Happened to me too. I passed the final round with Chevron for their SWE internship program 2 years ago. The recruiter then tells me they later found out they are unable to take students on an F1 visa. I made it clear in the phone interview and my application I was an international student.

The way I see it, if you dont get picked next year, you will have to leave the country anyways. Its better to be with a good company like Coinbase that has offshore offices, work there until you can get back with H1B
