@night venture
curious why u think that
Do you have masters?
bachelors only
do oyu know whats internal promo like for meta or g
You've got the highest new grad offer from apple I've seen yet,how did you go about negotiating?
I mentioned meta & google competing and gave meta numbers since I don't have google ones
are both meta and apple in bay area?
if you get google (bay area respectively), itll be 158k base, 15k sign on, 100k (38/32/20/10), and 15% base salary performance bonus
since me and you dont have masters
standard offer
offer technically isn't here yet
Damn I need to learn to negotiate better
That Apple offer is really great considering they don’t give that high usually
Are you on a ML team?
yes
need turtle job guide 🥀
Which org are you?
is there an additional relocation?
hardware val
which may the source of some issues since i think swe org has higher salaries
So you just told them you had offers from other places and that's the first offer they gave? No back and forth?
yeah that was the first number
gonna try to give them the numbers that @west mesa said and see if they'll budge with the RSUs
they're deffo not gonna budge with base
if you get google ur taking google right
google is best of the three in the food tier list i think
no
needs to be an embedded team
breaking into embedded after general swe if p hard
Are you in the head office?
gz on getting passionate career opportunity
lol
San Diego
What's the offer for a masters student?
My first year Tc is 178k
Got more cash that equity
Kinda wanted more equity tbh
I was trying my ass off to get 100k equity
Couldn’t get it 😓
Don’t mind have less cash early in my career don’t have much bills anyway
ah
Gonna need that later in life
Is it true that you can get promoted within the year?
Maybe then I can negotiate a better comp. any idea how promotion negotiations work at Apple?
that is what recruiter seemed to be hinting to me
That’s what they told me as well but just thought they were trying to get me to sign quick lol
relocation is like 11k, i didnt include it
160k base, 20k signing bonus, 15% of base salary performance bonus, and 100k rsu (38/32/20/10) i believe
for bay area and nyc
damn
u think they'd let me nego with it to get stock up
cant they nego more base
i think so, and its almost always better to take more stock than base for big tech
theyre also more likely to give more stock than more base
In terms of what they most likely will try to negotiate first I’d say the order is
Sign on
Stocks
Base
y’all are making me so proud 🙂↕️
This might be a stupid question but how do they give you stock. So base they prolly just deposit in your bank, but wb stock 😂
Do I create a Robinhood account or something and they send it there
they prolly have either their own investment manager or use something like fidelity or robinhood
i'd assume u use your work acct as your investment acct
they have their own asset manager they use
I know that meta is Schwab afaik and Amazon is fidelity
you can just transfer them to ur personal account after they vest
do u recommend selling a part of the stocks or keeping them all in the account
your choice
you pay taxes when you get them
then the gains tax applies after that
So if you don’t need the cash immediately might as well keep em for a year then sell to lower tax
pretty sure they will set up a brokerage with you. someone correct me if im wrong but i believe its with fidelity
depends on the company
It gets taxed again even if you sell at vest?
yes
oh yeah, i thought they were asking me about G
my bad
