problem was pretty easy, i outlined my solution and interviewer was insistent that it wouldnt work or that it had a 'wrinkle'. kept giving me hints to go down a diff path but i didnt understand what solution he was thinking or why it was necessary when my thing was a lot simpler

at some point he just said "ok fine if u think itll work j code it"

and then it ended up working perfectly fine. but because of that we wasted like 5-10 minutes going down this tangent and i finished with like 1 min left, and he had to point out a small variable-name bug i made since there was no time for me to debug.

afterwards he said my solution was more elegant than his or smth but i doubt he'd pass me
