#All I want is a job don’t care about the visa

didn't they say its 100k for everyone
I think there are some specific we are missing
the instructions and specs are unclear
This is just coping
The writing is on the wall. Sooner or later they will want us to leave. Prepare for that and start applying to rival companies in other countries
According to the White House:
It’s still very unclear imo
well small and medium companies wont go into all these details and stop hiring completely
rip startups
Yeah, if this survives legal battles it would definitely decimate the tech industry
I’m pretty sure a federal judge will block this, as usual. And then it play in the courts, as usual
tbf they don’t like anyone but the crazy rich ones
Yeah bro, like let us get a j*b and live here freely 🙏
We are not entering the country with 34 convicted felony charges, held liable in civil court for SA'ing and defaming a women, held liable for commiting extensive business fraud, or stole classified documents 🙏
The CEO of YC also made a statement quite concerned with it
It is sad to see what's going on to this country. we should be welcoming foreigners with open arms; we are nothing without yall
accept that plenty of americans believe that they are more entitled to certain jobs by the virtue of their birth
this is why they repeatedly elect trump. internationals need to look into opportunities elsewhere
These are jobs for American companies built on the infrastructure of American taxpayers and propped up by Americans Retirement Funds
so yes, Americans should always be the priority
H1B visas can get in at the back of the line
you realize the H1Bs also pay taxes?
and, on average, H1Bs pay way more taxes than the average American
well if you're going to live here then yea u should pay our taxes too
in fact, if we are talking about public finances, the average american graduate has costed the US much more money
because they are a net draw on the government finances while not having worked much. the average international payed full tuition rather than relying on government handouts
The American Tech Sector shouldn't be a global jobs program. American voters are not obligated to let that happen
yes, like i said, plenty of americans believe that certain jobs are entitled to them by birth
as you have made this clear
Americans believe that they are entitled to American jobs that is correct indeed
dont come begging for jobs abroad when your tech companies go the way of your manufacturing companies
you're crazy if u think i would want to live in anywhere other than America
i bet that's what those US steel union workers thought in the 1970s
good luck to you
ok lil bro. if u think the american people are going to stand by while all american companies start moving everything abroad then ur deluded
lol what? you know there are plenty of other companies outside america
toyota and samsung did not need to have american factories moved abroad
they went bankrupt on their own
regardless, maybe your lazy ass can finally get a job. happy for you
most intelligent cscd member
i don’t understand why people just don’t stop coming to the us
then they will understand
incredibly based
ever since the executive order yesterday ive seen a lot of people say something other than america should be benefitting americans the most
you're 100% right. american universities should not be teaching americans, and the american economy should not be benefitting americans. america should definitely not work in favor of americans
US tech companies only hiring US engineers benefit those specific engineers they hire
The rest have to pay more and get less returns on their portfolios
But, you already know this
are you a U.S. citizen by chance
No? It’s obvious I’m not
end of argument 😂
Enjoy paying more in tuition and having your stocks go down. Oh right you don’t have any stocks
You probably live in a basement
it would be naive for an american to listen to a non-american for what's best for america
clearly a conflict of interest here
youre literally your pfp
this will not benefit americans more because tech companies will just offshore more jobs
and outside of the tech industry, it's a necessity to hire talent from outside, so they will begin to crumble
i am american btw
our country is cooked
our leader is a fascist
"making it harder for american companies to hire non-americans will not benefit americans" 🧢
nice job bro
i dont even like trump but this is the best thing hes done all year
if he doesnt backpedal on it
it is not a necessity for america to hire non-americans, thats all bs
tech companies are already offshoring american jobs. the economy already sucks for americans AS IT IS. its almost like policy that incentivizes hiring american citizens is good for american citizens, idk tho
it doesn't incentivize hiring americans. it gives them a reason to outsource even more jobs
economy sucks because of Trump
endless amount of tariffs that just suffocates us
it is because there's not much talent in-house. non tech companies need foreigners to succeed, always been that way
jobs have BEEN getting outsourced for decades. im pretty sure 99% of americans support cracking down on H1Bs
this is what vivek ramaswamy said last year and he got absolutely flamed for it. the narrative that america lacks skills labor is totally false and is used to advocate for importing foreign labor
american universities are pumping out tens of thousands of skilled workers every year, we do not have a skilled labor shortage
and cracking down on h1b wont solve that issue lol
that is just not true lol
precisely what is not true
that there's no skilled labor shortage
how about the tens of thousand of new grads that are looking for jobs
are they not skilled labor?
where exactly is there a "skilled labor shortage" that we need to hire a foreigner for and not an american with an american college degree
youre referring to cs job market with anecdotal experience. that's nothing to do with foreigners, that's because of AI being overvalued. in every other fields there's a labor shortage
nursing for example has huge demand but very little supply
so youre saying that we need to hire H1B nurses because there are no skilled americans that are able work those positions
we need h1bs everything not just nurses
this country is nothing without foreigners
pushing them away is not good at all for the future of this country
if you dont understand how right now, then youll see once they stop coming here
how exactly is it beneficial to americans when H1Bs are getting hired for jobs over americans that americans are completely capable of doing themselves @crisp dome
how is a job market that doesnt prioritize americans good for americans
Electing the guy who went bankrupt six times tends to have this effect
no bro, no one wants to hire new grads
like a manager or experienced software or machine learning researcher
they should
thats my entire point
americans go to college and then get screwed upon graduation because nobody wants to hire them
that proves my point further why we should ban H1Bs to incentivize hiring americans
getting a new grad job wont become easy imo bc h1b is given to cracked people working at cracked companies
at those levels it’s already hard
H1Bs arent primarily new grad positions, but nevertheless american new grads should not be competing with the entire world for american jobs
just a reminder most companies don’t even sponsor visas only a few do
they don’t even now and still no job bc of the market, not because of the visas
visas are a part of whats making the job market bad for americans
because tech comapnies are abusing the program
when a company hires a foreigner off of a visa, that is a job that an american couldve gotten but they didnt
if that makes you feel better about your ngmi-ness then keep believing that lil bro
palantir, spacex, Doesn’t even sponsor u can get them
also roblox
am i wrong? are positions that get filled up with visa workers not jobs that couldve gone to americans?
should be easy for u
controversial take: the american economy should hire americans before they look outwards
that’s what they do bro
so youre ignoring the H1B visa program now?
again i said, companies who sponsor h1bs are in a big league and they hire exceptional talents and if any americans have that level of talent then they can find a job anywhere
bro silicon valley companies are exploiting the program
there are economic incentives to abuse the program and import foreign labor instead of hiring americans
its really not that complicated
either you want whats best for american workers or you don't
"americans should be prioritized in the american job market" is like the most basic populist take
they can still bring foreign employees to work
this only will add confusions
???
giving jobs to foreigners instead of americans = bad for americans
idk how else to explain this
the only way this would be hard to understand is if ur not an american
if foreign rich people stops coming then economy will not be the same bro
india and china are already getting ahead in this tech game and after all these confusions they will more
i can guarantee you that americans would not care if foreign labor stops getting imported. americans didnt even want this to begin with
maybe american execs and ceos do but not american workers
there is no upside to americans for foreigners taking american jobs
the only people that believe this are the foreigners that it benefits
H1B ban will not make your job market better lmfao, you’re not getting back the Covid job market. Sure it will help some few thousand Americans before they outsource the entire job and now not only will you lose the positions, you will lose tax money
The only bad part about H1B is they underpay them, which needs to be fixed because it artificially makes them more competitive than American workers
The American people might not care but your economy definitely will. This all depends on how long this goes on for, but the longer isolationist ideologies go on the bigger the effect.
i genuinely do not care. not giving american jobs to foreigners will 100% make the economy better for americans no matter how much foreigners gaslight us that it won’t, and even if there is a small chance it doesn’t, trust me it is a risk everyone is willing to take
LET ME BE CLEAR: american jobs should be HARDER for foreigners to get than it currently is
First of all you missed this point
And second of all you also missed the point of outsourcing which will 100% happen
lol
outsourcing is ALREADY HAPPENING buddy. if the job is outsourced or if the job is taken by a foreigner on a visa it doesn’t make a difference to an american. at least if it is harder for foreigners to get jobs on visas, the american has somewhat of a chance of getting the job
“don’t make it harder for foreigners to get jobs on visas, because this thing that is already happening might happen” bro stfu
It does make a difference 💀💀 tax money and cost of living is a thing
Where did I say this lmfao 😂
it is a risk ALL OF US WANT TO TAKE TRUST ME
the housing market will crash in some places if H1B gets terminated
I’m not arguing with you to change your view lmfao, but you’re acting like all it can do is get better
If anyone propose that California companies only hire Californian graduates (of which there are millions), people immediately understand that companies like Facebook and Apple will have to settle for inferior candidates while paying more, thereby making worse products and less money for a few years before they get overtaken by competitors out of state. Californian economy suffers as a whole while a few hires benefit for a few years.
This logic applies exactly the same when you change California to America. There is no use debating with these losers.
making it harder for foreigners to get jobs in america is good for americans actually, it’s not an extremely difficult concept to understand
brother, you’re not even an american citizen. get out this conversation doesn’t even concern you
^when you cant win an argument
Lmfao
Like I said, i am not interested in debating with you. I am simply showing others what is going on
“hello american, let me, a non american, tell you what is best for americans, despite the intrinsic conflict of interest in my lack of citizenship” bro you’re not convincing anybody
now allow me to tell you what is best for whatever country you live in
And you don’t have conflict of interest? Clearly you are ngmi trying to get a job
So you convince everyone that it’s better to hire you because of the virtue of your birth
i’m an american and i want the job market to benefit americans, so no i do not have a conflict of interest
It’s obvious
get out ➡️
I am leaving lol. Good luck in a couple of years competing with chinese companies
You are going to lose your market share outside the US
HEAR ME OUT: the AMERICAN government should help AMERICANS. you wouldn’t get this because you’re not AMERICAN
What you are saying is that American government should help you
Paying more for software engineers doesn’t help anyone except those specific software engineers
It’s obvious supply and demand
Good luck fellas
“erm actually, let me explain to you why your own government should not care about the interests of its own people, and how it should care about mine 🤓🖕”
i genuinely don’t care about your take
What about the interests of people paying for tech products? And the people relying on tech stocks for retirements?
They now have to pay for ngmi engineers like this one lmfao
Good luck
you’re right, the tech companies should hire you instead. then maybe, the tech products will be higher quality than ever
🤡💩
If you were better quality you would have found a job already
You are ngmi. I hope things work out for you
i just graduated and tens of thousands of graduates are looking for jobs
but first, we gotta listen to the non-americans to get enlightened on actually what is best for us, because they have our best interests at heart
this is why your country is first world and ours isn’t, because you have all the answers
it’ll stay first world if your visa expires
yall getting poorer and your companies losing in every market lol
you’re right, we should terminate the H1B and then deport all of them
and see how that affects the economy
doesnt concern me anymore
i got jobs lined up back home. your economy is going to shit
i bet your economy is better than the american economy. we should import millions of people like you to save us
nah, nobody is coming to save you
you are gonna stay unemployed
maybe next thing you can support companies in your states only hiring from your state
and not buy from any other state
that will help you
lmfao
what? america isn’t going to import millions of people from your country to come and save us? this is my worst nightmare
Let me be clear, H1B visas are being abused. That is the #1 undisputed fact with all these rounds of layoff comes with the same amount of applications for visas as Microsoft did this summer. Outsourcing is going to happen no matter what, no amount of arguing on policy will change that.
I agree they are being abused, but I don’t think adding a 100k yearly fee that will pretty much kill the H1B ON TOP of the fact that Trump is giving out “Trump cards” for certain companies is a good approach lmfao
Kinda had to expect that when you saw all those tech CEOs lined up at his inauguaration LMAO
You just take whatever win you can get in this economy 🤷♂️
I doubt Kamala was going to do anything but I'd bet our interest rates would've been around 1-2% by now
Can't say the same for section 174 being restored however
Meh, maybe 3% ish without threats of tariffs. The US job market been much better than global
Going off of previous trends from last year is my estimate
You mean global trends? Because the us hasn’t cut rates til this month
Oh wait no
They went down from 5
I forgot
Within 5 months, it dropped 1% at least
