Meta vs Stripe vs keep recruiting

What companies would you choose over Stripe? A startup?

I'd take stripe if you already know the team is good, you can hit the ground running if it's the same team you interned on. The main downside would be harder liquidity on the equity but you mention you don't care much for TC so that isn't much of a concern. Meta won't care if you renege.

Go with Stripe because you have the advantage of knowing the team. Meta has a lot of uninteresting teams. Not worth it to gamble

not sure where you heard that Stripe has "a quick path to senior," but L2 -> L3 at stripe is notoriously hard

my sister knows a couple of people that work there and noted, from current employees

I am talking to them now because I am thinking about going there

i've talked to current employees as well as teammates and they say 3 years to L3 is pretty normal

Ok I also interned at stripe and it seems like going from L2 to L3 takes about 3 years

i honestly don't really know, i would assume databricks and maybe google? would still be team dependent though

I would say that this is not a particularly fast track

or at least, other similar companies are definitely more towards the 2, or 2-3 timeline rather than about 3. about 3 implies sometimes 4

ya that seems reasonable - i just mean that I don't think this is particularly accelerated or fast, and when i say "notoriously hard" I just mean that the people i've talked to say it's a serious bar

not just a "it's been 3 years" bar

im sure lots of places are like this though

yes stripe is up or out at 3, i just said it was quick because it's similar to meta and i'd assumed people thought that meta promotions were fast

I think as long as you meet expectations you’ll get promoted but the bar to meet expectations is a lot higher than going from L1 -> L2

they're looking for you to perform at the next level to get to the next level

stripe's evaluation is either meeting/not meeting or "spiking", so although i would assume that spiking is necessary to promote to L3, most of the people i've talked to say that L2->L3 is pretty standard, whereas L3->L4 is the big gap

if you want to do startups then i dont think google or DB would suit you as much, google is ofc a tech giant and DB is pretty big now

i dont know the startup space too well tbh. its also pretty broad

if u just want solid credentials to get into a nice startup then u already got it for sure, any of the companies mentioned will do that just fine
