber?
what do u know of what ppl did as FDSE after pltr if u know any of em?
startups
oh
wait that kinda sounds like the best of both worlds
like they mentioned it
but then i was talking to some pltr ppl and they were like nahh
but all my itnerviewers had switched between the two
like my ideal situation would be having a chance in both
thanks for all of ur alls help
good luck at uber
This easy uber
wait why ? anything fuzzy inside
fdse is a meme if u wanna do PM deployment strategist is way more relevant
ik multiple @ pltr
but yea uber >>
why did pltr vibe check liek crazy
what makes u say this
coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb ahh
fdse is basically support engineering / solutions engineering
worst of both worlds
Isnt that the nature of flat structure already?
Hey org and level at uber?
i think palantir fdse definitely doesnt block you from being a people manager or product manager
and it has the upside of startups riding yo dih
but downside is you will never get meaningful promotions without leaving so ur hardstuck 200k
excluding one off big bonuses if you show good impact (comp for fdses is anecdotally higher than swes because impact working with direct company is higher if you perform)
uber fs
you get in you don’t leave
