What experience did you have to get your first internship? I’m having trouble figuring out what I should have so I can get defense (or really anything) for my first internship.

i honestly didn't have much for the first internship but my high school offered a program to intern with boeing and i just got it through there

i do believe having projects is a great way if you don't have any experience or a very reputable university

recruiters want to look for people that are actively grinding and developing so definitely focus on that

Anduril is known to ask some form of leetcode questions that are tailored towards their product although their main focus is on behavioral fit. Other defense doesn't really ask leetcode. Also I did around 150 medium questions and it more than prepared me for Amazon since every question they gave me i've seen before.

it was technical in the sense that it was testing your prior knowledge and computer science fundamentals. I also had to give a presentation on a prior project and they grilled me on it

they flew me out onsite for a 4 hour interview. they just want to make sure your personality meshes well with the team

Anduril seems pretty sexy but has less name recognition

if you go to your boomer uncle and say "I work at anduril" he'll think "man jimmy hasn't made it yet"

but if you say I work at amazon your uncle is going to brag to his friends when he drinks beers at the pub

however, anduril arguably is better positioned in this economy because of their defense contracts

trump administration is changing landscape. amazon is suffering due to tariffs

contractors are in a good spot because trump admin wants to collect intel for migrant deportations

so anduril is I honestly feel better positioned in the macro environment

but if you care about household name bragging, amazon is still better (for now)

its just that anduril is only known by white collar professionals working in computer science, defense, quant, and tech

its not known by uncle jim at the pub

because brand value historically opens more doors
