#Aiming for FAANG or Quant Firm for S26 internship

Your classes look a little vanilla
if you're thinking about firms like JS/HRT/Citadel, maybe SWE, very low chance at buyside imo
JS/HRT/Citadel are looking for IMO medalist level STEM talent, and your resume doesn't really signal that
Okay I see what would u say are some classes that are important to list?
I was thinking of swe at quant firm, def not quant researcher position
just more advanced classics and also maybe just remove the biz administration classes if youre going for purely technical roles
if u want to list your biz double major just do "cs and biz" in the first section of ur coursework
im not super familiar with how competitive quant swe roles are tbh
ask AI I guess. I'm only familiar with quant research/trading
Oh okay thanks, my program is a 5 year program and most of the advanced level classes are in year 4 and 5 so I just haven't taken those yet
their pipeline for buyside positions (research and trading) are IMO medalists and t1 PhDs
there are some exceptions, sure, but idk about interviewing everyone
lol no
by not mch on resume if u mean math/cs from a top 10 uni sure
well at berkeley js hrt citadel were for 4.0 phd tracks and former USAMO IMO
maybe u went to a better school
Hmm I see is that for swe quant? If so do you think it’s possible once I land FAANG?
I think this is exaggerated
There's a few people from my school interning there at Cit as traders and even one research person without anything super insane like that
fs
Probably. Still difficult tho
I think if your school isn’t a target it’s hard
seems like youd pass quant screens for qd. between shopify and ibm + your experience section seems p stacked
Gotcha thanks for the insight
not 100% time, you can get interviews with them depending on what the project/extracurriculars are
yeah but you are going to have learn finance on the job
and you're going to need to get comfortable with it
I had a friend who left GS to go to a less finance focused firm. He does pure SWE work in java.
and he didn't feel like GS was the right place for him.
so like, if you want SWE, just understand SWE at finance firm is not SWE at FAANG (or SWE at startup for that matter)
its different flavors of SWE
Yeah that’s completely fine I’m doing a double degree in computer science and business administration lol
I’ve already taken several finance courses
just reazlied this. honestly condense them into a single degree listing as a double major i think
Okay yeah will do 👍
