I am sure that in terms of usefulness of work and pay, most teams at DB would be a better choice than most teams at FAANG. Yet, I am worried that the WLB at DB is said to be so bad online, that it might make it a bad experience for me.

Yet, maybe the bad WLB was a thing a year or two ago, and now that DB is hiring a lot more interns, they distribute workload a little easier? Is the WLB as bad as it is made out to be - because that should be a dealbreaker for anyone who doesn't want to "just work" imo.

Yet again, WLB situation at Amazon and Meta in particular is not great either for interns. Is it comparable to DB after all?

Amazon

Jokes aside, a summer at databricks is enough to land a job anywhere

#

its good resume value, and you learn actual stuff

I get that, but to me its not worth if Im working 9 to 9

Imma be honest

#

If you have opportunity to intern at Google/Meta take it

#

Those 2 are undefeated for res value

plucky needle
#

Bro, if anything DB has higher res value wdym?

#

If i was to take Meta or Google this doesn’t seem like the reason…

#

where are you looking to recruit next cycle

brisk pulsar
#

100% does not

#

Maybe for senior

#

But for new grad if you have meta/google on resume and databricks the resumes with meta/google will always get more callbacks

im ex db and my call back rate for interviews is around 80-90% so far

#

i took it over meta/g last year and def think it was the right choice

How much work was it for u?

#

intern was 60 hrs but very team dependent. ik someone who was working 35

#

he was just on a really lucky team

isn't meta RO -> fast promotions an argument for meta

brisk pulsar
#

Yeah go google

#

High ro pay is essentially the same as db (db might be higher by like 20k) and you get the most valuable tech name on your resume

#

Can’t go wrong with db though

Is getting blacklisted by DB (hypo) fine for this change tho

#

Makes sense otherwise
